3rd one would be better...I have read that the ivy bridge heats up pretty fast...so I don't recommend it and the Xeon is for servers..

Third one yes. It's sandy Bridge, and the thread owner didn't list any Ivy Bridge Processors. I don't think so core i3 Ivybridge is available.

On the other hand, they don't actually heat up pretty fast. They are just not stable with higher voltages/clocks, then they will have a faster heat up rate. And those were in the i5/i7 Processors. So if he's buying an i3 IvyBridge, I think they have redesigned the fault for slightly higher temps.

Anyway, I have used an IvyBridge 3770k processor at stock. With a decent after market cooler. Its idle is around 20C, but on games i think goes upto 55C, but then again, nothing to worry about i guess.

i3 540 is too old, Xeon is for servers and bloody expensive and i3 2100 is awesome :D Go for it

Core i3 2100 Sandy Bridge .. Will be owsome pick.. 2100 isn't that much available in market.. Its replaced by 2120
