Nintendo is a company that is always evolving how we play video games – whether by introducing the directional pad, creating the handheld game market, or making motion control a practicality. Nintendo has steadfastly held its own within the more “hardcore” gaming scene, creating an experience that all levels of gamers seek out and enjoy.
Unsurprisingly the company has suffered a bit of slump with poor sales of the Wii U, but Nintendo continues forging ahead with new innovations in gaming. The company’s latest, Pokémon GO – a collaboration with the mobile game developer Niantic – may prove to be Nintendo’s most innovative game yet. Having only launched late last week, and only in a handful of regions worldwide, the mobile game which sends players outside of their homes and into the world to catch and train Pokémon has become an instant sensation.
Though it’s still a tad too early to determine whether or not the game’s popularity will be sustained or merely a fad, there’s no denying the game has seen immediate success. Even as the high volume of players puts a serious strain on Niantic’s servers – which, as any Pokémon GO player can attest, seem to go down just when you find that rare Pokémon you’ve been hunting for the past hour – the game continues to trend on social media, where players share tips, their catching experiences, and images of all the amusing places they found a Magikarp flopping around.

Server issues aside, Pokémon GO continues to rise, quickly topping the charts in the Apple app store roughly a day after launch. As for Android users, there’s more solid evidence of the game’s popularity, with Pokémon GO installed on 5% percent of all Android devices according to data collected by SimilarWeb. Compare that to Tinder’s installment on 2% of all Android devices and you can see how Pokémon GO is alreadya real contender for most popular app around (and potentially a more effective date finder, creating impromptu meet-and-greets around your local PokéStop).
Chart via SimilarWeb

But unseating Tinder as the go-to way to meet strangers for some late-night activity (by which we mean battling it out at your closest Pokémon gym) isn’t all the game has achieved. According to SimilarWeb‘s findings, Pokémon GO is closing in on Twitter’s hold on Android users as well. As of Friday, June 7th, Pokemon GO comprised 3% of Android users’ daily activity, compared to Twitter’s 3.5%; at its current rate of growth Pokémon GO is expected to soon overtake Twitter. For a game less than a week old to outreach a worldwide social network of 10 years is pretty amazing – though time will tell if Pokémon GO can hold our attention as firmly as Twitter’s 140 characters updates.
In its short lifespan, Pokémon GO is already affecting the world in very real ways. There was a young woman who discovered a dead body while playing, which is certainly a boon to that criminal investigation, while others have used the game’s Lure feature as a means to rob unsuspecting players. For Nintendo, the launch of Pokémon GO has resulted in a rise in stock prices, with Monday, June 11th seeing a 25% jump alone; the company’s highest single day surge since 1983 (via CNBC).
Good or bad, it’s undeniable that Pokémon GO has managed something special. The game forces gamers to walk, enriching their lives with exercise and exploration. It’s helped players confront their own social anxiety, giving them opportunities to bond with strangers over a love of Pokémon. And it’s bringing communities together in unexpected ways – something you can easily observe at your nearest park, where I can guarantee you’ll see at least a dozen or so people walking around trying to catch ’em all.
Pokémon Go is available now on compatible iOS and Android devices.

Pokemon Go is huge in Germany...lol..
Consider this :
Pokemon was not officially launched here in Google play store and even then Nintendo has delayed its launch this week Germany due to the response and servers crashing due to traffic, which was being generated by online API downloaded.
and this is without conisdering IPhone

I see people walking randomly with their phones out everywhere...nearly half of my class full of people in their 20s and 30s was discussing and playing pokemon go instead of paying attention to the lecture.

[h=2]Pokémon Go players are using hacks, drones and cheating tools to get out of walking[/h][h=3]Sure, why not?[/h]

Pokémon Go players are looking for the best ways to get out of walking around to catch Pokémon, including paying $30 to be chauffeured around their cities. Now, players are using modified versions of the game — or simply put, hacks — and enlisting the help of drones.
During a stream on Twitch earlier this week, one Pokémon Go player introduced his audience to the Pokémon Go Cheat Tool. Essentially, the player downloaded a modified version of the side-loading APKs going around for Android that when used changed the location of where the player was to catch other interesting types of Pokémon he may not have been able to otherwise. In the stream, the player was able to catch the Pokémon without getting out of his seat, getting around one of the core concepts of the game: walking.

