Since its debut in 1984, the Terminator franchise has become one of the most popular sci-fi series there is. Helping to kick off the mainstreaming of the cyber-punk aesthetic in the mid-80s, the franchise helped catapult Arnold Schwarzenegger to stardom, all while spawning five films and a short-lived TV show. Seven years after the first movie, T2: Judgement Day proved to be an even bigger hit. And while 2003’s Rise of the Machines wasn’t looked upon kindly, it still managed to do well at the box office.
From there, however, Schwarzenegger went on to become Governor of California, but the franchise continued along. Salvation saw the series given a soft reboot, and even featured a CGI cameo from its former star. While it did alright at the box office, plans to move forward in the new world never manifested. From there, all eyes turned to 2015’s Genisys, which looked to recapture past glory by bringing back the franchise’s lead. Despite doing well at the box office, however, the dire critical reception put plans for Terminator 6on hold.
New York Daily News is now reporting that its source has revealed to them that not only is Terminator 6 not moving forward, but Schwarzenegger has no plans of continuing with the franchise:

It is over for ‘The Terminator’ and Arnold. The studio has taken the sequel off the production slate completely, meaning there is no preproduction or any plans for another sequel. The talent had been offered long term deals, but this is not happening.”

While this news may not seem too shocking, word did break early this year that James Cameron is returning to the Terminator franchise for a reboot. He has since argued that a relevant Terminator film can still be made, making the possibility of Terminator 6 seem all the more likely. Long before the Cameron news, however, Paramount had already removed a Genisys sequel from its schedule. The next blow came when Emilie Clarke stated she was done playing Sarah Conner, and the movie went dark. Despite the Cameron project appearing to be a new film, it looks as if the failure of Genisys was too much for the franchise to overcome:
“The Genisys movie was seen as a way of reviving (the franchise), but the critics were not happy and somehow the studio bosses fell out of love with making more, even though they made huge profits.”
For fans of the franchise, this will come as two separate bits of bad news. While Schwarzenegger not returning to the franchise is a bummer, it can survive without him, as it gets harder to conceivably involve him the older he gets. Given the way franchises work, it was always a matter of time before things moved forward with a fresh cast. Still, Terminator 6 would have ostensibly been the third attempt at reworking the franchise, so it’s hardly surprising that it didn’t take off. For fans of the series, though, that means it could be a good, long while before the studio – or a different one – attempts another film with the Terminator name attached.

Terminator Franchise Producer Teases Big Announcement This Year

Following the under-performance of 2015’s Terminator: Genysis (which aimed to rejuvenate interest in the Terminator franchise), the future of the time-travelling series has been in doubt. There have been multiple reports since then suggestion the Terminator franchise is getting some ‘readjusting’, in order to move forward. So far, that means Emilia Clarke won’t be reprising Sarah Connor from Genisys and series lead Arnold Schwarzenegger may be done with the Terminator franchise too.
With so much up in the air regarding the Terminator franchise’s future right now, there’s even been reason to wonder if the property is simply done for good, at this stage. Skydance producer David Ellison is attempting to put fans’ minds at ease by teasing that a concrete update on the state of all things Terminator, is right around the corner.
In an interview with Collider, Ellison offered the following with respect to the Terminator franchise:
“I will say we have resolved the future of the franchise and believe me its an incredibly bright future. I think where it’s going will be the continuation of what the fans really wanted since T2.
“We have something this year that we will be announcing for the franchise. It’s something we’re incredibly excited about and we think is the direction it needs to head.”

Ellison’s comments are essentially a reiteration of statements following the release of Genysis that the franchise needs a course-correction. Still, the focus on continuation from the end-point of T2 is an exciting prospect, given recent reports that James Cameron is returning to the Terminator franchise to produce a potential Terminator reboot. Cameron has argued that a ‘relevant’ Terminator movie is still possible – and with the rights of the franchise returning to Cameron in 2019, Ellison’s comments could well mean that the filmmaker is prepared to pick up where he left off.

Either way, with four Avatar sequels on his to-do list, Cameron won’t be serving as a director on any Terminator projects anytime soon. Early last year, Skydance Creative Officer Dana Goldberg alternatively suggested that the Terminator franchise could expand its field of view, opting in for a shared universe format that could include a return to TV. That prospect might not excite fans as much as the idea of Cameron retaking the reins of the beloved series, but it’s certainly something that promises to mix things up more than a direct followup to Genisys would have done.

[h=1]Arnold Schwarzenegger Says He’s Back For James Cameron-Produced Terminator 6[/h]

It sounds like he’ll be back again: Arnold Schwarzenegger says he’s going to be returning for Terminator 6. The future of the Terminator franchise has been in flux since Terminator Genisys in 2015. The oddly-spelt fifth entry was intended to be the start of a new trilogy, but bombed hard at the domestic box office. Strong performance in China made Paramount think again about canning a sequel, although things were further complicated by the fact series creator James Cameron is set to reclaim the rights in 2019.
The result has been a series of on-off reports of Terminator 6; it’s on hold, then it’s re-adjusting, now it’s possible, next it’s canceled. The latest word was incredibly positive, with it reported that Cameron was prepping to come back as series “godfather” to produce a reboot directed by Deadpool’s Tim Miller. Word has been quiet since then, but now we have a very promising update from the series’ star.
Talking to Screen at Cannes, Arnold Schwarzenegger revealed that he’s met with Cameron to discuss the movie and will return in some form:
“It is back. It is moving forward. He [Cameron] has some good ideas of how to continue with the franchise. I will be in the movie.”

