Hey @murtaza12 and others, I saw from your screenshots that you're using a Huawei modem - and I, too, see that the default end-user username and password have some settings restricted (for me, it's the ability to change DNS servers).

Have you tried using "telecomadmin" and "admintelecom" as the username and password respectively? Because this works on PTCL's GPON service (and I was successfully able to change my DNS server settings).
Disabled as mentioned by Murtaza.

Umm, just double checking but is this the newly installed ONT by PTCL? I think they'd disable it too as soon as it establishes connection. I believe this is more or less SOP to disable but then its PTCL so you never know.

New in the sense that they use Huawei modems? I don't know what's the old installation, but yeah - I managed to get it installed and up-and-running finally. It's provisioned on 10Mbps right now - 1218 says my number isn't in their system yet, and that I should wait 24 hours before calling back and checking with them what's going on.

That said - I just logged in using telecomadmin - and it's still working - so I don't think they're disabling the master account... they better not. Because they never really disabled the admin account on their DSL modems, so... maybe?

One can hope.

PTCL is using Huawei in Phase 8?!
It's Alcatel in Phase 1, ZTE in Phase 3-4, FiberHome in Executive Lodges and Bahria Enclave as well, and now Huawei in Phase 8... smh.

Wouldn't having multiple network vendors make it more work for them? Not only their engineers and networking staff, but for the call center idiots to be trained to know their way around 4 different ONTs.

It's not SOP everywhere. Entirely the ISPs choice whether or not they want to disable it. MOST of them do, very few leave it open. PTCL is stupid, so one can only expect this from them.

I had admin access on my Alcatel ONT when I had PTCL. Their NMS did nothing, couldn't even configure PPPoE automatically, I had to do it myself.

Also please confirm if its Android based or otherwise? I have a fear Android based devices will slow down over time.
Considering the device itself looks very similar to the PTCL STB, it probably is Android, and a prehistoric version of it. The PTCL SmartTV box was running Android 4.0.4, this may or may not be slightly newer.

Feeling the browsing a little less responsive today. Speedtest shows the upload is way off. Can you confirm? Will restart ONT and check then too but will wait before launching a complaint to them.

Mines fine. 67 down and 67 up [emoji14]
What DNS do you use? I switched back to Google after using CloudFlare. It's the best one for me.

Check optical power. Is it normal?

Yeah, did not realize I was using Cloudflare DNS, back to Google DNS. The issue was gone though before that, not sure what happened.

Optical Power is normal:

And Uptime of ONT: although I have scheduled my Router to restart once a day.

Mine still does that weird thing where it disconnects every 24 hours for 30 seconds and then reconnects. It started when I got static IP, but even after having that deactivated, it still happens.

Emailed them about it yesterday and they said it 'has been forwarded to the relevant department'.

Also, that working temperature is pretty high lol. Mine usually hovers between 35 to 40°C.

I see, it is under Reference range values but will change its place and see if that has any effect. Currently sitting on top of a shelf, almost with the ceiling, so perhaps that's the issue.

lol, so I changed the ONT's position, its between 55-57 C now. So really not sure. May be your ONT has better beefier cooling or different cooler running CPU?

Mines 38°C now. It's in an air-conditioned room from 1 PM to 8 PM, but other than that, the room is quite warm, and it mantains it's 35-40° C temperature.

It is a different ONT tho, has larger ports for ventilation in the back.
