There is a 300GB limit on downloads on PTCL DSL connections.

So my questions are;

a) Where can I monitor my usage.
b) Has anyone here ever been charged Rs. 5,000 fine if they went above 300GB in a month?
c) What is the metering period? is it the 1st to the 31st? Is it the 5th to the 5th?

Had maxcom! It was AMAZING.. same scene, phone went dead, maxcom guys fixed it.. then shitty cee ell bought maxcom.. spent 1 yr with PTCL.. worked good some days, and some, just didnt.. customer care is crap! (but again, had faced similar issues with world call many years ago.. dont know how it is now)

ahh. i asked around in my neighborhood about ptcl and no one had any major complaints. but it's done now already. worldcall will be installed today.

and my phone doesn't support upgrading to 4mb so maybe worldcall was the better choice as i got 4mb now

So that extra bonus speed is gone due to port upgrade ? For smart tv service. Mine is synced at 7168 but speed is now 480 Kbps instead of 760 Kbps.

My upload + download stats for the month were exactly 300GB, and I am worried i will be charged 5000. As tehre is no way to check online, I am really worried about this.

Ptcl has been crap all day. Haven't been able to open even google even though the modem is connected and the dsl stats are in excellent ranges. Posting this from my phone on edge in desperation.

I can confirm that. Speed has been dismal for the past 4 days or so.

that was taken away some time ago... i don't know if they have re-introduced it but there is not limit for sometime now as they didn't have an accurate way of measuring data...

I am facing very very very slow internet browsing on my 4mb connection. Even google takes 2 mints to load. Their representative told me its a backend issue and will be solved in 2-3 days. Anyone else facing this issue?

Guys my PTCL router is working fine, my laptops can connect to the internet fine through wifi. But my phone is not connecting to the router for some reason. It was fine until yesterday. I get an 'authentication failed' message everytime, even though I've hit 'forget' in the network settings and then made sure I enter the correct password for the network...but it still won't connect. What could be the deal?

I have Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0.4 on my phone.

this thread... and i have been downloading terabytes with my 900kb/s connection(actually a 4mb only) and no extra 5k yet... it is actually a very old news now... they removed it after a couple of months i think...

I've heard of Users going over limit and not being charged, and I have also heard of Users going over limit and being fined. Maybe it varies across exchanges? I don't know.

Will find out soon enough, and report back as to whether i was fined or not.

The power adaptor for my DSL (Zxdsl old white one) is gone. I am currently using an adaptor taken from another appliance, but i need to get a new adaptor.

I have registered a complated, and have also visited the one stop shop which was closed. Can anyone telll me if it is possible to get just the power adaptor for the modem separately from the one stop shop, and it's cost?

Take the router to any good electronic store and they will get you the adapter. That's what I always do. Ptcl takes a lot of time with these kind of things and they probably do the same.

Yes I have. Bought it from cooperative centre Karachi. It will cost you 100-300 depending the router you have. Ptcl people will probably rip you off.