Schwarzenegger had previously been attached to a Paramount-produced Genisys sequel and even after that was dropped from the schedule had been open about his desire to return elsewhere. However, this is the first time he’s linked himself to the proposed Cameron project. The Terminator confirmation wasn’t the only news he had; he also reaffirmed that his reboot of The Legend of Conan isn’t actually dead and that long-gestating Twins sequel could go into production this year.
Producer David Ellison had previously promised that fans could expect a major announcement regarding Terminator in 2017, saying that the franchise’s new direction would be “the continuation of what the fans really wanted since T2“. Presumably this project, in whatever form, is what he’s referring to. Cameron hasn’t been coy about not really being a fan of what came after his first two films (despite endorsing Genisys) and so that definitely fits his focus.
Of course, what exactly this Terminator 6 will look like or when it will arrive is presently unclear. The currently revealed plans are surely in anticipation of the rights expiring in two years time, so many things – including director and script – are open to change. Still, this is a very positive development for fans hoping that Terminator will continue and hopefully move past what has now been for many three disappointments in a row.
Stay tuned to Screen Rant for all updates on Terminator‘s future.

[h=1]Terminator 6: Tim Miller is Officially Directing[/h]

Tim Miller is officially onboard to direct Terminator 6 with James Cameron producing. After multiple poor attempts to revitalize the franchise, the rights to Terminator are finally poised to revert back to Cameron come 2019. As a result, he has been working on a way to revitalize the franchise in a big way. However, as he has already lined up four additional Avatar films, he was looking for a partner in this endeavor.
Once it was revealed that Cameron planned to reboot the franchise – one that is expected to wipe clean anything after T2: Judgement Day – Tim Miller’s name was instantly said to be in talks to direct. Yet, in the months since, there has been no word on whether or not the deal was closed.
Thanks to a social media post from Skydance, shared by Skynet’s Army, it has finally been confirmed that Miller will indeed direct the next Terminator film. The confirmation comes courtesy of an invite to a special 3D screening of T2 that will feature a conversation with Cameron and Miller before the movie starts. Here is a brief description of what to expect:
Join filmmakers James Cameron and Tim Miller on the Paramount Lot for an exclusive conservation with The Hollywood Reporter’s Matt Belloni about their collaboration on the upcoming Terminator.

Now that Tim Miller is officially announced to be directing, fans can start to get excited for what the director of Deadpool will do with a new franchise. Thanks to his visual arts background with Blur Studios – the company behind sequences in Avatar and doing trailers for Star Wars video games as well as the Batman: Akrham series – the possibilities of what he and Cameron will come up with sure are enticing.
Since Miller has not previously been confirmed for the project, he has not tipped off where he plans to take the franchise next. Cameron on the other hand is full of ideas and already is planning to do a trilogy of new Terminator films, with Miller’s film being the first part. Cameron is also making sure that this will be relevant to modern audiences. But, the new direction of the franchise will not be without its familiar elements. Arnold Schwarzenegger has confirmed that he will be back as well, but where else the story will go is unknown.
With Miller and Cameron slated to speak together publicly next week, it should not be long before we get a more clear idea of what they have in store. Lucky for them, the bar has not been set terribly high recently, but Cameron still has to live up to the glory of the first two films.

[h=1]Terminator 6: Linda Hamilton Returning as Sarah Connor[/h]

Linda Hamilton, the original Sarah Connor, is reportedly returning for the upcoming Terminator sequel directed by Deadpool helmer Tim Miller. It will be Hamilton’s first turn as the heroic Connor since Terminator 2: Judgment Day in 1991.
Hamilton originally portrayed the character in the franchise’s first installment, The Terminator, in 1984. Connor was a young waitress who found herself hunted by the titular killer robot from the future – portrayed by future Governor of California Arnold Schwarzenegger – as she was destined to give birth to a pivotal figure in the coming war between humanity and the machines. Hamilton reprised the role in Terminator 2: Judgment Day, a decidedly more battle-hardened version of Connor who found herself allied with a different version of Schwarzenegger’s muscle-bound robot in an effort to protect her young son from new threats from the future. That was Hamilton’s last turn in the role, though Sarah Connor has continued on, both in the TV series The Sarah Connor Chronicles, where she was played by Game of Thrones’ Lena Headey, and in the ill-fated big screen reboot attempt Terminator: Genisys, portrayed by yet another Game of Thrones veteran in Emilia Clarke.

It appears that the next Terminator film will go back to the series’ roots. Per a report from THR, James Cameron – director of the first two Terminator films and producer on Miller’s upcoming installment – has said sHamilton will return as Sarah Connor, alongside Schwarzenegger in a story that will serve as a direct sequel to Judgment Day. Cameron also indicates the film will hopefully be the beginning of a trilogy, and that they are looking for a young actress to eventually take on the mantle of the franchise.

