Im 19 , Student Of Computer Science at FAST Karachi. I stayed there for a year scored 2.7 CGPA , once i was returning i met some amazing people in public transport who took my phone, once saw a grenade attack at quaidabad , regular snatching cases in malir traffic jam. I talked to my Family and now they want me to change my university due to these incidents.Another thing i will say, being a FASTian i can only focus on my courses, we know computer science is a field in which you have to know about almost everything which is going on currently, i cannot do that being in FAST. At times i've found my teachers being uninterested in teaching like in the last semester i had a calculus II teacher explaining key topics on the last day before mid terms and i was not able score good in my mids i honestly dont know how others did, another teacher of my core course Computer Programming teaching programming with Slides and no coding and being angry when students ask them for questions blaming the previous batch saying "Unho ne yeh kaha tha mere baaray main k mai acha teacher nhi ho to mujhe to kuch nhi aata mai kaise parhaon. " This doesnt strike to me as good faculty. I've tried contacting the authority but no luck. I mean we all know we pay a huge amount for all of it and if im not satisfied with it So right now, my semester at fast its at pause. I know the only place i'll want to leave Fast is IBA but they'll want me to repeat my first year and there are no Admissions in Spring semester this time around. I can transfer my credit hours to Bahria University but from Fast to Bahria is a major downgrade. So i'd like to ask what would be the right thing to do here? Continue at FAST , Continue at Bahria University Karachi, Or wait till July 2016 to Start all over again at IBA? And how is Bahria university for BS(CS) program? Once a person told me that its better to study late than to study from a down graded institute( No offense to Bahria university Students ) Plus all the peer pressure and friends, its really difficult to decide.

Half your batch will probably leave after one year. However, usually its the ones who score below or near 2.0. In fact, look up international statistics about degree completion, you would be surprised to find the same numbers even at the top most universities in the world.
Can you name the teacher? In my day, I never saw such a teacher at FAST. And admin can't fire or change your teacher in the middle of semister, there are legal issues and contracts to think of. Not to mention the possible course changes with a new teacher.
Your solution could be to drop that course and retake later in summer.
And about Calculus, that's what happens in university level. You aren't at school level where the teacher will do revision the one or two classes before mids. And this is the semester system, they have to teach you in less than 6 months what you used to do in 1 year. And they have to complete the syllabus because you can look up international course requirements for Masters in Computer Science admission and you will get the same syllabus as they teach you in FAST.
Lastly, yes Quaidabad is not a safe area, my suggestion is to carpool with other students for economy and safety.
About other universities, their students and grads will give better advice.
