[h=2]Includes DLC, new Arcade mode and more[/h]

Capcom will release Street Fighter 5: Arcade Edition, an updated version of the fighting game that includes new modes and the first two seasons of downloadable characters, on Jan. 16, 2018, the company announced today.
Street Fighter 5: Arcade Edition will add Arcade Mode, Extra Battle Mode and new V-Trigger moves to the fighting game. Capcom also promises a vast gallery of illustrations and “a completely redesigned” user interface for the game.
Here’s how Capcom describes the two new modes coming to Street Fighter 5:
In the upcoming Arcade Mode, players can reminisce in the Street Fighter series history as they celebrate the last 30 years of the multi-million selling franchise. Choose from six different paths and compete in matches against CPU opponents to reveal unique endings based on player performance. In Extra Battle Mode, a new series of time exclusive challenges will be available for players to use their Fight Money for the chance to receive an exclusive premium outfit each month. Complete all four challenges each month and receive a special premium costume exclusive to this mode. With extra challenges being added and more unannounced content on the way, Street Fighter V will continue to deliver new and refreshed content on a regular basis throughout 2018 and beyond.
As seen in screenshots of Arcade Mode in the gallery below, players will be able to fight through a series of matches and bonus stages based on past Street Fighter games (the original Street Fighter, Street Fighter 2, Street Fighter Alpha and more).
Street Fighter 5: Arcade Edition will be priced at $39.99 on PlayStation 4 and Windows PC. Existing owners of Street Fighter 5 will get Arcade Edition’s new modes and UI improvements — but not its DLC characters, which are sold separately and can be earned with in-game Fight Money — for free via an in-game update.

[h=1]Street Fighter 5: Arcade Edition trailer teases some sweet new moves[/h]

[h=2]New V-Triggers, mix ups and more[/h]

When Street Fighter 5: Arcade Edition hits PlayStation 4 and Windows PC next year, the update will include new moves — specifically new V-Trigger attacks — for every character. But that’s not all that’s coming in Capcom’s update for Street Fighter 5, as illustrated by a new teaser trailer for Arcade Edition.
In addition to new V-Triggers, new combo extenders, mix ups and abilities will be added for characters like Ken, Guile, Birdie, Menat, R. Mika, Ibuki and others.
In addition to new moves, Street Fighter 5: Arcade Edition will include UI improvements and new modes. The re-release will be priced at $39.99, but existing Street Fighter 5owners will get that new content for free via an in-game update.
Street Fighter 5: Arcade Edition hits PS4 and PC on Jan. 18, 2018.
Capcom also revealed some new costumes coming to Street Fighter 5, including “nostalgia” costumes for Chun-li, Balrog, Birdie (who gets his six-pack abs back) and Karen, as well as a batch of festive holiday costumes for Alex, Menat, Karin and Cammy. You can see those, plus two additional combat costumes for Chun-li, in the gallery below.

Street Fighter 5’s third season of characters revealed at Capcom Cup 2017

All six characters will be part of the Arcade Edition

During the finals of this year’s Capcom Cup fighting tournament at PlayStation Experience, Street Fighter executive producer Yoshinori Ono revealed all of the upcoming season three characters for Street Fighter 5.
Fans expected at least one announcement during the live event: the debut of fan favorite Sakura, as she’s been teased for quite some time. They got exactly what they expected, with Sakura’s introduction to Street Fighter 5 immediately following the closing ceremony of the Capcom Cup.
In her trailer below, not only do we get to see Sakura’s most recent incarnation (which sees her transitioning from schoolgirl attire to something a bit more business casual), but we also get to see both of her V-Trigger moves. In the upcoming Street Fighter 5: Arcade Edition, every character will get a second V-Trigger move, which is a special skill unique to each character. We also caught a first glimpse of the new stage appearing along with Sakura, Kasugano Residence, which appears to be Sakura’s backyard.

As customary with each new character reveal, Sakura’s trailer teased the release of the other characters included in season three, which will be hitting Arcade Edition when it launches on Jan. 16. What fans didn’t expect was yet another trailer, this time for the cinematic opening for the Arcade Edition, which revealed all of season three’s characters.

