lol doing this will just piss them off further. They might make the packages even worse.
Secondly,
My friend is getting a new 2Mb connection. Is there any 2mb/4mb promotion running right now?

Okay, so I have been charged 5000 rupees fine for going over 300gb on my PTCL DSL connection.

They are telling me my usage is 331 gb.

I have DU meter installed, and it seems unlikely I ever made it up that far.

Can someone tell give me some advice on what to do?

Anyone know if it's possible to shift from copper to fibre? i.e. keep the same number.
If not, Is it possible to get a new fibre line with zero line rent?

Yes. I got shifted from Copper to fiber with same number. They charged me though. Or you can get a new fibre line with different number. Zero line rent is not possible in anyway in PTCL.

i am not much into this stuff but its really a big disadvantage in online gaming... as ping and upload speed are directly related.
i saw someone posted nayatel's speedtests and upload = download
why cant ptcl be like that. does it cost them more???
lol 1mbps is more than enough for gaming. Nayatel's ping is lower because there internal losses are minimum because of being FTTH.

you cant keep the same number. As for the other question, you can get fiber installed for free if you have contacts in PTCL. When it comes to line rent there is this package of theirs, i think its called pakistan plus for Rs.250. No monthly line rent for DSL users, free 2000 or 5000 minutes from ptcl to ptcl. Not fully sure about the package name will have to check once i get back home and see the telephone bill

Well my friend just placed an order and he was told that there would be zero line rent and that there would only be broadband charges. Seriously doubt it.

I am currently using 1MB connection. My line stats are as under:

DownstreamUpstream
Line Coding(Trellis):OnOn
SNR Margin (0.1 dB):358238
Attenuation (0.1 dB):250143
Output Power (0.1 dBm):91124
Attainable Rate (Kbps):16760963

Is it enough for 4MB connection?

Dear your attainable rate indicates you can go beyond 10mbps on this line.

I just heard that PTCL screwed up (is screwing its customers) once again and downgraded packages en masse...

Lo and behold my port speed is at 2mb from the previous 8mb...

You'll have to go to their exchange.. Does your phone have some kinda noise? Try removing splitter.