This is tremendously good news for fans wondering if the Terminator franchise had anything left in the tank. After the middling Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, a more radical overhaul of the property was attempted with Terminator Salvation, which shifted the setting to the future war where an adult John Connor (Christian Bale) led the resistance against the machines. That approach – which largely omitted Schwarzenegger – proved unsuccessful, and Terminator: Genisys was framed as something of a back-to-basics take on the franchise, once again set in modern times and with Schwarzenegger at the forefront. However, that movie’s story was a convoluted mess, and it was met with both critical disdain and non-existent domestic box office, leaving many to wonder if it was time to simply retire the venerable sci-fi franchise.
Both the involvement of Cameron and the return of Hamilton are the two biggest reasons to be excited about another Terminator installment in a long time, and might be the shot in the arm the franchise has needed for well over a decade.

[h=1]Terminator 6 Will Ignore Terminator: Genisys Entirely[/h]

Terminator 6 will ignore Terminator: Genisys entirely, star Arnold Schwarzenegger has confirmed. While the first two Terminator movies – which were both written and directed by James Cameron – are almost sacred texts for sci-fi and action fans, later entries in the franchise left audiences cold.
Terminator 3: Rise Of The Machines has its fans, but has been criticized for recycling key elements of its predecessors and for having an over-the-top sense of humor. 2009’s Terminator: Salvation was sold as a return to form, but criticized fro its muddled storyline, plodding pace and Christian Bale feeling oddly miscast as John Connor. Terminator: Genisys was again billed as a fresh start and featured the return of Schwarzenegger, but aside from his performance nearly everything about the film was panned, and talk for a direct sequel quickly cooled after its release.
[h=4]With James Cameron returning to the series for the sixth movie it was assumed Terminator: Genisys would be ignored, and now Schwarzenegger has confirmed just that to The Terminator Fans. The star was at an event called An Experience With Arnold Schwarzenegger in the UK, where he revealed other details about Terminator 6 – which he confirmed won’t be the actual title.[/h]He confirmed that Linda Hamilton is currently training for her return as Sarah Connor, that Robert Patrick – who memorably portrayed the T-1000 in Judgment Day – won’t be involved, and that he’s due to receive the script very soon, which is based on a story by Cameron. He also said the film will begin shooting by March 2018.

While Schwarzenegger only confirmed Genisys would be ignored, it seems likely that Rise of the Machines and Salvation will also be overlooked. The timeline and continuity of the series has gotten messy across the various sequels and its doubtful audiences will complain if Cameron wants to wipe the slate clean. The reunion of Cameron, Schwarzenegger and Hamilton is a big reason fans feel hopeful for another installment, with a feeling that it will be the true Terminator 3. That said, it’s worth noting Cameron spoke in favor of Genisys and even appeared in a video singing its praises before release.
Still, there’s a certain comfort with knowing the creator of the series is returning to shepherd the project. While the storyline has yet to be revealed for Terminator 6, Cameron recently spoke in an interview about the themes the film will explore:
“I mean, a lot of the things that were science fiction in Terminator are now around us. You know, from predator drones… and actual discussions on the ethics on having a robot have its own kill decision possibilities, things like that; it’s actually happening. So, ‘Okay, maybe there is room for a film that examines these themes.’ It just has to be retooled for an audiences’ expectations from now.”

Since Cameron is currently busy filming Avatar 2, directing duties on Terminator 6 will instead fall to Tim Miller, with an estimated release date in 2019.

[h=1]Terminator 6 is a Judgement Day Sequel; Movies 3-5 Are An Alternate Timeline[/h]

James Cameron confirms that Terminator 6 will serve as a direct sequel to his Terminator 2: Judgment Day, ignoring the events of the films that have been released in the years after. Cameron, who directed the first two Terminator films, has been absent from the franchise since 1991, but he is making a (hopefully) triumphant return for this latest entry in the role as producer while he works on his four Avatar sequels.
Since first hitting our screens in 1984, audiences have rolled with the good, the bad, and the ugly of Terminator movies, with Cameron rescuing the franchise from the brink of extinction. With a timeline that is possibly about to get more complicated than the convoluted X-Men universe, Cameron has unveiled exactly where 2019’s “rebooted” Terminator 6 will sit in the world of Skynet and Schwarzenegger.
Speaking in an interview with THR, the 63-year-old director confessed that he and co-director Tim Miller had decided to stick with what has worked in the past when it comes to mapping out the future of Terminator:

“This is a continuation of the story from Terminator 1 and Terminator 2. And we’re pretending the other films were a bad dream. Or an alternate timeline, which is permissible in our multi-verse. This was really driven more by [Tim] than anybody, surprisingly, because I came in pretty agnostic about where we took it. The only thing I insisted on was that we somehow revamp it and reinvent it for the 21st century.”

