UPS help

hey guys as i am suffering from voltage fluctuation from few days so i am thinking that why not to buy a UPS to secure my pc components after that i gone to market and got some rates

1500va for 10500
1000va for 7500

and my minimum requirement is 700watts so if we calculate va to watts

formula: (W= PF x VA)

W=0.6 x 1000va = 600watts

W=0.6 x 1500va = 900watts

now i want to ask few things that what will be the PF factor for PC Power supply on my PSU box its written 0.99 as its Active PFC but i want to be on safeside this time

but there is clearly written on UPS website 1000va ups will provide 670watts according 0.67 PF(Power Factor)

so which one should i go for 1500va or 1000va or the one for custom kit that will gonna cost me around 4k for ups and 4k for battery but that would some local brand not APC

well u should b going for a 1000va which gives power around 600watts ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,choice is urs....the ones available for 8-9k yes they r reliable and good.....as using one.....dont have any exp of local ones.................................
and try to spend as much as u can on battery, it will increase ur hours...............but for GODS SAKe dont ever buy VOLTA its crappy crappy............just find EXIDE..............its just like JITNA GURR UTNA MEETHA.................

also u dont have a gpu rite now so ur pc will b using aroud 250watts.....................which enables a ups to feel free.

250w without GPU? Hell no! His PC will be using around 80 watts including monitor.

To the OP, just because you have a 500 W PSU doesn't mean that your PC draws 500W all the time. It uses only as much power as it needs to and these days that isn't much. PCs are very power efficient now.

I would avoid Mercury brand. It doesn't offer protection from brownouts aka voltage fluctuations.

well i looked at APC website APC ups offers 670watts and a shop keeper told me that 1000va ups would easily draw 700-800watts and [MENTION=20748]devnull[/MENTION] how do u know my pc is consuming 80watts? 2hard drives,ram sticks,i5 and 100% peak load wouldnt allow you to be on 80watts mera gpu aisay hi nahi gaya kuch reasons thay uske magar gpu lena tha to fluctuation to socha pehle pc bachao phir gpu lagao

[MENTION=31224]soban123[/MENTION] well thnx for reply brother here i am confused if 1000va gonna provide 600w then how come i could survive with my 600watts psu and LCD? well tomorrow i am gonna meet my office IT officers lets see what they suggest bcoz APC is not in my range its costing around 26k for 1000va and there are 2 options now ALFA digital and intex dont know about mercury how they are according to devnull they are not good so lets see i need proper electrical engineer to clear this stuff now :S i dont want to waste my money like that

To the OP, just because you have a 500 W PSU doesn't mean that your PC draws 500W all the time. It uses only as much power as it needs to and these days that isn't much. PCs are very power efficient now.

OP has a 95watt processor + 2 hardrives + must b having an optical drive + 690 II case must have atleast 2-3 fans plus the fan of hyper which draws around 5-8watt per fan + and lcd drawing 30watts + a FULL sized atx mobo....... so it reaches around 250 watt

ur most welcome.....and 600watts doesnt means that exact 600watts .....its 80percent efficient so means it will definitely b providing 480watts on full loads which is rare coz u will not b gaming......as u dont have the gpu ATM..... still if u had a gpu ...u can let off gaming when there,s no electricity
so i think 1000va with a 100+ ampere battery custom arrangement should b fine ....

Look at the i7's figures in particular. Each CPU generation consumes less power than the previous so your PC consumes less power than the C2Ds that preceded it.

Hard drives barely consume 15W at peak and ram sticks 5W. Also most of the time your CPU is not running at 100% use so it is conserving power. Intel calls this speed step if you want to look it up.
