Got normal speed at around 11 pm last night. Woke up at 8, out of curiosity rebooted my ONT again, guess what, speed went back to 3mb.:flame::flame:

Called them again, after use of some bad language speed got back to normal plus icing on the cake I got system administrator login user and password.:laugh1:

Guys i have ordered ptcl connection with smart tv in Q block johartown lahore.

Monthly cost will be 2890. Is it really worth it? Currently i have been using Zong mbb and Jazz mbb, zong mbb was working fine but they have increased their prices now. I shifted to Jazz MBB but their service is worse. I hardly get 1mbps speed at peak hours.

Also please tell me how can i pay installation charges online? The guy said i can pay with online bank and easy paisa/jazz cash but i can't seem to find any option. Anybody paid the charges online?

Edit: does the internet keep working if modem is plugged in to ups? I have inverex UPS

UPS: yes, the net keeps working.

Jazz MBB: are you sure you have 4G coverage where you are? That sounds like 3G speeds.

If your order is in the system, they'll give you an MDN number.

I don't know if it can be paid through online banking, but I believe Easypaisa has the option for MDN. Alternatively you can go to your exchange and use PCPM if they have it.

You should have received MDN through SMS on your number.

Yes i have MDN number but i wanted to pay though an online platform (bank account, easypaisa, credit card, jazz cash) to avoid hassles of going to their office. I kept looking for options in bank account and easypaisa and the only bills that take MDN as input are that of PTCL EVO.

Please share your views, is it worth getting PTCL connection? Zong/Jazz MBB are around 2000/month and i pay 250 for cable tv which is bad quality. So is it worth paying a few 100 extra?

5 years ago in Islamabad i got fed up of PTCL and installed Nayatel, it still works like a charm but i am now living in Lahore on rent due to my job.

Yes the device webpage shows LTE and full signals, in morning i can get speeds upto 800 KB/s but in day and especially night its down to 1mb.

I made complaint and their staff came and checked, afterwards i received email and call from jazz that we need to upgrade infrastructure to fix your problem and gave said we cannot give any time when it will be upgraded. So in short their decision was: Yes you got a problem but it can't be fixed right now plus we don't know when it will be fixed.

I think the signals are good but bandwidth is less which is why speeds drop when more users start using it.

VDSL is good. It's usually quite stable and you shouldn't have any issues.

You could probably easily upgrade to 15 or 25 Mbps in the future if you want.

I got a call from exchange, he said to submit a cnic copy. I called 1218 and asked about it and they said we dont need cnic.

I went to exchange today to submit cnic copy and installation fee. The rep at 1218 told me that i will be given VDSL but when i was coming out of office, i asked the person at exchange about VDSL and he said in your area ADSL is supported. Now considering my history with PTCL and a few friends who mentioned having problems on ADSL that were fixed once they were shifted to VDSL, i called 1218 and asked about it. Finally they said you can cancel your order and your payment will be reverted (via cheque) within 30 days. So i have cancelled my order.

yes u took a great decision bcoz adsl is full of problems if ur area has GPON or VDSL then opt for ptcl.

if you have msag in your area then it will probably support vdsl2 but i dont know why people at exchange are stingy and dont like everyone to get good internet speeds

I live in Q block where there's no VDSL whereas P block which is on the other side of road has VDSL :p
I just hope they refund my installation fee because the people in exchange already had me sign the job completion form. I did inquire that why should i sign it when job is not even started yet, they said its for our sake and hamne konsa bhag jana hai etc so i signed it LOL
