Here's the deal. Let's stop criticising each others' taste in movies, because that will just wreck havoc on PG. I don't know about American Beauty because I haven't seen it yet, but it does sound pretty good anyway. However, the point is, no matter how good or bad a movie is, Devil likes it. End of story.

Again what you say makes me doubt if you have seen it, calling American beauty romantic crap is like saying Fight club is dumb action crap which can only lead to two conclusions.
A. The person hasn't seen the movie and just read the name/synopsis.
B. Just sat through it and had no idea what was going on.

Watch it Again. Its in the Top 50 movies on IMDB and that list is the definition of masterpieces.

I'd highly doubt that, the list is near perfect ignoring the movies that got made 50 years ago ( different era-different tastes ) there's pretty much no crap there. ( excpet the Indiana jones movies they are crap though as they came like 30 years ago and maybe have been revolutionary/great in their own time i give them a free pass )

well if you are then don't watch it, its not a romantic movie its about a guy whose life is crap and he decides to change to it, its simply about a man's struggle to "freedom" much like the movies "The Shawshank Redemption" and " Fight Club "

I didn't diss Fight Club, the "theme" behind both movies is very similar presented in very different way and style. both movies are about trying to break free from the stuff that control your life.

A. The movie has lot of gay scenes, themes if you had really seen it you would have been dissing on that.

There is a character in the movie, Colonel Fitts you see he acts very anti-gay and overly homophobic but later we learn that was all a facade and all the overly homophobic-ness was trying to compensate for something. He was actually gay. So stop trying to act so overly "macho" it reminds me of him.

Another profound element of American Beauty is in the tag line: look closer. An individual's behavior is not independent of his environment. Humans are conformists by nature, and humans will modify their behavior to assimilate into existing social categories. And to all the people thinking its a gay movie no its not i just said that so see our friend's response making it extremely clear he hasn't seen it, the movie is harmless though it does has that girl from American Pie and she does get naked so yeah watch it.
