Guys! just check this out! I was literally blown away by the art and animation and kept questioning myself, is this really a Pakistani product? But it is! Yeah, I know it is hard to believe.

This is animated movie project started in February 2016 and is being directed by Usman Raiz. It will be divided in 4 parts.
'The Glassworker' is a coming of age story about a young boy named Vincent, who is learning the art of Glassblowing from his father in their Glass Shop. As he grows older he begins to fall in love with a frequent visitor of the shop - a young girl named Alliz. The film will follow both Vincent and Alliz through their developing years as life gets more complicated and inhibits their relationship. [as mentioned on Kickstarter]

I just can't wait, the studio behind this project says the movie will be released by December, 2016.

Oh, this guy. Saw him on Uth Records way back when I was 15. Guy's really come far since then.

Anyway, this looks like it's going for a Ghibli-ish vibe. Might just pass this one up.

Can we just take a moment to talk about the name of the studio? It's cute af, man. Idk who Usman Riaz was before this but the guy has my respect. The Ghibliness is attractive and the trailer looks solid, man. I can't wait to see it. :D

Saw this a few weeks ago, I wish this was more about pakistan rather than whatever it's currently about. It feels too ghibli inspired and less of its own thing.

Hopefully this project succeeds and the next project is something more in line with what I want.

Been following this for a couple of weeks now. Really interested in it. I hope it is successful, and they make enough cash to properly house their studio and make more stuff.

Easier said than done. Personally i don't care if it gives off a similar feeling as long as it hits the spot.
but the what's the point of just aping something that's already been done to death? Ghibli movies lost their charm ages ago for me. I'd prefer people come up with their own ideas so I can actually enjoy them, rather than compare them to other works.

I have similar feelings. Something Pakistan related would have been very nice.

Dude there are millions of artists around the world. Not all of them are famous. Creating your own style has way less chance for to be successful not to mention it ain't easy. Needs a crazy artist with enough resolve to not back out if it doesn't go well at start and who doesn't care about money and fame and then we need a studio that thinks like that. Most of the people are doing it for a living. I agree that watching the same style again and again does make it boring for some people including me (that's what happens with me in games :s)

So i don't care if its giving off a similar feeling as long as the plot/characters are unique and decent. That's not aping entirely. That's using someone's style as a base and coming up with new ideas. Glass worker shows the affects of war on children, now we can't change the topic, many animated films do it but we can change how it portrays/depicts that topic, similarly one can have same styles but come up with its own unique way to portray it. That's what that matters to me. The point was we can't expect from every common artist to come up with his own idea, its hard. Those who come up with it and become successful are geniuses imo. Well who knows maybe he is starting up, maybe he'll create his own style after some time.

Is there anything Usman Riaz can't do?
Be original.

That's a long winded way of justifying a copy cat. You're saying yourself how much it's borrowing from other people's works but somehow it's still ok. There's an unwritten rule when "borrowing" or getting inspiration from other people's work, it's called disclosing your inspiration. This movie obviously takes a lot of inspiration from Studio Ghibli's work but I have yet to see a single mention.

A style is very important to an artist. Using someone else's style without mentioning the original creator's work is frowned upon in the community. I don't think this guy doesn't know about Studio Ghibli, so I can only take it as it seems. He's trying too leach off of an established style without acknowledging the hard work of the people that made it so popular. Or this might just be a coincidence and this guy has no idea what Studio Ghibli is and is just using his own style that happens to look similar.

he doesn't seem like some small fry tho,

When I was a child, I admired the way people made pictures move. I spent long hours watching films by famed Japanese animation company, Studio Ghibli such as Kiki’s Delivery Service, Porco Rosso, Princess Mononoke, before I could fully understand what their messages were. All I knew was that the films evoked magical worlds where bizarre creatures did outrageous things considered completely normal by the characters around them." As I got older, I began to follow Ghibli’s work obsessively, and began to appreciate Ghibli co-founder and director Hayao Miyazaki’s themes of pacifism and environmentalism more deeply. And of course, there was the music. The visuals and the music work symbiotically in a Ghibli film— always integral to the story, just as important as any main character. Joe Hisaishi’s scores complement and give life to Miyazaki’s worlds. The motifs and leitmotifs add such emotional dimension that my heart swells when I hear only a few notes.

As the result of giving a TEDxTokyo talk about my love for Japanese animation, I was extended a miraculous invitation to Studio Ghibli. Now,under normal circumstances, one does not get to go to Studio Ghibli on one’s first-ever trip to Japan…or ever, really.

did you try setting up Google Payments? For UBL you may have to get it enabled for internet transactions, Naya should work without it!
