NEW FRAUD in Mumbai ...

Given below is happend to someone
&
He has narrted this in his own words :-
"I received a call from someone claiming that he was from my mobile Service provider
and
He asked me to shutdown my phone for 2 hours for 3G update to take place.
As I was rushing for a meeting,
I did not question,
but just shut down my cell phone.

After 45 minutes?
I felt very suspicious, Since the caller did not even introduce his name.
I quickly turned on my cell phone and saw several missed calls from my family members.

And, the others were from the number that had called me earlier.

I called my parents
and
I was shocked that they sounded very worried asking me whether...
I am safe.

My parents told me that they had received a call from someone claiming that they had me with them ,
and asking for money to let me free.
The call was so real and my parents even heard 'My Voice'
Crying out loud asking for help.

My father was at the bank waiting for next call to proceed for money transfer.

I told my parents that,
I am safe and asked them to lodge a police report.

Right after that I received another call from the guy asking me to shutdown my cell phone for another 1 hour which I refused to do and hung up.

They kept calling my cell phone until the battery had run down.
I, myself lodged a police report and I was informed by the officer that there were many such scams reported.

MOST of the cases reported that the victim had already transferred the money...!
And,
It is impossible to get back the money.

Be careful as this kind of scam might happen to any of us...!!!

Those guys are so professional and very convincing during calls.

If you are asked to
shut down your cell phone for updates by the service provider,
ASK AROUND...!
Your family or friends might receive the same call.

+371 is code for Lativa...

it is very possible to get missed calls if your phone is switched off, call your service provider they can open that service for you (at least mobilink can)

another scam going around is that someone from some food company like rawaj foods or hani foods calls u tells u that he is the manager and u have won a 1300cc or 1100cc car or whatsoever from a luck draw via a coupon u filled years ago and they show u their websites and tell that their MD will call u for the username and password

you see their website and start to belive them , they even give the address of the company at karachi the address is invalid (google it).
They ask u to come to karachi for delivery.
NOw here is where the fun start , they ask u to pay the delivery abt 5-7k and then hang up .
after some time they again ask for a hancdsome amount approx 70-80k and they say that it is for the registration of car and etc etc. once u pay tht u r done.
so beware guys
ps, these guys change their name like from ghani foods to rawaj foods and etc etc but their address is always matching

Intentions are very clear here, try not to encourage such behaviour by praising scammers who play with emotions of others and most probably their life savings.

I did receive a call from +371 or something like that. Was showing a missed call, so i dialed back only to realize after a second that i read about this number on my whatsapp sharing group. I think the bell did not go through neither my call as i quickly ended the call. It's been a month since then and all my info is safe and sound.

As for the 90 and 09 , nothing happens. However , a few months ago my cousin played a trick on me and i still cannot sort it out so maybe someone from you might know. My cousin took my phone and told me that he will hack my number, my phone is nexus 5 which is an android phone. He took my phone and after few seconds gave it back to me claiming that the bug have been installed. I checked my phone and nothing extra ordinary was there, neither my recent apps had anything or anything new was installed. So he called my other cousin from his phone and on my other cousin's phone it showed my number and name. Very surprising to me and later on he took my phone again to remove it but he never told me what he did. Till date i really don't know what it was , some code he applied but i searched the internet too and found nothing like this. Does anyone else knows?
