Resident Evil Village ImageRESIDENT EVIL VILLAGE
The next generation of survival horror rises in the form of Resident Evil Village, the eighth major entry in the Resident Evil series. With ultra-realistic graphics powered by the RE Engine, fight for survival as danger lurks around every corner.

Set a few years after the horrifying events in the critically acclaimed Resident Evil 7 biohazard, the all-new storyline begins with Ethan Winters and his wife Mia living peacefully in a new location, free from their past nightmares. Just as they are building their new life together, tragedy befalls them once again. • First-Person Action – Players will assume the role of Ethan Winters and experience every up-close battle and terrifying pursuit through a first-person perspective. • Familiar Faces and New Foes – Chris Redfield has typically been a hero in the Resident Evil series, but his appearance in Resident Evil Village seemingly shrouds him in sinister motives. A host of new adversaries inhabiting the village will relentlessly hunt Ethan and hinder his every move as he attempts to make sense of the new nightmare he finds himself in.

Finally, some proper actual game related discussion!

Still don’t get why Chandoo feels shy of posting his impressions of the game though, it took me two minutes to post mine, lol.
Mass effect bhai Mass effect. Jo free time mil raha hai waha pe lag raha hai abhi.

TL;DR 8.5/10

Great follow up to RE7, does everything 7 does but on a much bigger scope. The clear RE4 inspirations are obvious. I really liked the clear distinction between the main zones and how each of them are clear thematic and game play differences from the other ones. House Beneviento was a very pleasant surprise and the kind of thing that makes me glad I was able to avoid most of the spoilers.

The game sets up more questions in the final stretch than it answers and feels like sequel bait in an otherwise very self contained game.

Finished the castle section and I'm sure this has been brought up before, but...

Spoiler: show

But is that it for her? If so, I feel like she was written off way too early. She was clearly better than that (and Ethan lol).

Cautiously optimistic about the rest of the game. The castle section is easily a 9/10 for me. If the game can maintain the same pacing and over-the-top fun characters, I don't see that score changing.
Spoiler: show

My sentiments exactly, I thought she would be the final boss of the game, they should have expanded on the castle bit a lot more.

As for the rest, anticipate nothing, each upcoming area is different in style to the last one. Go in blind!

What sort of submission hold would you prefer being applied to you from her, Pasha?

Bear hug, Triangle choke?

CerebralTiger's fav Edge review:

An hour later, Winters is hung up by
skewered palms in a castle bedchamber, tearing himself free only to have one mitt lopped clean off, which he miraculously glues back on with a glug of herbal medicine. All of which has strangely little impact on
the tense but unremarkable combat
, in which you aim
pistols, shotguns and rifles at joints and heads while backing away in circles. On the contrary: however much
they’re mauled, Winters’ hands and forearms are nigh- unbreachable defences. On normal difficulty, at least, they can block power drills and meat hammers the size of cars with just a pinch of lost health. This is useful, given that there’s no dodge button and Winters has all the agility of a sack barrow dipped in treacle.
Ye gameplay castle mein "9/10" kese hogaya? Must be a "stroke of genius" that only a few can gauge 😂

I think they forgot they weren't reviewing Battlefield 6, it's meant to be slow paced and you're a regular joe, not Captain Price :p

As far as I recall it was CerebralTiger who was discussing the Steam numbers.

But wow @ comparing CCU metric to total sales :ROFLMAO:

Which is why I'm interested in seeing the platform split lol. Probably sold less than 300-400k on Steam and the bulk of sales are likely on PS4/5.

Just started this over the weekend and played through roughly the first 3 hours on hardcore difficulty up until you get the 2 winged key.

From what I have played, this game feels absofuckinglutely fantastic. Superb visuals, great level design and tightly paced. But the best thing about it is the sound design. I am not sure if this is a PS5 / 3D audio / Tempest exclusive but it is mind bogglingly fantastic.

Alan wake 2 is yet to recover it's development costs. Due to no physical release and no steam launch.
You reap what you sow. This is what happens when you take away choice from consumers. Even with 88% split going to developers, they can't recoup costs. Meanwhile, Helldivers 2 is a massive hit for Sony thanks in big part to Steam.