The stream, which led to mass complaints on the Pokémon Go subreddit page from fans who thought he was ruining the game, has since been taken off Twitch, but the description of the modification he was running is still there. In the description, the streamer added that the hack would also allow Pokémon Go players to collect items and level up their Pokémon without having to grind or use in-app purchases.
"This simply means that you might want never to be spending a lot of money for the sake of those IAP, otherwise referred to as in-app-purchases, nor would you spend countless hours of grinding finding items and leveling up your Pokemons," he wrote. "Moreover, this provides you with plenty of time to enjoy the game rather than having it the played the hard way."
He's not the only one, either, who's looking for ways to get out of doing pesky things like walking. One player attached his Android phone to a DJI Drone device and, from the comfort of his own backyard, flew around his neighborhood trying to find Pokémon. This is also considered cheating, as a drone could potentially fly slow enough that it registers on the game as time spent walking, leading to more eggs being hatched for doing none of the actual work required.

[h=2]Here's what happens if you're caught cheating in Pokémon Go[/h][h=3]Those Pokémon will run away[/h]

Since the launch of Pokémon Go last week, there have been multiple reported cases of players being banned for GPS spoofing — changing their location to catch Pokémon in other cities and take over remote gyms without ever getting out of their seats. While most players using GPS spoofing and modified versions of the game are from rural areas where it's a little more desolate for budding trainers, developer Niantic Labs doesn't hold any sympathy, and has been issuing soft bans on players who decide to cheat.
According to players who have been dealt bans for using GPS spoofing hacks, once they were discovered, they were no longer able to catch Pokémon, collect items from PokéStops and couldn't battle or claim a gym. When trying to throw a PokéBall at a Pokémon in the game, players discovered the opposing Pokémon would just run away instead. Most players have used the cheating tool to flock to heavily populated areas, like New York City, where there are more Pokémon available to be caught.

Despite the slight annoyance players have had to deal with from the ban, many on the game's subreddit page said it's not enough to stop them from using cheating tools. As one player said, it's only a soft ban and the inability to effectively play the game only lasts for a couple of hours. It's an interesting discovery considering when players tried to use GPS spoofing technology during the game's beta stage, they were met with harder bans from Niantic, who seem to have dialed back the punishment being doled out to players caught cheating.
Polygon has reached out to Niantic about the soft bans players caught cheating have been given and whether or not the severity of those punishments will increase as updates to the game are rolled out.

Honestly, the possibilities are endless with this thing. You can basically have the same experience as you do on the standalone pokemon games right there on your phone, but I wonder if TPC/Nintendo would want to cannibalize their standalone pokemon games like that.

[h=2]Analyst: Apple, Google, Niantic likely making more on Pokémon Go than Nintendo[/h]

Nintendo stands to make the least amount of money out of the incredibly popular, incredibly profitable Pokémon Go mobile app, according to at least one analyst as reported by Business Insider.
Launched just last week in North America and other parts of the world, Pokémon Go quickly soared to the top of the charts on iTunes and Google Play. It’s currently listed as the top free and top-grossing app on both mobile storefronts.

Estimates put the game’s revenue at anywhere from $1 million to $2.3 million a day. But it’s a little unclear how all of that money is being split up.
As the Wall Street Journal reports, that money likely goes to a number of companies, including Apple and Google, which both take a share of sales through their stores; developer Niantic (which Google parent company Alphabet invested in when Niantic was spun out of Google); The Pokémon Company (of which Nintendo owns 32 percent); and finally, Nintendo itself, which invested in Niantic’s creation of the game.
Both Apple and Google get 30 percent of revenue from in-app purchases on their stores. David Gibson, an analyst at Macquarie Research, delivered this estimate of game revenue breakdown to Business Insider:
The title was jointly developed by Niantic, Pokémon Company and Nintendo. It is unclear exactly what their economic interest is in the game, but we presume that out of every 100 units earned at the app store, 30 would go to Apple, 30 to Niantic, 30 to Pokémon and 10 to Nintendo.
The good news for all the companies involved is that there’s a lot of money to go around.

