Strange PTCL Broadband Issue

So i've been facing this issue on PTCL Broadband for quite some time now. I've reported this to PTCL customer service numerous times (ugggh!) but to no avail.

What happens is that when I open my BB Router's configuration page (192.168.1.1) on the browser, some other customer's configuration page opens (yes really!)
I know this page is not mine cuz i know what model my dsl modem is. (ZTE ZXDSL 831CII, non-wifi)

So everytime I need to check internet connectivity(which sucks), some random customer's config page opens (!!!). I am even able to ping the PCs connected to THAT modem. If I physically disconnect the telephone line, this no longer happens and i see MY modem's page :/
I tried isolating the dsl modem by disconnecting my netgear wifi router but same issue persists.

Has anyone else faced this issue? Why the hell am I able to access other people's networks ?! :/

Are you only using the internet connection or you have it shared with someone else via another router ? for example your neighbor has a PTCL connection and you took a cable from his router and plugged it in the router at your end and then using it from there ?

even if you disconnect your telephone wire, you'll still be able to open you router's configuration page(192.168.1.1)
and i still don't understand what your problem is :/
no one else's router page can be opened, cause only you're router is connected with your PC :/ Only explanation can be that you're routers settings are not done properly (That's what i think though i don't fully understand your problem).

i am the only user. This issue happens even if the dsl modem is connected to telephone line and one PC only.

Yes, i know i'll still be able to access my modem page when phone line is disconnected. This is normal. But if i connect the telephone line, some other user's page is displayed (everytime its different). The whole page layout/design/settings are different so its quite obvious its not my modem's page.

Check you config i think your are using bridge connection by which your connecting to the local modem present in your area.

The easiest solution that I will recommend is to reset your router to default factory settings and get it configured again by calling PTCL Customer Support !
THAT i've done... the PTCL guy showed up 3 days ago and said he's gonna change the router and the phone number on next visit.... havent heard from them since. I'm guessing it'll be on Monday now.

Are you using a wifi connection or a wired 1?

Just disconnect from wifi its better that u disable wifi.
Then connect the router through lan wire.
Prb solved.
PTCL guys are mostly noobs then don know sh*t.

I've mentioned before that this occurs even if I isolate the dsl router i.e. Turning off wifi router and connecting one pc only to it.
So if someone's wifi SSID was changed to "PTCL-SUCKS", then it's probably me who did it :p

Try this:

First make sure you are not running any VPN tunnels or other stuff like that (spotflux etc).

Make sure your TCP/IPv4 settings are on auto detect (IP and DNS)

Connect using lan

Try accessing your modem (while telephone wire is connected)

IF you can access your modem then its good... else read on... :)

Disconnect telephone wire and access your modem again....

This time around change your Modem IP address (should be under Advance settings > Lan - differs from Modem to Modem)

It should say 192.168.1.1 - change it to 192.168.10.1

Save - Restart modem

Try accessing modem again but this time with the 192.168.10.1 IP - if your unable to enter - Hard Reset the modem. You should have the old IP back.

if your able to enter (using the 192.168.10.1) then connect your telephone wire and try accessing again with the new IP.

See if this has helped... let us know :)

Ah man thanks for this. Going on another subnet seems to have completely fixed my problem :)
As for PTCL "Customer Support", they still suck :p

No worries - yeah PTCL CS sucks big time. Even their One Stop Shop is full of idiots.

I wonder though if you can still access other ppl with 192.168.1.1 :)

Score 1 for game pass. I wouldn't pay full price for this at retail either.

Just downloaded my first legit digital PC game on GoG at a discount of $8: Two Point Hospital. The same team behind Theme Hospital Two Point Studios now part of Sega. And I am having more fun than most recent AAA games except of course BG3.

Still, I don't like either Sony or Microsoft as they are focusing more on corporate greed than delighting customers. PC gaming is best of gaming and worth every penny.

PC Gamer score of 58/100 for Hellblade 2??? Is it really worse than Gollum that was 64/100? Microsoft games can't even come close to high scores of Sony exclusives apparently.

About the Microsoft (and Sony) debate, I feel both have become too greedy and losing their minds over corporate greed. Personally, I will never buy any console next gen and switch to PC gaming where democracy reins.

did you try setting up Google Payments? For UBL you may have to get it enabled for internet transactions, Naya should work without it!
