A sequel to The Evil Within, a horror game from Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami, will launch October 13 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, Bethesda announced today during its E3 press conference. The announcement for The Evil Within 2 was accompanied with an absolutely bonkers trailer.Tango Gameworks and Bethesda released The Evil Within in 2014. The game followed a police detective, Sebastian Castellanos, who is mysteriously transported to a bizarre and terrifying new realm while investigating a murder case. In the sequel, Sebastian returns to a nightmare world while searching for his daughter.

The Evil Within 2 launches this October

The Evil Within 2 is in the works, Bethesda Softworks revealed during its E3 2017 press conference. It will launch — very appropriately – on Friday, Oct. 13.

The publisher showed off a lengthy debut trailer for the survival horror game, which goes heavy on the voiceover. That only contributes to its spooky vibe, however — the trailer doesn’t shy away from all kinds of horrors, like burning villages, pitch-black forests, and lots and lots of dead bodies.
Veteran designer Shinji Mikami (Resident Evil, Vanquish) directed the previous entry, developed by his studio Tango Gameworks. 2014’s The Evil Within was the developer’s first project; Mikami founded Tango Gameworks in 2012 after leaving PlatinumGames two years prior.
The publisher confirmed that The Evil Within 2 arrives on PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One. It also confirmed that it will “surely be giving us all nightmares,” which we completely agree with based on what we’ve seen thus far.

Developer is Tango Games and director is Shinji Mikami, same team that did the first game.

Also, that trailer was all sorts of Death Stranding esque non sense. The game play they showed in the conference though, that looked pretty damn good. I'm super glad this is coming out so early. At least one developer is announcing big AAA games releasing this year, all other seem to be 2018 onward.

That’s the mantra running through Sebastian Castellanos’ mind. Plagued by memories of the daughter he couldn’t save and a mystery he could never solve, he begins to lose himself in his past mistakes.

Sebastian lives out his nightmares every day, unable to pull himself from his downward spiral. Until an old friend-turned-traitor reenters his life with an offer: Return to the nightmare and save your daughter.

The Evil Within 2 gives a broken man the chance to make things right and find the peace he so deserves, but he’ll have to go through hell first.

The Evil Within 2 releases worldwide Friday the 13th, October 2017 on PC.

seems like it plays just the same as the original but variety in locations and improvement in visual quality is pretty big.

The graphics look much nicer in this one, they should add a 60 fps mode for the pro!

Am I the only one who thought the first game was boring? I finished it but I really had to push myself to do it. If I were playing it now I'd have stopped after a few hours. Completely failed to capture the feel of RE 4.

Yes indeed! Although not 'great' it was good enough that it deserved a sequel!
Nicely put, janario-chan!
