Dear Admins,
A lot has changed in last 7 years here and probably I don't know any of the current admins of this section like I used to know all admins personally till 2011 , I have a few suggestion for you to improve transparency and to bring clarity in the section.

OPs should have at least right to show or hide comments on his thread.

If someone has told OP to reserve an item through a comment in post, it should stay there.

High price notifications to OPs by other members shall not be deleted from the post.

A lighter version of the forum or few sections including marketplace should be introduced.

We do it to stop the thread from being bumped by other people before their time.
(The Rule about bumping the thread after few days)

The things you've mentioned can be done through VM or PM as well.

And, as announced, we're working on a newer marketplace. It should not be far off by now.

For further clarification, i'm tagging marketplace mods for you.

1) Goes against the ad bumping rule, so no. It's an ad, not a discussion thread.

2) Reservation is normally done privately between buyer and seller, sometimes involving partial payment. Once it has been reserved, the seller can edit the main post to say 'Reserved for XYZ user'.

3) If you feel a seller is asking a high price, report the thread to any of the marketplace mods. Some sellers have a reason for charging high prices, and some do it without reason or for stupid reasons like 'Dollar rate is high', but the guy bought that item before the high rate kicked in so it's unjustified.

Murtaza summed it pretty meticulously. For your third point, we do have a check and balance for seller's asking price. If you find any unjust price tag, simply click the report button along with an average market price of that item (with reference) and we will handle the rest. I'm sure most of the issues would be resolved in the new MP.