Fans watching live at the Capcom Cup finals cheered in excitement at the sudden reveal of multiple favorites returning to the Street Fighter 5 cast, including Blanka, Sagat and Cody. The trailer also revealed two brand new characters: G, who looks like an Abraham Lincoln-esque brawler whose body is partially covered in gold, and Falke, who appears to be associated with series newcomer Ed.
While we know that Street Fighter 5: Arcade Edition is set to launch on PlayStation 4 and PC on Jan. 16, along with Sakura, the release schedule for the rest of the new characters has not be confirmed yet.

Street Fighter 5 finally feels like a complete packageTwo years after its release, Arcade Edition fleshes out the gameStreet Fighter has to serve many different roles to many different types of fans. The series longevity and memorable characters appeal to casual fans, giving them an arcade mode and story to tear through, while its methodical pace and high skill ceiling give competitive players a lot to chew through. But when Street Fighter 5 came out back in 2016, fans across that spectrum were somewhat disappointed. The game’s lack of story mode or arcade mode made many people wonder exactly what they were spending $60 for, and its original roster wasn’t favored by pro players. While a lot of additions have been made in the last two years — including 12 DLC characters and a three- hour story mode — Street Fighter: Arcade Edition finally puts the current game in a final package that should satisfy pretty much everyone. New skills for every character, a robust arcade mode and a cleanly defined visual style make this feel like the Street Fighter game we were expecting two years ago.street fighter five arcade mode menu Street Fighter 5’s new arcade mode. Each previous game inspires its own string of fights. CapcomStreet Fighter: Arcade Edition’s titular arcade mode feels like far more than just a welcome mat for casual players. It features simplified versions of the storyline for each previous Street Fighter entry, going all the way back to 1987’s Street Fighter. It uses the characters that would have been available in that title (or in some cases, appropriate stand-ins), with obvious spots to slot in fights from the third wave of DLC characters (like Sagat as the penultimate boss of Street Fighter 2). These fights made me wistful, especially when I was taking on M. Bison on a crisp, HD version of his Street Fighter 2 stage. They even include the ridiculous bonus stages, like barrel smashing. The V-trigger system was Street Fighter 5’s most celebrated innovation, and Arcade Edition offers additional triggers for each fighter, which are selected before the match. These attacks power up characters in unexpected, nostalgic ways. Ryu’s second V-trigger is a counter that will crumple opponents when it connects, in the same way his focus attack would in Street Fighter 4. Ken gets access to a flaming, spinning kick that pulls opponents in, and Chun-Li’s new trigger — an energy blast that can be linked into combos — seems far more useful than her other V-trigger.A couple characters get fantastic new normal moves too. As a Ryu player who has not enjoyed him as much in Street Fighter 5, his new Donkey Kick feels like a solid addition, with both reach and power. The game’s new UI update is also pretty fantastic. I always appreciated the character art in this game, but it felt like the UI and game cohesiveness was lacking, especially when compared to the beautiful, thick ink brush strokes seen all over Street Fighter 4. In its new form, Street Fighter 5 sports glittery gold title cards, as well as wipes at the start of the match — little touches that are meant to invoke going live for a high-stakes bout.gold ui elements of street fighter 5 arcade edition on match screenArcade Edition’s UI updates on full display. CapcomThe game also feels snappier. The PlayStation 4 version of the original Street Fighter 5 suffered from nasty load times for matches (and playing would sometimes kick my PS4’s fan to buzzsaw volume levels). Matches in Arcade Edition were noticeably faster to load into; I was honestly surprised when the first one popped up so quickly.Street Fighter 5’s third season of DLC characters is just warming up with Sakura’s release. The series staple, who is now a little older than her previous high school iterations, plays with some of the same shoto moves as she’s always had, with some versatile additions. Her V-skill, Haru Kaze, is a speedy jump that can quickly put you in an opponent’s face, offering lots of combo opportunities. I love that Sakura blends the old and new, and hope she’s exemplary of how the rest of the season’s characters — a mix of favorites like Blanka, Sagat and Cody, and fresh faces like the mysterious G and Falke — flesh out the roster, taking what makes Street Fighter great and evolving it.Capcom has always promised Street Fighter 5 will be a singular title, eschewing the many-versions-under-one-number system it had employed for previous franchises entries. While some players may be salty that Arcade Edition offers the game’s 12 DLC characters for free to new players (characters could be purchased as part of a season pass, or by earning in-game Fight Money from completing challenges and matches), they’ll still benefit from the arcade mode, UI adjustments and character balance changes, which are being patched in for all Street Fighter 5 owners. But Arcade Edition is the perfect invitation for new players or those who passed on the game the first time around. Now, more than ever, is the best time to jump in.