An App Annie analyst told Inverse that the firm could see the game pulling in a billion dollars a year once the server issues are smoothed out and the game launches worldwide. The game is the fastest mobile game ever to reach the number one spot for revenue on mobile stores, outpacing even Clash Royale, according to App Annie and VentureBeat.
That news has already had a substantial impact on Nintendo. On Monday, CNBC reported that the company saw a 25 percent jump in its stock value.
Rumor has the game hitting Japan in the coming week, which is sure to drive use and sales up as well.

[h=2]Pokémon Go players, historical sites are asking people to have respect, put the game away[/h][h=3]Some players are even asking to have areas removed from the game[/h]

Pokémon Go has brought players to a variety of places around their cities, including libraries, parks and notable landmarks. Being able to catch Pokémon wherever and whenever has also led to some questionable instances, including people using the game to snap photos of Pokémon they've caught at historical sites like Arlington Cemetery and the National Holocaust Museum in Washington, DC. Now, both players and organizations are asking Pokémon Go players to have some respect and common courtesy when playing the game.
The National Holocaust Museum issued a statement to the Washington Post yesterday after employees noticed that people were using their phones inside the building to catch Pokémon. In one photo, a player posted a picture purporting to show Koffing, a gas/poison-type Pokémon, available for capture inside the building, but this could not be verified as real. As Pokémon are computer-generated, developer Niantic Labs may not have been aware that specific Pokémon would spawn at that specific location, but the fact that this could happen has upset quite a few people.

"Playing the game is not appropriate in the museum, which is a memorial to the victims of Nazism," the museum's communications director, Andrew Hollinger told the Post.
It was a sentiment echoed by the staff at Arlington National Cemetery, the United States' largest military cemetery, where more than 400,000 are interred. Employees were horrified were horrified to discover that people were coming onto the grounds and playing Pokémon Go, using headstones as backgrounds in their photos. In response, the cemetery's communications team issued a tweet asking players to have respect while visiting the grounds and put the game away.
We do not consider playing "Pokemon Go" to be appropriate decorum on the grounds of ANC. We ask all visitors to refrain from such activity.
— Arlington Cemetery (@ArlingtonNatl) July 12, 2016
It's not just Arlington Cemetery, either, that players are questioning as appropriate playing grounds. On Reddit, one player noticed that there were dozens of kids in their hometown running from headstone to headstone to take pictures and catch Pokémon. The Reddit poster asked if there was a way for Niantic to remove cemeteries from the list of playable regions or leave those areas unpopulated, which is a similar question the Holocaust Museum's Hollinger had. He told the Post they were looking into ways to get the museum removed as a PokéStop.
Niantic Labs and Nintendo released a joint statement to Vox about the various locations available in the game, saying, "PokéStops and Gyms in Pokémon Go are found at publicly accessible places such as historical markers, public art installations, museums and monuments." The companies added that those who wanted to make a request or complaint could do so on Niantic's support page.
Neither company has said if they have plans to remove certain locations, like the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum, which which preserves the history of the infamous Nazi concentration camp and memorializes its victims. The museum has also asked players to refrain from playing the game while visiting and has asked Niantic to remove the museum from the game. Polygon has asked for additional comment.

[h=2]Pokémon Go players can now submit PokéStop, gym location requests[/h][h=3]You'll soon be able to get rid of that gym on your lawn, too[/h]

The Pokémon Go website will now allow users to submit requests to create and remove PokéStops and gyms. A submission form includes several categories for players and businesses to choose from, including reporting PokéStops on personal property and transforming a storefront into a noted location for trainers.

The form, dug up by Kotaku, requires that players input their email addresses, the type of request they're making and a reason for that request. Among the reasons for users can choose from are the presence of dangerous PokéStops or gyms, a lack of local stops and creating a new marked location.

