[Important] Sticky Threads getting locked!

It's OP is useless as the thread is used merely for discussion no one sees the OP. We could make these threads useful if we could pin the OP somehow so that it's at the top of each page like they have it at Pakwheels.

But what benefit that will serve? we need to consider the rest of the sections as well.

This has been discussed with iNF3RN0 in the past, briefly. And we settled against this idea, because of HUGE (and heavy weight) OT threads of games, which could/would make the life miserable for users, if we DO implement it. Not only that, sometimes an OT is not required to be pinned, or simply should not be pinned because of unnecessary information ... or whatever.

I started to dislike the idea because of having no control over pinning the posts. If we choose to implement this system, we can't "choose" which posts we want to pin, and if we want to pin it at all.

However, we haven't discussed if its possible to implement it in specific sections, instead of implementing it all over the forum. Perhaps iNF3RN0 could tell us more.

Well maybe not for the entire OP but just new updates with someone dedicated enough to put up the latest happenings but it might be too much of a hassle. I like the latest events posted with the name of the thread more

I see. That changes things. Didn't know you couldn't control whether the OP is being pinned or not. I figured if it was possible to have the choice of pinning a post in a particular thread, that'd help the sports threads because that way you could update the EPL threads with weekly games and the transfer threads with daily updates and they'd be on top each day. Would make things easier for the sports sections, but that's just a tiny fraction of the total forum, plus it's primarily a gaming forum so gotta keep the gaming sections in mind.

So what I understand is that it's not possible to choose whether or not to pin an OP. Either it's all OP's in all threads pinned, or it's none pinned. Correct?

These are the possibilities and the limitations:

- You can't select just any post within the thread, only the first post (the OP) can be pinned (first post will be displayed on all the thread pages)
- It can be done on per section / forums basis.
- It can be done on a individual basis by the admins only I guess but I haven't tried it out so I am not sure whether it's possible or not (I have to check)

Well if it could be done section basis, I think all the threads in the Sports section can and will benefit from it. Whatcha think [MENTION=6068]Ottoman[/MENTION]. IMO having this around will change the threads massively. Someone responsible who can update each days fixtures along with the times would be great. There're a handful of people willing to take threads, about time they get some work to do to maintain these 'hot' threads too

+1 for abby's idea.... and yeah it will only benefit the sports section IMO....
