Assalamoalikum,

Can anyone tell me about his/her personal experience of LINKdotNET DSL, I mean the quality of service and customer support. Actually I was using MaxCom from about 4 years when 128kbps was available in the cost of 1800/- Rs and in 4 years it went to 2Mbps in same price but then I started facing line quality issues in my exchange of Gulistan-e-Johar # 7. MaxCom provided good support about it and resolved many issues but in the end they also got fed up and told me that there is nothing we can do about the line quality issues in your exchange, so I also got angry and switched my service from Max to PTCL (The worst decision I must say). Now the strange issue I am facing is that in morning time from about 10 am to 4 pm my DSL keep getting disconnected (modem unsync) then after 4 pm it gets stable and run normally. I have done countless complaints to PTCL about this issue and the only thing they say in return is that we'll look into it (Uber retards). Now what I am planning is that I change my phone line completely, I mean the current series is 461 and I am thinking to take a new line of 402 series, I asked few guys about it and they said that network of 402 is running fine with good line quality after that I will return to MaxCom but before doing that I want to ask how is the service quality of LINKdotNET since PTCL purchased MaxCom therefore soon Max will also go to hell, so if LINKdotNET is good I might take their service.

Please note that I am not willing to take wireless broadband services due to some reasons, so please don't suggest them.

Please share your experience if you're using LINK DSL.
Thanks.

Dont go LinkDSL, they have freakiest customer support ever.
I was facing some line issues, their technician came my home and said bribe your Lineman to get your line fixed. I was like WTF. My elder cousin was there and he went mad on him. :p
I bribed my lineman but again dissconnection issues.

I have launched a hell of complaints but nothing happened, now i havent paid their dues for two months :D
Every they call for dues, I ask them to fix my connection otherwise i'll not pay.

Bottom line, i'll not suggest you LinkDSL, get a new line and PTCL FTW. :D

LDN support sucks. DSL in general sucks. If there is a problem with your telephone exchange then regardless of how many times you bribe the lineman or get new telephone lines the problem will remain.

Get worldcall if you can in your area. Its a pain to get connected (they are slow to give you the connection) and its more expensive than DSL but they have their own cable infrastructure and you will get the advertised speed.

I have a theory regarding DSL. I think no one is really getting the speeds these DSL ISPs advertise. Since no one has ever had a proper connection they have no idea what their missing and so they stupidly give positive feedback about their ISP.

You mean we won't get 128 kb/s on 1 MBPS connection, 256 kb/s on 2 MBPS connection and 512 kb/s on 4 MBPS connection :(

No, I always get around 120 kb/s so I think I and most of the PG'ers have knowledge about what their ISP is supplying them. I am very happy with PTCL, and I have seen many of my friends get pure speed on their LDNs and PTCLs too. The only problem is of disconnection, but that occurs when the router gets too hot.

Well your last sentence tells me a lot about the level of knowledge you have. Disconnection because of the router getting hot :D Disconnection occurs because of poor line quality. Line quality can fluctuate throught the day and when it goes below a certain threshold you get DCed.

If you further query these DSL consumers and ask them about the speeds they are getting you'll get a better picture. Some say that PTCL is best for downloading and LDN for browsing. Why would they say that when both companies are supposedly selling the same speed connections? Its because these connections take a long time to ramp up in speed.

When your browsing the majority of files you download are very small so browsing is slow. You never get 120KB/s when browsing because the connections are oversold. Comparatively when I am browsing with my WC 256kbps connection I always get 20-30KB/s. Browsing on a 1mbps DSL connection is not much faster because of the congestion.

When your downloading large files there is enough time for the connection to go from 0-120KB/s.

I am pretty damn sure that DSL can get DC'ed when the router gets too hot. My net kept on DC'ing today from 12 to 5 PM. I put the router in my room and placed a small pedestal fan over it and its been running fine since.
You are right about the second thing, that the net also gets DC'ed when telephone wires are faulty and unpure. It also gets DC'ed when voltage fluctuates. Sometimes, it gets DC'ed when somebody picks up the phone to call someone. Arsal and I are having this problem.

Also, browsing depends more on the ping rather than the connection speed. Thats because pages need to load faster. If pings are high but speed is high too, then it can take a longer time than when pings are low and speeds are low. However, while downloading, pings do not matter much, mostly the speed does. Once a good connection to the host is established, no matter if the pings are high, downloading depends on the speeds.

Thank God I've found someone with some good knowledge of this DSL Stuff.

@devnull: Hey there! First of all, welcome to Pakgamers. Hope you like it here :)

Secondly, I've been having some problems with my PTCL DSL. Well, for a start, there is sometimes distortion in my phone line which easily explains why I get disconnected. But the thing is, I've got the DP thing changed from my lineman many times but after some time, the disconnection problem arises again. I think the line distortion is the only fault possible. Also, the wiring in my area isn't old. Which means that the wires shouldn't be having joints, cuts etc. So in your opinion, what can the problem be ? I have to do online gaming and it's a major pain in the ass when I get disconnected that the bad time.

^ Voltage used to be a problem, but not anymore. The problem entirely lies in the Noisy line. Whenever I get disconnected, I connect the phone wire to my telephone set and there's always noise. And then, when the distortion vanishes, I connect the wire back to the PS3.

^ Yaar I have contacted him several times. And he even fixes the problem but it's only temporal. After some days, the distortion in line arises again :(