[h=1]Here’s Blanka in Street Fighter 5[/h]

[h=2]The Amazon warrior will be available on Feb. 20[/h]

Blanka is coming to Street Fighter 5: Arcade Edition next week, Capcom confirmed today. The character, who first appeared in Street Fighter 2: The World Warrior, will be the second fighter added to the game as part of Street Fighter 5’s Season 3 DLC.
Street Fighter 5’s Season 3 Character Pass costs $29.99, and Blanka will be available individually for $5.99 or 100,000 Fight Money.
In a new gameplay trailer, Capcom shows off Blanka’s new moves. Here are the official descriptions of his V-Skill, V-Triggers and Critical Art skills, via the Capcom Unity blog:
V-Skill: Coward Crouch
Blanka immediately ducks for cover for a short time before rising back up. His V-Skill can avoid many attacks, including fireballs. After performing Coward Crouch, Blanka can follow up with either Wild Lift (Punch Button) or Raid Jump (Kick Button). Wild Lift sees Blanka move forward while swinging his arms up to launch the opponent in the air and can be followed up by a normal, special move, or even a Critical Art. Using Raid Jump, Blanka swiftly jumps in the air where he can use any mid-air attack to advance.
V-Trigger I: Jungle Dynamo
Blanka’s V-Trigger I gives his special roll attacks more damage and can then be followed up by certain attacks, including his Critical Art. It also powers up his Electric Thunder and changes the animation so Blanka steps forward while unleashing the electric current. On hit, the opponent is launched slightly in the air and can be followed up with a rolling attack.
Finally, Jungle Dynamo unlocks Ground Shave Rolling (HP+HK), which can be used as a combo extender or a way to charge in. This move was a super move in previous games, but is now a special move in SFV: AE.
V-Trigger II: Lightning Beast
Lightning Beast unlocks a special move, Rolling Cannon (Direction + HP+HK), which can be performed after using Rolling Attack, Back Step Rolling, and Vertical Rolling. Rolling Cannon can be used in multiple ways, such as extending a combo for more damage or changing positions to surprise the opponent.
Critical Art: Dynamic Rolling
In this Critical Art, Blanka slams his opponent into the ground in a series of electrifying rolls that ends in a move reminiscent of Lightning Cannonball from Street Fighter IV.
Blanka will have a variety of looks in Street Fighter 5, with an ornate battle costume and a throwback classic costume. But it’s his story costume — Blanka dressed like a plush toy version of himself — that’s most interesting.

[h=1]Street Fighter 5’s next character, Falke, arrives April 24[/h]

[h=2]Falke comes armed with a Psycho Power-powered staff[/h]

Falke, the next downloadable character for Street Fighter 5: Arcade Edition, is coming to the game April 24, Capcom announced today. She’s the third add-on character coming as part of Street Fighter 5’s third season of downloadable content.
Street Fighter 5’s newest character fights with a staff imbued with Psycho Power, the same spiritual energy used by characters like M. Bison, Decapre and Ed. Falke will be available for $5.99 (or 100,000 Fight Money) individually and is part of the game’s $29.99 Season 3 Character Pass, which also includes Sakura, Blanka, Cody, G and Sagat.
Falke will fight in a fashion similar to Street Fighter 5’s Ed, in that her specials require dual button presses only. Falke’s moveset set was detailed on Capcom Unity today, and her attacks include the following special moves:
Standing (Psycho Kugel) – Falke releases the Psycho Power through her staff like a shotgun
Air (Psycho Feder) – Falke shoots a projectile at a diagonal angle downwards from the air
Crouching (Psycho Kanonen) – Falke lays on the ground and shoots a projectile at the opponent’s feet. She can avoid projectiles while using Psycho Kanonen.
Capcom also detailed Falke’s V-Skill, V-Trigger and Critical Arts:
V-Skill: Psycho Trombe
Falke extends one arm and spins her staff in front of her. Psycho Trombe on its own can be cancelled into by a variety of normal moves and can also be used to absorb projectiles.
V-Trigger I: Staerken
In this two-block V-Trigger, Falke powers up her ability to infuse and release Psycho Power from her staff and will allow her to use additional versions of her special moves without needing to charge up in advance.
Pressing HP+HK again during this V-Trigger will cause Falke to use Psycho Shrot, a powered up version of Psycho Kugel that emits three bullets and travels further. Pressing down and HP+HK will see Falke using Psycho Panzer, a powered up version of Psycho Kanonen that deals more damage. Finally, pressing HP+HK in the air will cause Falke to use Psycho Jaeger, a stronger Psycho Feder that can ricochet off the ground. Psycho Shrot and Kanonen can be cancelled into each other and can leave the opponent prone to a Critical Art.
V-Trigger II: Psycho Angriff
In this three-block V-Trigger, Falke increases her ability to utilize her staff in various ways. Upon activation, Falke will immediately twirl around hitting the opponent into the air, which she then follows up with a surge of Psycho Power.
Pressing HP+HK during this V-Trigger will result in Falke using Psycho Sturm, a sweeping hit with her staff that can be cancelled into to extend combos. Pressing down and HP+HK will see Falke using Psycho Klinge, where she jumps diagonally into the air before slamming her staff down on the opponent and can be followed up with normal moves. Falke’s V-Skill, Psycho Trombe, can also reflect projectiles during Psycho Angriff.
Critical Art: Psycho Fluegel
With a Psycho Power-charged staff, Falke launches opponents into the air. She then pole vaults up to meet her opponent, whacks them sideways with her staff, then slams them down with a final overhead swing.
To see Falke in action, check out her debut gameplay trailer above. Shots of her battle costume and story costume are in the gallery below.