The exact name and address of the PokéStop and gym is required as part of the request. Players can even submit the specific coordinates of their location request if so desired.
Upon submitting their requests, however, players will receive a note from Niantic Labs stating that they are not currently accepting new PokéStop and gym locations.
"Thanks for your interest in adding PokéStops and Gyms to Pokémon GO," the message states. "While we're not currently accepting new submissions, we'll keep your city in mind in the future."
Currently, Niantic Labs uses the location data from Ingress to populate Pokémon Go's map. Players familiar with the two games have crafted helpful maps so that others can find the PokéStops that already exist. Being able to create new ones will be useful for those in more rural, isolated areas, however, as well as businesses looking to draw in Pokémon-hungry customers.

[h=2]Florida man shoots at Pokémon Go players, mistaking them for burglars[/h][h=3]Late-night encounter and teen saying 'Did you get anything?' set off the shooter[/h]

Orlando police say a Florida man fired at two teenage Pokémon Go players very early on Saturday morning, believing they were looking for a house to rob. No one was injured.
The Orlando Sentinel reported the incident yesterday. In addition to the presence of a strange car in the neighborhood and teenagers walking around at 1:30 a.m. on his street, the 37-year-old shooter believed they were criminals when one said to the other "Did you get anything."

That's when the man stepped in front of their car, brandished his weapon and ordered them not to move. The car sped off and the man fired at it, believing it had tried to strike him.
The shooter was not identified in the story, though the Pokémon the teens were hunting at the time were: Marowak and Tauros. They didn't tell their mother about the incident until she kind of noticed the bullet holes and flat tire caused by the shooting.
Florida, it should be noted, has very expansive firearms laws, including a "stand your ground" statute passed in 2005 that justifies a citizen using deadly force "to prevent the imminent commission of a forcible felony."
Prior to its enaction, Florida law required a person to use all reasonable means to avoid danger before using deadly force, including fleeing. The stand your ground law figured prominently in the defense of George Zimmerman, who killed Trayvon Martin of Sanford, Fla., in 2012 and was found not guilty of second degree murder in a highly publicized trial one year later.

Pokémon Go players are selling their accounts for upwards of $100

But Niantic is warning players not to buy in

Since Pokémon Go launched last week, players have used drones and different hacking methods to help speed up their progress in the game and get out of earnestly playing day in and out. Now, almost two weeks after the game was released, marketplaces like eBay and Craigslist, as well as social sites like Facebook, have become flooded with players offering to sell their accounts featuring rare and high-level Pokémon for more than $100.
On Reddit, players who decided to purchase the accounts cited geographical restrictions as one of the main reasons for doing so. It's been reported that players who live in rural or suburban areas don't have access to the amount of Pokémon that those in densely populated cities, like New York City, do. There's also far less PokéStops, and because of the smaller number of players spread out over larger terrain, there are less lures being dropped.

On sites like eBay, accounts sitting at level 14 were going for $100, while an account listed at level 15 was selling for $175. While there are a few bids on some of the lower-priced accounts, including $50 accounts sitting at level 10, Niantic Labs, the developer behind the game, has explicitly said this is considered cheating. On the trainer's guidelines page on its site, Niantic has asked players not to get involved with the buying or selling of accounts and players could see a soft ban if they're caught logging in with another Gmail address.
Pokémon Go is hardly the first game players have sold their accounts in, but according to PlayerUp's CEO Eric Schweitzer, it is one of the fastest. Schweitzer told Wired that he's never seen the level of attention paid to a game in its early stages as much as Pokémon Go. Schweitzer said that if Niantic and The Pokémon Company continued to make improvements to the game — like fixing server issues the game faces daily — and update it, the popularity of the title could last another few years.
Pokémon Go is currently available in various countries around the world, with Niantic promising to have the game rolled out to other regions as soon as server problems are fixed. For the best tips and tricks for playing, check out Polygon's handy guide here.

  • These are Pokémon Go's rarest Pokémon

Mew and Mewtwo, where are you?

