VLC did the trick now I am enjoying flawless HD

Media player clasic is conflicting with AMD drivers under Win7 64bit.

You should give splash lite a try too if you only want to play HD videos. It's interface is beautiful to say the least and image quality is as good as VLC if not better. I have been using VLC and Splash Lite for quite some time now.

less partitions will increase your pc's speed
but you have to format them in NTFS

Suddenly casing fans become toooo fast on computer start up
My system specs
Xig NRP 800 watts PSU
Asus p7p55d e evo mobo
core i3 2.9 GHz CPU, overclocked at 4.2 GHz
Xigmatek utgard casing
Radeon 6950 GPU
1 tb HDD
4 GB RAM

Sometimes when I push the start button the fans light up like they are powered by a nuclear reactor (i guess that they become 3-4 times more than the max speed). What I do is that I shut the computer via the power button and restart that after wait of few secs and then the startup is ok.
This has happened 5-6 times during the last 40 days.
What should I do now?
Which component is faulty?

I dont use any stabilizer.

can i connect 2 fans together(120mm and 80mm) to a single molex connector? so that they will distribute 12v voltage i.e both will run on 6 volts or they will drain 24 v out of my molex connector?

yup...because i did o.c my 1333mhz ram to 1600mhz and the user manual of my motherboard says that the max memory overclock limit is around 1600mhz for processors with integrated gpu like i3 and i5 (dual core) but you'll face difficulty in o.c your processor because when you'll increase bclk frequency it will also o.c your ram beyond 1600mhz .

since it has happened recently it can been anything, although my GUESS is that nothing is faulty.
on start up the fans go up to max speed, including the gpus...which make quite some sound...as soon as it boots the fans are slowed by the respective drivers according to the temperature.


i really do not think that they go that fast on start up...i think its the combined noise of all the fans in there that give the nuclear reactor illusion....

^ may be its windows problem waise open your pc case and note the temp of cpu cooler and graphics card and reply back

His Windows might be corrupt. Note that is "hangs" but does not turn off.
Or it could be viral activity.

To get rid of it, you'll need to format your C drive (or the drive on which Windows is installed), and reinstall Windows on that formatted drive. (make sure no valuable data is present on C drive before formatting. If there is, then move it via DOS).

its not worth comparing nvidia and ati...a card to card comparison on a similar budget is much fairer comparison. you should post your budget in the buying guide thread.

and yes physix does matter but it depends on game to game

So I have a core CPU that is an engineering sample... And it's not giving me a display on my intel DH55TC board, even with a external gpu. Any thoughts? Intel board has the latest bios and all the shops (including galaxy LHR) that I've been to have no idea what is wrong...

On another note, anyone in or around model town/gulberg Lahore willing to help me test the board and cpu? if you have an core 1156 cpu or an 1156 board I'd love to test my stuff out...