[h=1]Final Fight’s Cody returns for Street Fighter 5 on June 26[/h]

[h=2]He still fights dirty, but now he’s the mayor[/h]

Cody is coming to Street Fighter 5: Arcade Edition on June 26, Capcom announced this weekend. The star of the original Final Fight is coming back to Street Fighter with a few changes in tow, including his new role as the mayor of Metro City.
In addition to a new political career, Cody will return to the Street Fighter series with a few new moves and a few classic ones. Special moves like Ruffian Kick and Zonk Knuckle will return, but Cody’s knife- and rock-based attacks are now tied to his V-Trigger moves. Street Fighter 5’s version of Cody will also see the return of his double kick from Final Fight (it’s now his V-Skill) and the Tornado Sweep projectile he used in NES game Mighty Final Fight.
Here’s a breakdown of Cody’s moves, via Capcom Unity:
V-Skill – Double Kick
A move from Final Fight, Cody quickly jumps straight up and performs two kicks in the air to both sides. Double Kick can be used as an effective anti-air and in certain situations, it can also end a combo.

V-Trigger I – Sidearm
In this two-block V-Trigger, Cody pulls out his signature knife. Sidearm increases the range on Cody’s normal punches, which also become safer on block while he’s holding the knife. He can also throw the knife by pressing HP+HK again straight at the opponent or at an upwards angle as an anti-air. After throwing the knife, Cody can then pull out his knife again by pressing HP+HK while V-Trigger I is active.

Cody also gains the Rapid Fire special move, which sees him slashing multiple times and is a great combo ender. Even if V-Trigger I’s duration ends, if Cody is still holding the knife, he’ll continue holding on to it until he either throws it or hits the opponent.
V-Trigger II – Dirty Coach
In this two-block V-Trigger, Cody is armed with his trusty pipe. With the pipe in hand, the range on Cody’s HPs are drastically increased. He also channels his inner baseball player and gains Gentle Swing by pressing HP+HK again or Gentle Upper Swing, the anti-air version.

If you’re wondering where Cody’s rocks went, they’re implemented into this V-Trigger! During V-Trigger II, Cody can use Bean Ball, which sees him tossing a rock in front of him. Though the rock has a hitbox if tossed on its own, Cody can follow up by hitting it with Gentle Swing with varying results. Depending on the timing, the rock will either hit the opponent from the air at a slight arc, smash straight into the opponent for multiple hits, or roll towards the opponent’s feet. Furthermore, if Cody follows up with Gentle Upper Swing, the rock will go flying off screen and eventually land a set distance depending on the punch button that was used.
Though Cody does lose access to Tornado Sweep with the pipe in hand, he does gain the ability to cancel some of his special moves into Gentle Swing. Much like the knife, Cody will hold on to the pipe after V-Trigger II ends until he hits the opponent with it – even on block.
Critical Art – Criminal Punisher
Cody harnesses his past behind bars and unleashes a devastating tornado reminiscent of Criminal Upper from previous games.