The idea to forget what didn’t fly for the series may be a godsend, while the old “alternate timeline” trick can be a helpful way to pave over some bad memories. It is no secret that the ongoing Terminator movies have been slipping in their popularity after Terminator 2: Judgment Day bowed out of cinemas in 1991, so why wouldn’t you go back before you go forward? Although 2003’s Rise of the Machines faired reasonably well in the critic’s stakes, audiences will also have undoubtedly noticed a dip in the quality of the films since Cameron’s departure. With Judgement Day still being the highest-grossing movie in the series – and netting an impressive $521 million – it isn’t surprising that Cameron is picking up where he left off.
Similarly, you have to applaud the dynamic duo for trying to reinvent Terminator for the 21st Century without making it seem like a cheap cash in. Given that lead star Arnold Schwarzenegger is already 70, some fresh blood may help an already aging concept and introduce it to a whole new generation. Here’s hoping that with more Arnie, a returning Linda Hamilton, and Cameron all on board for another rumble with the robots, we are onto a winning formula for box office (and critical) success.

[h=1]Terminator 6 Sets Summer 2019 Release Date[/h]

Tim Miller’s Terminator 6 will hit theaters in summer of 2019. The Terminator franchise has obviously had its ups and downs over the years, with the last three installments – Jonathan Mostow’s Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, McG’s Terminator: Salvation, and Alan Taylor’s Terminator: Genisys – all failing to launch new trilogies. Paramount Pictures initially had two additional release dates set for Genisys‘ sequels, but the film’s critical and (domestic) commercial failure forced the studio to abandon those plans, which opened the door for franchise creator James Cameron to return.
Cameron boarded Terminator 6 earlier this year as executive producer, with Deadpool director Tim Miller helming the upcoming sequel. And as far as casting goes, Arnold Schwarzenegger confirmed his return as the iconic T-800 but with a twist: he will also be playing the human basis for the original terminator, thus allowing the sixth installment to provide some background information for the sci-fi character. To excite fans even more, original series start Linda Hamilton will be reprising her role as Sarah Connor after more than two decades away.

Terminator 6 will reportedly enter production in early 2018, and THR reports that the film is set to arrive in theaters on July 26, 2019. That particular release date is currently open, but that means the untitled sequel will be going up against Jon Favreau’s The Lion King CGI remake during its second week. If Favreau’s The Jungle Book is any indicator, The Lion King will certainly have quite the impact at the global box office. Of course, both films cater to different audiences and the summer blockbuster season is always jam-packed.

In addition to introducing audiences to the human basis for the T-800, Cameron has confirmed that Terminator 6 will completely ignore the last three franchise movies, thus making the new installment a direct sequel to the filmmaker’s Terminator 2: Judgment Day, which released in 1991. Moreover, that means the last three chapters will be labeled non-canon. Although it’s easy to ignore past sequels, it begs the question, where will Cameron take the franchise next?
Regardless of what Cameron and Miller decide, the legendary filmmaker plans on reinventing the franchise with Terminator 6 and potentially using the sequel to spawn a new trilogy. Given the franchise’s track-record with spawning/completing trilogies, hopefully, Cameron has better luck than past filmmakers have had with the time-traveling sci-fi epic. The only thing that would make all this news better is if original series co-creator Gale Anne Hurd also joined the fold, but she currently has her hands full shepherding The Walking Dead for AMC.

[h=1]Terminator 6 Director Wants to ‘Embrace’ Schwarzenegger’s Age[/h]

Tim Miller explains how Arnold Schwarzenegger’s age will factor into his reprisal of his role as the T-800 in Terminator 6. Schwarzenegger catapulted to stardom playing the iconic time-traveling character in James Cameron’s The Terminator in 1984 and again in Terminator 2: Judgment Day in 1991. Although he managed to return for Jonathan Mostow’s Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines in 2003, doing so again for Alan Taylor’s Terminator: Genisys in 2015 brought up some issues regarding the actor’s age. After all, how could a machine succumb to human aging?
Shortly before Genisys hit theaters, Cameron explained that the reason Schwarzenegger was able to return and still play the T-800 is because the flesh covering the mechanical skeleton was real, something that Kyle Reese had explained in the original film. The T-800 is a cyborg; therefore, he’s able to physically age in order to blend in with others. While Genisys only focused on the physical aspect of the terminator’s aging process, Miller wants to take things a step further with the upcoming sequel.
[h=3]
Terminator 6
has been slated to release in July 2019, with Schwarzenegger reprising his role as the T-800 and Linda Hamilton coming back as Sarah Connor. While Hamilton’s age is a non-issue for the film since her character is human, Schwarzenegger’s age presents a problem for casual moviegoers. However, that’s something that Miller wants to fully embrace, telling THR:[/h]

“I haven’t talked to Arnold about this so I could get in trouble. But because he’s been in all the other movies — unlike Linda — I do think there needs to be a reason to be different here. I like my sci-fi grounded. I like my characters grounded. And what Jim said about the exterior aging while the interior remains the same — well, not the interior, as in the brain, as emotionally and intellectually he will have evolved. They’re learning machines. But that’s a way to make it different than it was. Even in Genisys, he looked — I should stop — he was a slightly gussied-up version of the old Terminator. I think we should embrace his age. And that’s what’s going to make it interesting and fresh for the fans.”

