To all who are suggesting 'charge a fee for registration', are you mad?. This is an open forum just like LOADS other on the internet. A forum wont be a forum if its only for people who can pay.

Charging for 3 threads or more per month for Market Place is a good idea and maybe make it free for people who are here for 2 years or more, though this will require more moderating power.

There was one suggestion that I wanted to share with Shyber but didn't. Its some package for us ordinary users in which one extra should be 'MORE inbox space'. It can happen and is possible, that's all I know.

How would the underlined point help raise money?

Also selling expensive merchandise and such would raise problems of its own ( i suggested this some time back too ).

Moreover, i think adding a fees to the marketplace transactions would be problematic, i mean, if you are charging the person the money for selling his item, i think you would need to give some sort of guarantee on the transaction, which is mostly not possible.
It was actually not a way to raise money but according to what inferno said. The issue with Google banning PG. Google discourages Piracy and if PG wishes to survive, it should too.

The point on charging fee per transaction has already been successfully implemented in various sites including eBay. PG is just providing a platform for selling or buying good and products. Anyone who is in their right mind would be willing to pay small fees (referring to selling marketplace rights) to sell/buy on PG as it has a huge userbase.

Yes, but doesn't ebay give guarantees of the transactions happening?

^Not really. According to my information, it does provide a platform to the users. eBay also provides negative rating system. The only addition that eBay does offer is the ability to report unfair illegitimate dealings (Same could be done on PG). Other than that if the buyer/seller is still not willing to cooperate you can take him to court (Rarely happens, as court expenses i.e. hiring an attorney are high).

i pity everyone's emotional little minds who think selling it to someone who can actually run the site is not a rational option.

Please take this bs of 'bonding with your creation' nd 'part of your soul' to
the kiddies table. I expected the admin to take all suggestions open heartedly and not call people greedy bastards, even if he doesnt like the suggestion, he should reply more maturely. Even though I have esteem respect for his love and dedication towards PG.

Being optimistic is one thing but the right thing to do here is to be realistic and practical. What I suggested is a viable option, donations wont last forever cuz a time will come when all these people who are saying heres my 500 etc wont consider donating anymore, I saw that last time when PG was up for donation.

If the adsense matter can be sorted out then thats great but Im sure Inferno would have tried that already.

Charging for marketplace is sensible but then again the number of people going there would decrease like hell since anyone who wants to deal would have to pay and not everyone is always looking to buy or sell stuff, so they wouldnt want to pay for something they dont even use.

But if the owner just wants to shut the thing down then go ahead. We all had lives before we came to PG and we would live without it. It might be hard for some but again I call for practicality and realism from all of you.

If you want suggestions which are actually practical then what soulhunter suggested is a very practical idea and I for one can actually make that happen, that is if the admin wants to go ahead.
Yeah right, kiddies table. Selling of a website so that it can get shittier, see the case of Beliscity, ever thought why no one buys from them any more?

Who Suggested charging for registration? As far as I can see everyone has suggested charging in one way or another the marketplace.

Google banning PG from adsense has more to do with the crowd using PG than anything else.
90% users are from Pakistan and of a very young age group (according to alexa) and google knows that...
Google does not advertise much in Pakistan and to such a young crowd...
Even with piracy content Google continues to advertise on websites if the audience is what they want to target...and 13-24 year old Pakistanis is the last crowd they want to spend money on advertisement.....
For those reasons even if Google accepts this website for adsense there wont be enough revenue to run the website only on that....
There have to be other sources of Income if the website is to be sustained....
Market place is one option...Another option is "Premium member" or an optional paid subscription of the forum...For which paying members get access to dedicated section where only they can create threads and take part in discussions...and get some other perks...
People will pay for being a "Prevailed" member....But the problem will again be about controlling the paying crowd, they may want to be immune to bans and warnings...To some extent this can be given in their dedicated section...But rules may be the same for all in the "Open to all" sections of forum.

Another thing is that this is may be the only website i came across where there is no WEBMASTER...
Ok i know INFERNO is the webmaster...But he is also a member who takes part in threads and discussions....
A webmaster is generally that Unapproachable entity on a website who makes final decisions without giving explanations or discussions...and people can contact webmaster by email only.
INFERNO being so open to discussions and suggestions is a good thing but it has a down side too.....Anything the guy wants to do is discussed to such an extent that in my opinion either he gets confused or loses interest in making that suggested change..A webmaster does fist and discusses later, that only he wants...
So INFERNO ... be who you are...but also be WEBMASTER.

Different rules will divide PG which is not good. No immunes on bans and warnings should be given because free members will leave PG then.

I agree with @AbbY's points and @NighteySenpai's points. In addition to the sponsorship point, you could bring in a site like Homeshopping which could give some discounts to PG members only or could give a % of profit
To PG.

I meant to say that rules should be same may it be in the pay-only section or the free one.

Why you are butt hurt anyway? I don't asked for your suggestion nor I am a public servant who listen to everyones bullshit and I am certainly not inviting you or anyone here. Giving pathetic criticism is your hobby I guess? if so, then you have selected a wrong place to do it, people live or die it's none of my business but how to keep PG alive it is. At this very moment if you have nothing to suggest *other than selling* than please stay away, I am in no mood of listening to you or anyone else with a similar reply like yours.

And if you are under an impression that if PG loses thousands of members then I will be left heart broken? guess what? I don't care! and I will simply shut it down..it's not a matter of life or career for me. So just sit quiet and let us do what can be done.

I am closing this topic now, all infomation about the changes and donations will be posted in the announcement section.