While Cody is sharply dressed as the mayor of Metro City in his default costume, Capcom is offering a few alternative outfits for the fighter: his prison uniform from Street Fighter Alpha 3, his classic Final Fight T-shirt and jeans, a Mike Haggar-inspired shirtless look, and a formal dinner jacket — his Battle Costume, which is presumably used for political fundraising purposes.
Cody will be available to purchase individually for $5.99 or 100,000 Fight Money. He’s also included in Street Fighter 5’s Season 3 character pass, which also includes Sakura, Blanka, Falke, G and Sagat.

[h=1]Street Fighter 5 gets Sagat and fighting president G this week[/h]
[h=2]Final season 3 characters available on Monday, Aug. 6[/h]

Two new world warriors are coming to Street Fighter 5: Arcade Edition this week: G, the mysterious “fighting president,” and longtime Ryu rival Sagat. Street Fighter producer Yoshinori Ono debuted the two characters at Evo 2018 today, announcing that they’ll both come to Street Fighter 5 on Monday, Aug. 6.
G, “the Man of Mystery” and self-proclaimed President of the World, draws energy from the Earth itself to fuel his powers. He fights with fiery, magma-based attacks as part of his mission to unite the people of Earth as one. You can watch G in action, using his Maximum President and Dangerous President V-Trigger moves, in the gameplay trailer below.

Joining G on Monday, Aug. 6 is Sagat, who first appeared as the final boss of the originalStreet Fighter. Sagat’s appearance in Street Fighter 5 will bring back his familiar Tiger Shot, Tiger Uppercut and Tiger Knee Crush moves. His V-Trigger moves include the Tiger Charge and Tiger Assault, emphasizing just how much Sagat identifies with tigers.
Sagat’s arrival in Street Fighter 5 comes with a new stage, King’s Court, which is based on the character’s stage from Street Fighter 2.
G and Sagat will be available to purchase individually for $5.99 or 100,000 Fight Money. Both are also included as part of Street Fighter 5’s season 3 character pass (which costs $29.99) and also includes previously released fighters Sakura, Blanka, Falke and Cody.

[h=1]Cammy gets pants in Street Fighter 5, thanks to Resident Evil[/h]
[h=2]New Resident Evil-themed costumes put proper pants on the veteran Street Fighter[/h]

Judging by Capcom’s costumes for Street Fighter’s Cammy over the years, one might conclude that the British special forces operative has an aversion to wearing pants, if she’s not outright allergic to them. It’s become something of a running gag over Cammy’s 25-year international streefighting career.
A new costume coming next week will finally give the Street Fighter 5 version of Cammy more coverage. That costume is based on the outfit that Jill Valentine wears in the originalResident Evil and joins two other Resident Evil-inspired costumes — a Wesker outfit for Urien and an Ada Wong outfit for Kolin — as downloadable content for Street Fighter 5. Those costumes will cost $3.99 each.
Somewhat amusingly, Cammy’s Resident Evil costume has a variation based on Jill Valentine’s appearance from Resident Evil 3 in which she battled zombies ... in a miniskirt and knee-high boots.
Here’s a look at the new Resident Evil-inspired costumes for Street Fighter 5, which will hit alongside a quartet of Christmas-themed costumes for Cody, Blanka, Sakura and Falke.

Some Street Fighter aficionados might point out that Cammy has worn pants before, and they’re right. In Street Fighter 4, Cammy had a few alternate outfits that gave her pants-adjacent legwear, like tights and a latex bodysuit (and an exoskeleton, as part of her bee costume). Capcom also recently gave Cammy a Street Fighter 5 outfit inspired by the PlayStation 2 horror game Haunting Ground; however, the costume does not include pants. Cammy wears chaps, which are definitely not pants, but a thing that goes over pants. Jill Valentine’s pants are real pants — with pockets even!
So, as you can plainly see now, this is a big moment for Cammy.