Cameron has previously talked about wanting to reinvent the franchise and provide something fresh for longtime fans. Of course, that reinvention could come in many forms, but Miller’s hope to have the T-800 age emotionally and intellectually, in addition to aging physically, will certainly turn the tables on the actor and character. It’ll not only differentiate the film from Genisys but also set the stage for future stories that could exist without Schwarzenegger, should he choose not to return for the rest of Cameron’s planned sequels.
In addition to focusing on the aging aspect of the story, Terminator 6 will also provide a backstory for the human basis of the T-800, something that hasn’t necessarily been explored in past chapters. Now, if everything goes according to plan, audiences may just have another Terminator trilogy on their hands.

[h=1]Terminator 6: Robert Patrick Would ‘Absolutely’ Return[/h]

Terminator 2: Judgement Day star Robert Patrick says he would return for Terminator 6. James Cameron’s The Terminator first hit theaters in 1984 and delivered a successfully thrilling science fiction/action adventure. The Terminator was a critical and financial success, so Cameron returned for a sequel, Terminator 2, which debuted seven years after the initial film in 1991. Though Cameron stepped away from the sci-fi franchise following the sequel, the Terminator series continued on with Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines in 2003, Terminator Salvation in 2009, and most recently Terminator Genisys in 2015.

However, the franchise hasn’t been as successful since Cameron left. That changed earlier this year though, when it was revealed he’s set to return as a producer on the upcoming sixth Terminator film, which will be directed by Tim Miller (Deadpool). Arnold Schwarzenegger started off the series as its titular villain, but turned into an ally for Sarah and John Connor in Terminator 2. Instead of Schwarzenegger’s futuristic T-800, Sarah and John were forced to run from the newer model, the T-1000, played by Robert Patrick. Though Patrick hasn’t returned to the Terminator franchise since Judgement Day, he says he would reprise his role – or return in some other fashion, presumably – for Terminator 6.
[h=4]During a New York Comic Con roundtable interview for Patrick’s upcoming project, Amazon’s Lore, Screen Rant asked the actor if he’d be willing to return to the Terminator series. Patrick replied: “Absolutely! Anybody [asks] me to do anything, return anywhere, I am there.” However, the actor did not reveal whether he’d been contacted about reprising his role for Terminator 6.[/h]

In terms of what we know about the upcoming installment in the franchise, Cameron and Miller are preparing to start filming in 2018 for a 2019 release date. It will be a direct sequel to Terminator 2, so Terminator 6 will ignore the continuity of T3, Salvation, and Genisys, which are said to take place in an alternate timeline. Plus, in addition to Cameron, original Sarah Connor actress, Linda Hamilton, and Schwarzenegger will be back – the latter previously reprised his Terminator role for Genisys, but will play the human that the T-800 is based on in the upcoming installment.
Since Schwarzenegger and Hamilton are heading back to the popular sci-fi franchise, it’s not out of the realm of possibility that Cameron and Miller would want to bring back Patrick as well – if the story warrants it, of course. Even if Terminator 6 were to only include a small role or cameo for Patrick, fans would no doubt appreciate it considering his and Terminator 2’s popularity. The sequel was recently rereleased in 3D to the delight of the film’s fans.
Of course, whether Patrick does reprise his Terminator role for the upcoming sixth film remains to be seen. But fans can at least take heart that he seems willing, and even excited, by the prospect of returning to the series for Cameron and Miller’s Terminator 6.

[h=1]Schwarzenegger Says Terminator 6 Is ‘Whole New Movie’[/h]

Terminator 6 will be keeping things simple, according to star Arnold Schwarzenegger. While the first two Terminator movies are considered classics of the genre, many fans and critics would agree the quality dipped following James Cameron’s departure from the series. Terminator 3: Rise Of The Machines was a competent action movie with a great twist ending, but it lacked the flair and creativity of the previous movies.
Schwarzenegger had to sit out Terminator: Salvation due to his political career; but while Christian Bale came onboard as John Connor, the movie left many cold, and failed to kickstart a planned trilogy. The most recent entry – Terminator: Genisys – met with near-universal scorn for its weak story and uninspired action. The announcement that Terminator 6 will see the reunion of Arnold, James Cameron and Linda Hamilton has gotten people excited again, and the film promises to ignore anything beyond Terminator 2: Judgment Day.
[h=4]In an interview with Business Insider, Schwarzenegger was keen to reinforce that this will be a new start for the series. The star acknowledged the storytelling failings of the previous adventure, stating “It’s hard to come up with new ideas when you stay within that framework,” and that the next entry will keep things relatively simple:[/h]

“I think [James] Cameron and Tim [Miller] came up with a concept where they can continue on with the T-800 but make a whole new movie. What they are doing now with this one is basically to just take a few very basic characters, like Linda Hamilton’s character and my character, and dismiss everything else. Just move away from all these rules of the timeline and other characters.”

Director Tim Miller also confirmed the new movie will embrace Schwarzenegger’s age, and the actor spoke a little about what makes the character so interesting to play after all these years:

“I think the T-800 model is a really interesting character. He’s a machine, can be destructive, can do things human beings can’t do, but at the same time when newer technology comes along the character is suddenly vulnerable and that makes him even more interesting.”

