Hi guys, I am using Nayatel since 2014, before that we had a 512kb internet lol and the switch blowed my mind, I must say they have a very good service. Now we are moving to Bahria Enclave and I called them to ask if they have their service there but to my surprise they said that they don't, there is only one sector which have their coverage but not ours and they also added that they do not even have a plan yet to cover that area. Even though I don't game much now but I am sad.
Can you guys recommend anything? or recommend if Ptcl is the only way to go then what package do you suggest? I get like 140ms ping in BFV, how much should I expect on Ptcl?
I totally have 0 experience with ISPs because Nayatel was so good that I have been in my comfort zone from 5 years.

Bahria Enclave has PTCL GPON FTTH, so the level of service should be the same, but customer support and whatnot will be typical PTCL incompetence when you do run into a problem.

Pings can fluctuate. If the routing is okay, you'll get good ping. As low as 120 ms on EU. If the routing sucks, you'll get 200 to EU and there will be nobody to complain to since they don't understand what ping is.

Since there is GPON in Bahria Enclave, you can get any package starting from 8 Mbps all the way to 100 Mbps. No stupid data caps like Nayatel.
If 100 is too expensive or unnecessary for your usage, I'd say either 25 or 50 Mbps is the sweet spot depending on how many people you will be living with.

Hmm very right, but you know that data cap thing is super usable to those who do jobs/uni because for the most of the day we are not at home hence no data usage and when we do come, there is unlimited data from 7 or 8pm onwards and therefore it is priced much lower at 1700pkrs @ 15mbps. Ptcl is way too expensive for that at 3600 (according to sales guy) @15mbps.
And we don't require very high bandwidth, its just that it should be super stable, sexy response times and stuff. Can you elaborate what does "PTCL GPON FTTH" means plz?

GPON FTTH is the same technology that Nayatel uses.

It's not the regular PTCL DSL that everyone hates because of its unreliability.

PTCL can't even come close. Their SmartTV is complete dog shit. Huge waste of money.

Nayatels TV offering is the best in the entire country. The great live TV and VOD collection is unmatched.

Heh. I use IPTV. You'll forget the local Desi providers.

One thing, though, is that only a handful of channels are 60fps - 99% are 25fps or 30fps.

i am happy with osn coverage 1080p 60 FPS crystal clear picture .and as it is coming from Dubai not from India or Pakistan .there is no lost ball or replay being lost .
plus watching it on my 65 inch tv is a huge deal for me .just saying .

I get 1080p. Just not 60fps all the time. And I do get OSN channels.

A few caveats:
1. The EPG isn't there for non-first world channels (and with my service provider, not available for the US channels as well). Other providers fare differently.
2. Sometimes, channels are replaced/switched around (they may say CNN, but something else can be broadcasting at times). Usually, they have another stream with the correct channel being beamed (but it's a pain). Sometimes, HD channels don't broadcast in HD, and sometimes, SD channels are broadcasting in HD.
3. There is a delay - anywhere between 30 seconds and 2 minutes - between the satellite transmission and when you receive it.

There are compromises. But unlike satellite, you're not restricted to a region (OSN can be received in Karachi, but not elsewhere in Pakistan). Also, I get all the Sky UK channels, the American and Canadian channels, and other channels I don't watch.

I contacted Ptcl for a new connection, after finalizing the package etc they said that they will send a team over there to check. Now they have reported back saying that it is not feasible to setup a connection at my given address and they can not share the reason why, kind of blew my mind.

Your street may not have any fiber underground
The FDH feeding your area is full and does not have capacity for a new line

These are pretty much the only 2 reasons they wouldn't give you a connection.

No chance of any other ISPs in Bahria Enclave because Bahria is very strict when it comes to allowing new ISPs to dig up their streets and lay cables. The only option that remains is either Jazz, Telenor or Zong 4G.

Hmm, I also told them that a house like 50m away just got ptcl connection 1 week ago. The problem with 3G 4G is that the signals are very weak, I can barely use Jazz on 3G max and that too at less than half signals, lets see, I have asked ptcl to reinvestigate the matter.

PS the house is opposite to our house, like in front, hence not in the same line, if that matters.

It shouldn't matter since it requires a little bit of work only to get the line across.

Check your PM in a few minutes.

Our experience: 1218 accepted the application, then I got a message that fiber (in Bahria Town, where it's full of fiber and only fiber) isn't feasible at my place, and right after, I found out the exchange had initiated my order and completed it.

Try contacting the exchange itself. It might work.

Can you tell me how to contact exchange? I remember they said that Bahria Enclave has F11 exchange.