The distribution of Pokémon in Pokémon Go varies for every player; Pokémon supposedly populate each region that has the game based on geographic features. But some Pokémon are rarer than others, with a handful of monsters still eluding players. These rare and legendary creatures are said to be in the game, despite no one having discovered them in the wild yet.
According to a chart compiled by fans on Reddit, the top six toughest finds in Pokémon Go are Mew, Mewtwo, Moltres, Zapdos, Articuno and Ditto. No one has spotted these Pokémon thus far in-game, leading many to wonder if they're even obtainable through natural methods. A fan who shared what he said is Pokémon Go's code found data files for each of the six Pokémon currently missing-in-action, however, suggesting they are available within the game.

So why are these monsters so rare? Most of this list checks out; in the Pokémon games, Mewtwo and each legendary bird are only found in specific locations, while Mew is historically one of the hardest monsters to locate and catch. As for Ditto, however, although the normal-type isn't classified as a legendary, it can be tough to find in many of the traditional games. That's due in part to its unique breeding abilities; the Pokémon can mimic and breed with nearly any other to reproduce Pokémon.
As for where to find them, it's still impossible to say. Pokémon Go requires players to travel around the world in order to find all of its hidden monsters and secrets, and with the game still not out in Japan, among other places, fans may have to continue searching for a long time before finding any of these rarities. Ripley's Believe It Or Not is hosting a contest for players' coolest finds, so perhaps the allure of $5,000 could tempt these unseen Pokémon out of hiding.
Players are advised to stay both vigilant and safe on the quest for all 151 original Pokémon. If a Ditto spawns in the middle of Central Park, expect a stampede to form, as it did when Vaporeon appeared there last week. We've got tips on how to catch these tricky monsters once you do stumble upon them, along with even more info in our Pokémon Go guide.
Correction: There are six especially rare Pokémon, not five. We've corrected the text above.

[h=2]Pokémon Go player hits cop car while playing behind the wheel, all caught on camera[/h][h=3]"That's what I get for playing this dumbass game"[/h]

#PokemonGO is not all fun and games. Here is a video of a distracted driver who struck one of our cars. #PlaySafe pic.twitter.com/kOTfbTcILo
— Baltimore Police (@BaltimorePolice) July 19, 2016

In the two weeks since Pokémon Go’s U.S. debut, there have been numerous reports of players getting injured while trying to catch ’em all. But perhaps nothing is as astonishing as this video from the Baltimore Police Department of a distracted driver crashing into a patrol car because he was playing Pokémon Go behind the wheel.
The accident in question took place at about 3:30 a.m. ET yesterday, July 18, according to the Baltimore Police; the location appears to be the corner of Eastern Avenue and S. Linwood Avenue in the Canton neighborhood of the city. While three cops were chatting on the sidewalk, a Toyota Rav4 drove through the intersection and struck a parked squad car. The video came from a body camera on one of the officers, none of whom, thankfully, were sitting in the police car at the time of the collision.

"The driver of the Rav4 told investigators that he was looking down playing the Pokémon Go game when he struck the patrol car," the Police Department said in the video.
When the filming officer approached the Rav4 to ask if the occupants were OK, the driver stepped out of the vehicle and showed the cop his smartphone running Pokémon Go.
"That’s what I get for playing this dumbass game," the unnamed driver said. The occupants of the Rav4 were uninjured.
Hey, at least the light was green when he drove absentmindedly through the intersection — that’s one ticket he avoided, although hitting a patrol car is probably its own special kind of moving violation. Protip: A parked police car is not a PokéStop.

[h=2]How Pokémon Go could land you in court, but not protect you from it[/h][h=3]We talked to a legal expert about how the game holds up against the law[/h]

Pokémon Go could lead to unprecedented legal cases — and it might work in Niantic Labs' favor to do what it can to limit its own culpability before the game sends players to court. That’s according to one law professor, Shaun G. Jamison of Kaplan University, who spoke to Polygon about the legal repercussions Pokémon Go fanatics could face if they get overzealous about visiting PokéStops or catching Pokémon, and to what degree the developer is liable for players’ actions.
Stories of police warning Pokémon Go players to stay away have been abundant since the game’s launch, while some have already run into legal trouble in search of Pokémon and PokéStops. Jamison cited a pair of trainers hopping a fence at the Toledo Zoo in Ohio as a prime example of an illegality whose consequences Pokémon Go can’t protect you from.

