hey guys, im really sorry if this has been addressed before but i couldnt manage to find it.

so heres the thing. i have an ntsc-j and when i try to play some of the newer games (fifa 10, GTA: Episodes, COD MW2), i get a play dvd message. iv tried the activation disc but that doesnt work.

help would be much appreciated.

Hello,
I am planing to purchase an Xbox360.
I have surveyed the market and people there are recommending a Jasper PAL console.
They are saying that nearly all games are available on PAL and also games of PAL console arrive more quickly then the NTSC/J console.
There is a considerable price difference b/w the two models, about Rs.5000.
I am getting Arcade PAL Jasper RS. 21,000 and Arcade NTSC/J Jasper for RS. 26,000.
Elite(120gb) of PAL and NTSC is about RS.31,000 to 33,000.

I am confused and do not know which console model to buy, Please guide me in purchasing a long lasting console.
Please tell me which console plays the most games PAL or NTSC/J ?
AND whether i should purchase an Elite or arcade model.
I will be playing pirated games on this console and I live in karachi.

Also guide me which accessories, i should purchase like Quick charger , Play Charge kit , HDMI cable etc.

Please reply as soon as possible.

The firmware of an Xbox 360 can be upgraded in less than 1k Rs. Check out the PG marketplace, there are some guys offering upgrades for as less as 500 Rs.

But how does it work? hoq do you change the firmware?

By opening your Xbox 360. Connecting the DVD Drive to PC via Xbox Connectivity Kit(Probing or Soldering). Installing the firmware via PC. And that is it. Its a 15 minute job actually.

Just ask somebody to do it for U. Either the shops or some1 in PG Marketplace.

Well the best choice would be Arcade Jasper Pal. Elite is of no use besides it only has a large storage device which is of no use if you want to do offline gaming. The price of Jasper is reasonable which you have posted.Other than this in Accessories you can add a 20GB HDD for your Arcade console which cost around Rs 2500.In this way you can store games in your HDD and other multimedia things (like songs,pictures.....)

Well the only difference b/w NTSC and Pal is that NTSC plays almost all the Malaysian games(Cost Rs100) which are easily available from market.On the other hand Pal plays 80% of Malaysian games available in the market but rest 20% you can download them from internet and burn on dvd by yourself(Check PG market place,there are many people who sell pal games at cheap rates).And yeah there is a slight difference at the rate of Malaysian and Write Dvds but that doesn't matter.
With the variant thing that guy is just fooling you.If the manufacture date of 360 is after Jan 2009 then its Jasper for sure. But make sure while purchasing it whether it's a Jasper or not because many tricky shopkeepers change the manufacture date sticker to sell their old stuff as Jasper. Now you will think any other way of checking whether it is Jasper or not.Yeah you can do it by simply checking the internal memory in the system settings of your console because Jasper come with internal memory of 256 or 512 MB.

Buy a charging kit for your wireless handle,that will come in handy.Other than this a hdd which will be used for storage purpose as I said before but that's optional.If you want to play games stored in HDD then go for it. An HDMI or VGA cable if you want to connect your console with Monitor.

The thing which should be noted here is that there are some games which are exclusive for Pal consoles.Like Ashes 09 and Final Fantasy 13. These games are not available on NTSC. So the choice is yours.

That doesn't matter.If your console is playing all the latest games like AC2. Tekken 6 etc then your FW is up to date. But just to acknowledge you iXtreme 1.6 is the latest FW for your drive which plays all the games.

Thank you for such a detailed reply, it really helped But i'm still confused.
If Ntsc can play all PAL games expect Ashes09 and Final Fantasy, isn't a better purchase?
But PAL on the other hand can play only few Ntsc / malaysian games.
The variants are of different shops; the RS.21,000 from one shop and RS.22,500. from another, which one should i buy?
Are you sure PAL is a good purchase as i donot want to go with the hassle of selling it and buying another?
And if i play online then will i get banned because i will be using Pirated game for playing?

Yaar let me clarify you a little here. All the game titles are released on PAL and NTSC except some which are only released on PAL region (Examples given before). Now Malaysian disks are the disk which are available in our markets.What is a Malaysian disk? Its upper part is printed with the image and lower part is golden shinny like. But some of Malaysian games are only for NTSC console(Which are about 20-30%). Now the thing which is confusing you is that Malaysian games are only for NTSC, NO this is not the case.Only 20% of Malaysian dvds are region locked which means they are only for NTSC but the dvds which are only for NTSC are easily available on internet and you can download them and burn like a computer game is burned (The procedure is little different for 360 games but that doesn't matter) or there are some shop keepers which sell burned dvds of games for Pal console.
So in short:
PAL console plays all the NTSC region games + 80% of Malaysian dvds(Rest 20% you can get Burned on Dual Layer dvds) + some of its exclusive like FF13 and Ashes 09.
NTSC console plays all Malaysian dvds but not Ashes 09 or FF13

And if i play online then will i get banned because i will be using Pirated game for playing

Replied via pm and I don't know why NTSC is more expensive than Pal. Maybe there would be some extra shipping cost for NTSC as compare to Pal.
