1% bhi boht hai.

I ordered my phone when molvis were doing dharna in ISB and although all roads were blocked, there was 1% chance of it being delivered and it did get delivered. 4 hours later than expected, but it got delivered nonetheless.
Kinda unfair to compare a dharna with a phone company in Pakistan...

Heck, if there is any network that might launch VoLTE, it might be Zong cause they're saying their Network is fully 4G compatible. Not Mobilink who's been turning off their towers after an "upgrade".

And not even Telenor, who's deploying 4G on band 3 but won't bother using CA (and they easily can!).

Or maybe - you can say that both dharnas and phone companies in Pakistan are equally useless. I can back you up on that.

I am facing a strange problem. If anyone can chime in.

My S8 duos cannot lock on to Telenor 4G Band 5, reverts to 3G when data is turned on. It works well on 3G/2G and Zong's 4G (Band 3). Other devices are working good with Telenor 4G.

Doesn't seem to be Hardware issue otherwise the reception would be a mess. Also reflashed stock firmware.

Screw mobilink.

I was (am?) a Warid customer. At home, inside, I get signals from 2 different towers. One is a Warid LTE signal whereas the other is from a Mobilink 3G tower.

Now here's the issue. When I'm connected to the 3G site, half the time my calls wont connect, messages won't go though and internet won't work (3G). The Warid LTE works fine but the signals are very low and only available in one corner of the house.

What can I do about this bs?

It's odd calls aren't working for you on 3G - but the internet? 3G is affected more than 4G by obstructions. It sucks, I know - but that's how radio waves work. Unless your signal is good, you'll just have to experiment moving around to see where the net works better.

4G: as I said earlier, this "upgrade" also seemed to turn off towers - can't do much about that.

A friend with an S8 Plus said the same thing, how weak are the signals when you're connected to 4G?

His phone would connect to 4G with 1 or 2 bars and then after a bit of usage just drop the connection and switch to 3G just like your phone.

Yes same thing is happening to me. But Zong 4G is working perfectly. It's just Telenor.

Speaking of Telenor:

Telenor to Shift 80% of Its Network to 4G By Next Year

A few lines from the article:

"Khurrum Ashfaque also gave a demonstration of License Assisted Access (LAA) trial of 4.5G services active in selected areas of 345. “As we aim for our 4G services to cover over two-thirds of our network in 2018, we are constantly introducing new and improved services for our customers that supplement our expansion efforts. As an example, to efficiently meet the future data requirements of indoor customers, Telenor Pakistan has performed and successfully completed a field trial of License Assisted Access, which is a 4.5G functionality”, he added."

Same thing here... When indoors. When outdoors, there's no issue.

I'll believe it when I see it.

LTE assisted access works on 5Ghz, right? That's good for capacity, but not necessarily for coverage (I didn't read much though).

Yeah it does. Don't know how they're going to go about setting it up though since LAA requires many small cells to be placed close together. That's possible if you add antennas on stuff like street light poles or traffic lights and stuff like that. The exact reason being coverage. Imagine adding 5 GHz antennas on a cell tower, only people within like a 30-40 ft radius will get signals. Capacity is great, I'm sure speeds will be good if implemented properly, but only time will tell.

Not only that, but very very few devices support LTE over 5 GHz so getting supported devices for that would be an even harder task than getting ones that support B5, which, let's be honest, isn't hard at all. Practically every other smartphone supports it.

As shaheerk said

I will believe it when see it. CA between 5 MHz of band 5 and 3 would be great. But to be frank I don't have enough hope from Telenor.

Jazz provide higher data volume currently on MBB bundles.
if you have any MBB number you can subscribe to 75gb data bundle in 2500 or 36gb in 1500rs

As long as your area has been upgraded to the new spectrum. Otherwise, you'll probably be better off with Zong (because of the speeds - I don't know about the prices though).

How do you guys use that much mobile data?? Jab mere pass zong ki device thi toh dil mein dard hota tha. I used to have ZONGs 50gb package that wasn't enough for me :/ but now Zong speed is bad so I don't charge it anymore. Any idea which network is good in terms of speed and reliability?

If you've got Jazz's upgraded network in your area, go for them with your eyes closed.

What network has the ID 41051?

For the past 3-4 hours, Mobilink/Warid is down in my area but this new network is showing up. It is 41051. What network is that?

Their helpline advised me to turn off data and restart the phone. Well, I thought the guy was an idiot but it worked after a while (or maybe it was just a coincidence).

1) Maybe Jazz/Warid is upgrading and/or doing optimisation in your area.

2) 410-51 is PTCL CharJi. Has nothing to do with the downtime you faced with Warid.