It’s no surprise the next Terminator will be paring things down, as the various sequels have now spawned multiple timelines. Terminator: Genisys came in for sharp critique of its confused logic and timeline – a complaint even director Alan Taylor had to acknowledge. The crew behind the next movie is doing a lot to inspire confidence in the fanbase so far, from bringing back Sarah Connor to retconning the much-maligned sequels out of existence.
While Cameron’s return is definitely an exciting development, time will tell if it was the right move or not. A common complaint of the various Cameron-less sequels is that Terminator 2 wrapped up the story perfectly, and no more stories needed to be told. That said, the franchise’s creator seems genuinely excited about the concept he and Tim Miller have cooked up for Terminator 6, and has gone so far as to call it the real sequel to Terminator 2.

[h=1]Terminator 6 Recruits Captain Phillips Writer, New Details Revealed[/h]

The next Terminator film is edging a little bit nearer to being back on the screens, as it’s just been announced that a new writer is working on the script for Terminator 6. Alongside that piece of news, some interesting details concerning new characters in the movie have just emerged, and a possible new central location for the time-travelling action movie.
It was in May of this year when the first confirmation of a new James Cameron-produced Terminator film was announced, and that Arnold Schwarzenegger would be returning again as the T-800. This was swiftly followed by the news that Linda Hamilton would also be reprising her iconic role as the heroic Sarah Connor, and that Tim Miller would be directing. Unlike the two previous attempts to reboot or retcon the franchise – namely Genisys and Salvation – this new film will be a straight sequel to T2: Judgement Day and pretty much ignore every other entry that followed. Cameron even went as far to announce that parts 3-5 were in an alternate timeline.

With the film still due to be released in Summer 2019, it’s just been announced by Variety that a new writer has joined the team to polish the latest draft of the script. Personally chosen by Cameron and Miller, Billy Ray (Captain Phillips) is now working on providing a final version of the screenplay, which is based on a story crafted by Cameron, Miller, and Skydance founder David Ellison. Given Ray’s past work, hopefully this will turn into a story that is worthy of continuing the cult appeal of the first two films and provide a worthy follow-up.

In addition to that announcement, Jeff Sneider – from The Tracking Board – has also shared information on Twitter concerning some of the existing plot specifics. Reportedly, at least a portion of the story may be set in Mexico City, and casting is ongoing for an “18-year-old Mexican actress” to play the young female lead, called Dani Ramos. A Latin actor is also said to be sought to play a new villain, who will need to have a fight/stunt background due to the physicality of the role. This very much sounds like it could be a next-gen version of Sarah Connor and a T-800/T-1000. The new location quoted is also very intriguing and possibly points to a new direction for the action set-pieces.
With the previous two films having failed to kick-start the franchise to any great extent, the addition of Ray and the casting/location updates all point to some sturdy work going on behind the scenes. With the film still expected to go in front of cameras during March 2018, maybe this time the franchise will be back for good. We’ll bring you more updates on Terminator 6 as we get them.

[h=1]Terminator 6 Reveals New Filming Start Date & Casting Details[/h]

Director Tim Miller’s currently-untitled Terminator 6 has gotten a new filming start date, along with additional casting details for the movie’s young protagonist, Dani Ramos. The project is bringing back original Terminator stars Linda Hamilton and Arnold Schwarzenegger as, respectively, Sarah Connor and the human basis for the T-800 Terminator, drawing from an original story co-developed by Miller and the creator of the Terminator franchise, James Cameron.
While 2015’s Terminator: Genisys was a critical disappointment and underperformed at the domestic box office, its global haul of $350.8 million was enough to prevent the sci-fi property from being permanently retired. The sixth Terminator movie is the first installment since Terminator 2: Judgement Day to feature Cameron in a significant creative capacity, and will reboot the franchise again by ignoring the events of the three Terminator films after Judgement Day. Miller was previously set to begin filming Terminator 6 in March, but is now getting some additional time for pre-production and casting.

TerminatorFans has uncovered a casting notice for the Dani Ramos character, indicating that filming on Terminator 6 is now set to begin in May rather than next month. Omega Underground is separately confirming that Terminator 6′s production will now take place from May through to November of this year, with shooting locations that include the U.K., Spain, and Budapest. You can read the official character description for Dani from the casting notice, below:

Dani Ramos is a young woman in her early 20s from Mexico City. She was brought up in a working-class neighborhood, is independent and believes strongly in family. She’s more street-smart than book smart and is a woman who always manages to find a ray of light even in the darkest of circumstances.
This casting notice aligns with previously reported plot details for Terminator 6, suggesting that part of the story will take place in Mexico City and introduce a new villain (possibly a Terminator, played by a Latino actor) alongside Dani. It is believed that the intention here is to establish Dani as a protagonist who can carry the Terminator movie franchise from hereon out, while at the same time providing a satisfying final hurrah for both Hamilton and Schwarzenegger in their respective Terminator roles.
Making a woman of color the new star of the Terminator franchises sounds like a smart way to keep the series alive and relevant, at a time when more and more people are calling for not only female action stars, but non-white female leads in general. Whoever signs on to play Dani will need to be able to carry the property on their shoulders even without Hamilton and Schwarzenegger around to lighten the load, similar to what Daisy Ridley and John Boyega are doing with the current Star Wars trilogy. That’s all the more reason for Miller and his team to take their time with casting the role and not rush into production.

