Druckmann explained that this balance between larger areas and more scripted segments is predicated on the tension Naughty Dog strives to deliver.
“Unlike an open world game that is usually open all the time, that [type of] game doesn’t work for us for The Last of Us because that loses tension. If I need to go rescue someone, and [the game] says ‘OK go rescue them right now...or do these 10 other things on the side,’ you lose tension,” he said.
Man, it sucks how your exploration can be thwarted by story progression if you were to explore the wrong place first. It would have been nice if the game had an optional story/objective marker.
So you're saying .... violence begetting more violence leads to an endless circle .. which is bad ?Spoiler: show
I like how Abby said "Good" when she hears Dina is pregnant and was about to slit her throat until Lev stopped her.
How she vomits when she sees Owen dead but has no issues golfing someone to a pulp or slitting pregnant women :tv:
At least Ellie felt some remorse after she got to know that Mel was pregnant, I doubt Abby would have felt any the way she was ready to kill Dina.
The only flaw with Ellie is that she let Abby go after killing so many possibly innocent people in the way to get to her, including Fat Geralt who helps her find Abby's (Girll, Biceps like mine(Wtf? I thought she was literally malnourished at that point with just bones showing)) whereabouts and even stops his friend from causing violence with her.
Joel and Tommy are suddenly trusting bunch of random individuals and giving them their name and address, Hey guys am JOEL MILLER who definitely had nothing to do with taking down Fireflies, just drop by my place for some tea.
Tommy: Yeah guys meet my brother JOEL MILLER
On the contrary they didn't even tell Joel's surname. I wonder how many Joels did Abby kill at this point
- The sheer range of combat/navigation moves, which are second only to MGS V: The Phantom Pain and not cover/shoot/cover/shoot like most games doPlease can anyone elaborate what is so amazing about gameplay.
Nah, it is a re-release (a fantastic one at that), not a remake, and therefore isn't likely to be in the running for GoTY either.Oh Persona 5 royal is a re-release now thought you said its a new game. Oh wait it is a re-release now that Tlou 2 isnt on top anymore I get it.
But there are plenty of critics who gave it scores ranging between a 6.5 and a 10. It's unfair to say that every critic gave it a 10.No matter how good the Graphics, Animation and Gameplay is the game still does NOT deserve 10/10 by every critic.

My gripe isn’t about an objective marker missing, I would completely have a natural no HUD experience and with exploration games, I like to take my time exploring stuff. Wish there wasn’t a point of no return thing included which would’ve made my exploring worry-free.Public Service Announcement.
Make sure to check the Accessibility options.
Seems like not a lot of people playing the game are bothering to check them. There are dozens of cool things you can enable from there including:
- Objective Marker showing you where to go for the story (Solitary and Major Aly, this is for you)
- Max Payne style slow-mo at the press of a button
- High contrast mode which makes objects and enemies pop out of the backgrounds
- FoV and camera distance controls, to increase your viewable screen area
- Auto pick up loot/items, so you dont have to press a button every time to pick something
- Auto perform small tasks like QTE's, going through paths which require pressing buttons
He's also a fan of Dishonored, Hotline Miami, and Inside. You can see influences from all 4 games in TLOU Part II.One thing that I can say here: Druckmann admits one of his biggest inspirations was Metal Gear Solid 2, which explains one of the biggest twists in the game
Oh boy .... this is gonna be a big one p)
It does, you can enable it in the accessibility options.
The game literally draws a Call of Duty style arrow to let you know which way to go for the story.
So you're saying .... violence begetting more violence leads to an endless circle .. which is bad ?
because that's exactly the point the game is hammering in, thank you for understanding Druckmann's vision
Also some of your points are flat out wrong
Spoiler: show
1 Joel never introduces himself as Joel Miller, Abby says it *AFTER* shooting him.
2 Joel has trusted people in TLoU 1 to show them to their hideouts when they're under attack too (Henry, the black guy)
3 If you paid even a little attention to the story during your skimming of the youtube cut-scenes, Abby and Owen talk multiple times about how they have been searching for Joel and Tommy for a long while and they are in Jackson *BECAUSE* someone sighted Tommy there, not Joel. When Tommy foolishly tells them "Hey I'm Tommy, this is my brother Joel", they know they have the right combo.
- Abby explicitly asks her group not to kill Ellie or Tommy in Jackson, but by the time she and Ellie fight, she had just seem Ellie kill a bunch of her friends, including a pregnant woman. She is obviously angry and a bit crazy at that point until Lev stops her. Before the theater fight, Abby seems like a reasonable person, her only issue was getting revenge on Joel. She even goes back to save Lev and Yara when she absolutely didn't have to, and goes against her faction to get medical supplies for YAra.
So, in terms of the narrative, Ellie is more of the villain of this story than Abby is.
And none of the random enemy NPC's count because you can literally avoid killing a single one by stealth going through the environments. So that's more of a player agency thing, not mandated by the plot.
- The sheer range of combat/navigation moves, which are second only to MGS V: The Phantom Pain and not cover/shoot/cover/shoot like most games do
- The accessibility to either play like a shooter or like a Splinter Cell game depending on how you want to play it
Or you can just watch the numerous awesome videos you can find on youtube already.
Put in any game's name here and anyone can dismiss it just as easily by saying "what's awesome about this game play" lol
This is such an irony if you consider how they connected the two games :tv:And none of the random enemy NPC's count

Spoiler: show1. Abby responded to Ellie in that manner because Ellie had already killed a pregnant friend of hers. She had a "look who's talking" expression on her face. But what's important to note here is that she listened to Lev and stopped what she was going to do. In the end, Abby didn't kill a pregnant woman, but Ellie did.
2. 5 years had passed since the Fireflies incident, so Tommy mentioning Joel's name wasn't so unusual. He probably didn't think anyone would be coming after him at this point. Joel killed Marlene in order to ensure this. He also killed the doctor (Abby's dad) because he was the only one capable of performing the surgery.
3. Not mentioning Joel's surname wasn't necessary. Abby's group used available information and leads to trace him to Tommy's settlement. There couldn't have been anyone else there with those names and fitting their description.
Nice avatar, btw
We’re delighted to report that The Last of Us Part II is now the fastest-selling PS4 exclusive ever with more than 4 million copies sold through as of June 21. This milestone would not have been reached without the support from our amazing fans, so on behalf of everyone at SIE, thank you!Previous records (sell-through) :
- God of War - 3.1M in 3 days
- Spider-man - 3.3M in 3 days
Really hope they do this. Factions multiplayer with these combat mechanics would be glorious.Their PS5 output should be insane (probably their first game will be the TLoU Factions MP game on the TLoU 2 engine).
170 + countries where Steam sells but PSN doesn't will lose access unless they use VPNfaraany3k said:I have heard that it is now unplayable in countries which do not support handful of third world countries not recognized by Sony like Pakistan. Steam is a true global platform. Then they cry that console gaming is dying.