[h=1]Street Fighter 5’s newest character is an evil Ryu[/h]

[h=2]Kage kicks off Street Fighter 5: Arcade Edition’s new season[/h]

Street Fighter 5: Arcade Edition’s fourth season kicks off today with a new character, Kage. Capcom revealed the new fighter, described as “the physical embodiment of the evil spirit, ‘Satsui no Hado,’” after today’s Capcom Cup finals.
Kage is not the Evil Ryu, despite the fact that he’s an evil Ryu doppelgänger, but something else. Here’s how Capcom describes the new character:
Kage, meaning “shadow,” is the physical embodiment of the evil spirit, “Satsui no Hado,” that could hypothetically overtake Ryu and turn him into the character Evil Ryu. Street Fighter V fans will recall Ryu overcame the “Satsui no Hado” in the General Story against Necalli, and regained control of his former self. “Satsui no Hado” is now back, and instead of overtaking Ryu’s body has now found a way to manifest into its own physical form.
And here’s a bit more on the Satsui no Hado, in case you’re unaware of the story of Street Fighter 5, from the Capcom Unity blog:
The Satsui no Hado is a dark force tied to the more sinister aspects of the human soul, including the hunger to survive, destroy, and conquer. Those who learn to control it become nearly unstoppable, but at the cost of their humanity. Akuma is one of these beings. In the past, Ryu was constantly struggling with keeping the Satsui no Hado at bay. If he was hypothetically unable to control it, Evil Ryu would manifest and bring a dark obsession to the otherwise peaceful Ryu. However, after the events of Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition, Ryu was able to overcome the Satsui no Hado’s temptation to ensure Evil Ryu would never see the light.
However, the Satsui no Hado living within Ryu became sentient and would rise as the entity known as Kage, meaning “shadow” in Japanese. Kage lives to prove Ryu is nothing without him and seeks to challenge Akuma and Sagat, two of Ryu’s most notorious rivals. Will Ryu succumb to Kage’s schemes?
Kage is available for purchase on PlayStation 4 and Steam starting today for $5.99 or 100,000 Fight Money, Street Fighter 5’s in-game currency.
Capcom also released a gameplay video today that dives into Kage’s moveset.

Kage shares some techniques (or variations on) Ryu, Akuma and Evil Ryu’s moves. He can perform a hadoken, but only the airborne version of the move will manifest in the form of a fireball. However, he can also perform a Shakunetsu Hadoken, which is akin to Akuma’s red fireball. Kage also has the shoryuken uppercut and a spinning kick, known as the kurekijin, which only rotates a single time. Kage also has Evil Ryu’s ax kick, the ryusokyaku.
Kage’s V-triggers include the Taigyaku Mudo, which lets him teleport and powers up his V-skill, and Rikudo Osatsu, a move that launches him into the sky and then crashing into the ground. The new fighter’s Critical Arts include a powerful version of his shoryuken and the Shun Goku Satsu, a Kage-specific version of Akuma’s Raging Demon attack.
For a closer look at Kage, check out the gallery below.

[h=1]Street Fighter 5 skips season pass for 2019[/h]

[h=2]What does it mean for the future of Street Fighter?[/h]

Capcom is mixing up how it rolls out new fighters for Street Fighter 5 in 2019. No longer will the publisher sell a season pass that includes a half-dozen fighters at a discount, a decision that is leading to confusion and concern over Capcom’s plans for the future.
Earlier this week, Capcom announced and released Kage, a new evil version of Ryu that heralded the fourth season of content for Street Fighter 5: Arcade Edition. Kage is available for purchase individually for $5.99 or 100,000 Fight Money, Street Fighter 5’s in-game currency.
Unlike previous seasons of Street Fighter 5, Capcom didn’t go on to announce or hint at what else would be included in the fourth season of the fighting game’s content plan. On itsCapcom Unity blog, the company called Kage “only the beginning” of the next season and teased that it’s “doing things differently this year.”
On Wednesday, Capcom revealed that it had “no plans to offer a Season Pass for the 2019 DLC characters.”

Capcom’s silence on what’s next for Street Fighter 5 has players speculating that either this season will bring fewer than six new characters to the game; that it signals a move to a free-to-play model; or that the developer is winding down development and moving on to a sequel.
In previous years, Capcom either announced the full, six-character season from the get-go orhinted at what was to come with silhouettes of new challengers. This year, players are left in the dark.
Street Fighter 5 producer Yoshinori Ono told Japanese gaming outlet Famitsu in a 2016 interview that Capcom had plans to support the game as far out as 2020, but without solid information, fans now don’t know what to expect.

You reap what you sow. This is what happens when you take away choice from consumers. Even with 88% split going to developers, they can't recoup costs. Meanwhile, Helldivers 2 is a massive hit for Sony thanks in big part to Steam.