"If they are guilty of trespassing, the game does not give them any excuse in and of itself," Jamison told Polygon. "The notices from the games specifically tell them to respect other people's property. It may help them with sentencing, but I would not guarantee that outcome [of not guilty]."
In court, the intention behind trespassing is taken into consideration during sentencing. That means that Pokémon Go players who veer off the beaten path in search of Dratini, could help lighten a sentence, if not dismiss a civil case completely.
All bets are off when it comes to scaling walls and walking into people’s backyards, however.
"In a civil case, the trespass must be intentional or reckless or negligent," said Jamison. "So maybe wandering off the sidewalk a ways on to someone's lawn might be defensible, but climbing a fence, not so much."
"Most likely, the alleged trespasser is on their own"

Legally, a player’s actions fall squarely on their own shoulders, not those of Niantic Labs. Players waive their legal rights by agreeing to Pokémon Go’s terms of service — unless they email the developer to opt out of the waiver.
Even without this clause, though, a person’s own actions are hard to blame the developer for. This includes injuries players may sustain during the game. Some reports thus far point to people falling off cliffs while playing and even getting shot at. Yet Jamison explained that Niantic is likely well covered when it comes to legal defenses.
"As a general rule, they are no more liable than an auto manufacturer is for the misuse of their products," he said. "Someone tried suing Google Maps for an injury and they were not successful. Although Google is factually different, it still stands to reason that the user is ultimately responsible to be aware of their surroundings. Most likely, the alleged trespasser is on their own."
It might be tough to force Niantic to remove PokéStops
The same is true for those whose property has become home to a PokéStop or gym. Although Niantic’s website does offer a form to report unwelcome or inappropriate PokéStop locations, current legislation does not require the developer to remove these noted spots from the game. This is despite the chagrin of some homeowners and staff at places like the Holocaust Museum in Washington, D.C., where players discovered a type of Pokémon that felt out of place, considering the facility’s purpose.
Jamison explained that while "Niantic would be very wise to take steps to limit their expose by having an expedited way to remove [PokéStops] and Gyms and increase the distance at which players can utilize the stops and gyms, it could be difficult to legally require Niantic to remove the [PokéStops]/Gyms absent new legislation."
Pokémon Go has yet to send anyone to court, however, so all of this is hypothetical. Jamison himself referred to the game as new, unexplored legal territory. As it stands, however, Pokémon Go doesn’t do much to protect trespassers from the long arm of the law. Climbing a fence onto someone’s lawn to nab that Flareon is still climbing a fence, after all.

[h=1]Pokémon Go player has already caught 'em all[/h]

Pokémon Go has received its first master: ftb_hodor, a Reddit user who revealed last night that he had completed the North American Pokédex. That includes 142 Pokémon, with nine others proving completely elusive.
In order to finish his collection, ftb_hodor caught 4,269 Pokémon. He also hatched 303 eggs and walked 153 kilometers over the course of his two-week journey. His final catch was Omanyte, which he evolved into Omastar.
The New York City-based trainer, who’s level 31, said that he worked more than 50 hours a week amid all that Pokémon-catching. A popular hotspot of four adjacent PokéStops directly across from Central Park helped him achieve his goal without traveling too far from home, although he did take a trip to New Jersey along the way.
Still missing from his Pokédex are Farfetch’d, Kangaskhan, Mr. Mime, Ditto, Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres, Mewtwo and Mew. The latter six are considered to be the rarest Pokémon in the game, with no record of them naturally occurring anywhere worldwide. As for the first three, players suspect they are region-specific. Farfetch’d is reportedly an Asian exclusive, while Kangaskhan is found in Oceanic territories; Mr. Mime is common in Western Europe.

In other words, ftb_hodor better start looking into travel packages. For tips on how to become a Pokémon master without straying far from home, check out our Pokémon Go guide

Alan wake 2 is yet to recover it's development costs. Due to no physical release and no steam launch.
You reap what you sow. This is what happens when you take away choice from consumers. Even with 88% split going to developers, they can't recoup costs. Meanwhile, Helldivers 2 is a massive hit for Sony thanks in big part to Steam.