[h=1]Arnold Schwarzenegger Confirms Terminator 6 Summer Start Date[/h]

After a brief delay, filming is due to commence on Terminator 6 this summer. The first two Terminator movies were written and directed by James Cameron and are rightly considered classics of the action genre – in addition to making Arnold Schwarzenegger one of the biggest movie stars on the planet. Despite the enormous success of the second movie, legal wrangles and creative disagreements saw that the third film – Rise Of The Machines – take 12 years to get made.
Cameron wasn’t involved with the third movie either, and while it’s a fun action film in its own way, it’s a essentially a lukewarm remake of the second movie. The series only declined in quality from there. 2009’s Terminator: Salvation managed to snag Christian Bale to play John Connor, but a patchy script – one constantly being rewritten during the shoot – and lackluster pacing meant it failed to relaunch the series. The last sequel, Terminator: Genisys, saw the return of Arnold Schwarzenegger, but the film itself received a near-universe panning, focusing on the convoluted plot and uninvolving action sequences.

The forthcoming Terminator 6 will be a fresh start; not only will it ignore parts 3-5, but it marks the return of Arnold, Linda Hamilton as Sarah Connor, and James Cameron as producer. The film was due to start filming in March, but the start date was pushed back. Now Arnie himself has confirmed to The Arnold Fans that the Tim Miller-directed sequel will be shooting by this summer:
“We are starting to shoot Terminator 6 in June to the middle of October, so I am in that. I am looking forward to coming back as the T-800 model. It’s gonna be great with Tim Miller as the director and Jim Cameron is kind of supervising the whole thing.”

While Cameron is busy with his Avatar sequels, he’s had a heavy creative role in bringing Terminator 6 to life, and promising the jilted fanbase the movie will be the true third movie. While plot details are still sketchy, Cameron and Miller have said the film will touch on contemporary fears about technology, and the story will involve a young new protagonist named Dani Ramos. Should the movie be a hit, a further two sequels are promised.
The team behind Terminator 6 are doing a good job of soothing fan fears, and it’s undoubtedly exciting to have both Cameron and Hamilton back, but there’s still the question of whether another sequel is necessary. Terminator 2: Judgment Day did a great job of rounding out the story over 20 years ago – something subsequent follow-ups proved time and time again. Hopefully, the story of the new movie will find a fresh take on the series’ mythology, and be the sequel fans have been dreaming of for decades.

[h=1]Terminator 6 Lines Up Mackenzie Davis to Play a Soldier-Assassin[/h]

Tully and Blade Runner 2049 actress Mackenzie Davis is in talks to join the cast of Terminator 6. Tim Miller directs the sixth Terminator installment, a direct sequel to Terminator 2: Judgment Day. Plot specifics remain under wraps but James Cameron says the movie will ignore all the sequels he himself did not guide. So, everything from Terminator 3 on no longer counts.
Released in 1984, The Terminator launched the career of James Cameron as a major Hollywood player. The sci-fi film also boosted Arnold Schwarzenegger, who later became one of the biggest action stars of all-time. Schwarzenegger returned for the 1991 sequel, but it was Linda Hamilton’s performance as Sarah Connor that arguably raised the film to iconic status. Hamilton’s Connor, at first a victim but later a warrior, helped establish the template for female action heroes to come. Attempts to resurrect the character via future films, plus the TV series Sarah Connor Chronicles, never quite came off. Perhaps that’s why James Cameron talked Hamilton into returning to appear in Terminator 6 alongside Schwarzenegger.

As reported by THR, Terminator 6 is now negotiating with Davis to join Hamilton and Schwarzenegger. Davis reportedly would play a solder-assassin on a mission who in some way sets up the action. It remains unclear how prominent Davis’ role would be or if her character would continue into future films. Previous reports indicated Terminator 6 will be led by a new young protagonist named Dani Ramos, and that the studio wants a Latina actress to take on the role. With the film set in Mexico, a Latino actor would also reportedly play the new Terminator.

In true reboot style, Terminator 6 would set up the new characters while giving Schwarzenegger and Hamilton a chance to bow out. It sounds as though the uncast Dani character would be the new Sarah Connor, the future face of the franchise. Davis’ character, meanwhile, sounds like a gender-swapped version of the Michael Biehn character from the original Terminator. In that film, Biehn time-travels back from a war-ravaged future to prevent Schwarzenegger’s cyborg assassin from killing Hamilton’s Connor, who is destined to give birth to humanity’s savior. Terminator 6 then sounds like possibly a beat-for-beat remake of Terminator, much in the style of other recent soft reboots.
With her impending casting in Terminator 6, Davis continues her rise up the ranks of young Hollywood actresses. Davis made her first major impact playing Cameron on AMC’s critically lauded series Halt and Catch Fire. Last year, Davis impressed as Replicant prostitute Mariette in Blade Runner 2049. She’s currently receiving strong notices for her performance as the title character of Jason Reitman’s Tully, starring Charlize Theron as a harried mom. Davis will also star with Stranger Things actor Finn Wolfhard in the horror film The Turning.

