my motherboard stopped working 3 weeks ago out of the blue, I spent the entire day trying to diagnose it and I isolated the problem to either the motherboard or processor. I tried my best to fix but nothing worked so I took it to czone but they told me they don't repair stuff so I proceeded to lapcomp which was right next door. They told me it could be fixed easily and i gave them the board. The very next day i called them to get the full report but the person said that my motherboard could not be repaired and I would have to replace it. Now I don't know if he was lying because he didn't even tell my how it died or what was broken, It seemed to me that he was also unsure. Ever since that i've been lurking in different forums trying to find the solution but the closest thing i could find was a broken IC. Now i'm deciding to buy a new motherboard with a warranty this time but I'm extremely paranoid that it's going to happen again and all I need to know is how can I prevent this from happening again. The day my previous motherboard died there was a power outage and I was sleeping so I don't know what happened (if there was a spark or something). I used this motherboard for 5 months and there had been several power outages yet it worked fine after each and every one of them so I don't know what was different this time.

Specs:
motherboard: intel dh55hc
processor: i5 750
ram: kingston 4gb ddr3 value ram
graphic card: HD 7850 2gb

Karach!
You've got one of the worst psu's available in pakistan.

This thing is going to slow poison your whole system gradually.

i got an akasa esu 600w just to verify, not the one listed in "My PC Specs". I know akasa is not any better but I had it checked and it works fine on my old p4 system. Also I did some more research and it could be that my cmos battery was at fault. I read up on alot of cases that were similar to mine and they all claimed to have had faulty or dead cmos batteries. I am also using this cheap local surge protector and I plan to change to something better and trust worthy like the belkin's surge protector. Anything else i could do to get as much as protection as possible.

ALWAYS SPEND ON GOOD PSU ONCE FOR ALL
msg to everyone it is the main thing which power you whole pc if there is fluctuation or any other power issue good psu has surge protection and other protection too which saves the components which are much more expensive then psu
even something goes south all the burden psu will take it will go kaput saving your rest of stuff so better invest on better psu specially in Pakistan its very much important

I'm pretty sure my power supply has a built in surge protector but none the less i will be buying a new/better surge protector + a motherboard with a anti-surge feature. Will that be sufficient? Most of my specs are pretty out dated and i just want my system to run at least 2 years if possible, by that time i will have accumulated enough funds to make a new pc all together with the latest parts.

You weren't using a stabilizer? Mine is 25 years old and it has saved me from Power surge issues for the entire last decade.

MSI isn't any better. In my opinion it's one of the worst brands available locally and should be avoided. The after sales support and warranty service is atrocious to say the least and the distributors (Astrontech I don't know which name they go by now) are nothing but crooks and arseholes.

@DivineTerra dont just rely on built-in voltage and current protection of a PSU. Even if you buy a 30,000 Rs PSU it wont offer much protection on a pakistani electric grid. Buy a UPS or a good stabilizer to use with your PC.

Alan wake 2 is yet to recover it's development costs. Due to no physical release and no steam launch.
You reap what you sow. This is what happens when you take away choice from consumers. Even with 88% split going to developers, they can't recoup costs. Meanwhile, Helldivers 2 is a massive hit for Sony thanks in big part to Steam.
