Signature Size

Unlike so many other forums, PG has a very restricted signature size. I mean, you can't have more than one image, you can't have more than two lines, and then there are word restrictions as well (500 characters)! This is kind of annoying, especially when some people find it easier to express their signature with more content in it.

I've seen signatures with the traditional 'signature image' in them and then they go on and have spoilers filled with interesting quotes or whatever they want to write! Plus, they provide links to other sites. All that, you can not do on PG.

For example, I want to post my PSN gamer card, XBL gamer card, Uncharted 2 card, and KZ2 card. I simply cannot do that on this forum.

My Advice: Please increase the size of the signatures we have here! Allow us to post at least five images (excluding emoticons), let us have around ten lines, and increase the character limit to 1500 characters (excluding URL text).

We don't want this to turn into a fruity forum where everyone has a dozen pictures under their posts, it looks cluttered, makes the page hard to navigate and is generally very very VERY annoying.

You may tone down my suggestion but, please, do not turn it down! Increase the size of the signatures but, at least, to a lesser extent than what I mentioned! Add a rule that if many images are to be added in a signature then they should be tagged in spoilers. This reason is one reason why PG hasn't managed to be my 'high-priority-forum.' <_<

The biggest and most famous gaming forum on the planet, Neogaf, doesn't allow signatures at all and even has very strict size limitations on avatar images. If we want to be high priority and follow the best one's example then signatures should be disabled all together.

Putting a lot of images under there makes it a big cluttery mess, not a high profile forum.

Do something about it! You shouldn't make Neogaf your inspiration just because it has the most members from all other gaming sites! I mean, the character limitations applies to URL text as well! WTF!? It's not our fault the damn URLs are so big!

greater size signature will eat alot of bandwidth.thats y it was removed, for bandwidth efficiency

Btw do you guys even remember how bad the situation had become when finally this restriction on signature size was imposed? I personally removed some signatures which were 1680 x 1050 size images. Those huge signatures made it impossible for members with low bandwidth to use PG.

Signatures purpose is to add a bit of personalization

ppl dont want to go thru 10 lines of signature explaining the life history of the poster

also think how long it will take to load each and every page

What you've asked for is wayyyyy too much.

However I think increasing the limit to allow 2-3 lines + an image can be done.

Less is more. Current limit is perfect. I'm not in favor of removing them altogether but more things need to be removed if that level of professionalism (read: minimalism) is the main goal.

I stopped using sigs, because I kinda like it TEH GAF Style (sm1)

TBH I wouldn't mind banning sigs altogether either, a simple looking forum is the most efficient type of forum.

Although anyone who does want to disable signatures can also do that in the setting right now

Mood, Location, Posts, Consoles, PC specs, achievements.... they all need to go. A quick glance at the user profile should be enough. We don't need it with every post all the time.

And +1 for sig removal IF everything else above goes with it

Actually PC specs can't be checked in the profile so it can stay. Or we can have a system (if possible) where its only visible under the hardware section, like the trader score appears in Marketplace Only.