[h=1]Terminator 6 Release Date Pushed Back to November 2019[/h]

James Cameron’s revival of Terminator will take a bit longer as Terminator 6 moves its 2019 release back four months. After stringing along the Terminator franchise, Paramount saw the rights to Cameron’s iconic franchise shift back into the hands of its creator. Cameron is wasting no time getting the franchise back to the way he wants it, and is teaming up with Deadpool director Tim Miller to do so. The plan for the untitled sixth installment will actually retcon everything that came after T2: Judgement Day.
By doing this, Cameron and Miller will also bring back the stars of the first two films Arnold Schwarzenegger and Linda Hamilton. But, it will actually be Mackenzie Davis and a yet-to-be-named young Latina character who will be given the primary roles. It’s been confirmed multiple times the film starts shooting in June, and now it has a little more breathing room to finish.

The Wrap shared the news that Paramount and Skydance have pushed Terminator 6 back a few months from its previously announced July 26, 2019 release date. The reboot/sequel will instead hit theaters on November 22, 2019. It is unknown if this will change the production timeline on the movie.

The addition of Terminator 6 makes for an already busy November in 2019. Wonder Woman 2 is kicking off the month, followed by Bond 25 the week after, followed by Sonic the Hedgehog (which Miller’s also producing). It will also currently pit Terminator 6 up against an unknown X-Men film that 20th Century Fox previously dated. As if that wasn’t enough, Frozen 2 then opens just five days later over Thanksgiving weekend – and doesn’t leave a ton of separation between Terminator 6 and Star Wars: Episode IX.
As packed as this move now makes the end of 2019, Terminator 6 should be counter programing and aimed at a more mature audience. The same would’ve been true if it stuck to its July release date, too, even if the competition is arguably more intense. July 2019 has Spider-Man: Homecoming 2, Top Gun: Maverick, and The Lion King, and this reboot would’ve gone toe-to-toe with Dwayne Johnson’s Fast & Furious spinoff.
Wherever Terminator 6 was going to land, it would’ve faced steep competition, so there’s a chance this is ultimately the better landing spot. Not only that, but for a franchise that thrived in the 80s and still holds up to this day because of its effects (both practical and visual), giving them even more time to polish the movie in post-production should pay off. This move doesn’t appear to be the studio having a lack of confidence or any behind-the-scenes trouble, so really the only frustrating aspect of this could be having to wait even longer to hopefully see a proper return for the franchise.

Who is even excited for this movie? Man, that Genysis was bad. Really really bad. Even Tim Miller and Mackanzie Davis can't make me excited. Or Jim Cameron.

[h=1]Terminator 6 Casts Diego Boneta in Key Role[/h]

Scream Queens star Diego Boneta is set to play a key role in Terminator 6. James Cameron finally has full control over his beloved sci-fi franchise, and is working closely with Tim Miller on a reboot. The former Deadpool director is retconning the mistakes made with the Terminator franchise though, as Arnold Schwarzenegger and Linda Hamilton will appear. The movie will serve as a long-awaited sequel to T2, but also relaunch the IP with new characters ready to fight the war against the machines.
So far, Blade Runner 2049‘s Mackenzie Davis is the biggest get for the reboot. Her character has been described as a soldier/assassin from the future and is set to play a major role, but not the leading role. Theories have begun that she’s a new Terminator who will fight with the new human characters, which reportedly includes a young Latina as the lead.

Even though that role has yet to be filled, THR reports that Scream Queens star Diego Boneta has landed a key human role in the new Terminator. Boneta previously starred in Rock of Ages with Tom Cruise, and is part of the cast of Netflix’s recently launched The Titan with Sam Worthington – who, as it so happens, has his own Terminator connection thanks to his role in Terminator Salvation.

What makes Boneta’s casting especially interesting are the previous reports stating that Terminator 6 centers around a young woman. With Boneta being the second cast addition, he’s clearly going to be a big part of the new movie. It’s too early to tell exactly what the longterm plan is for Boneta’s Terminator character of course, but there’s a reasonable chance that he’s somehow connected directly to the movie’s as-yet upcast young female lead.
Since the film’s young Latina protagonist is said to be around 18 years old, it’s plausible that Boneta is playing her older brother. It wouldn’t be unlike Terminator to dive into family dynamics either, so having Boneta be the guardian of the franchise’s new face would fit. It’d further make sense why THR‘s report states he has a key human role in the movie. That said: if the Latina lead is the focus and Boneta is some sort of protector for her, then their relationship will hopefully be a far cry from those between the Connors in the previous Terminator movies.
Considering that Terminator 6 (official titled TBA) was just pushed back four months, it’s possible that we won’t get much (if any) clarity on the rest of the film’s cast and their roles for awhile longer now. We will bring you more details on that front as they become available.
