Village is a strong GOTY contender imo.
It's something very special Capcom has put together. I don't wanna give away anything but do play it ASAP and avoid spoilers.

But these frame time variances are due to drops in frame rate, which are there because the gpu is being stressed. It's not an IO bandwidth or latency issue

Capcom should've lowered the native resolution a bit in the case of both consoles. That said, it's a clear improvement over DMC5 Special Editon running in RT mode.

Well, LOD depends on multiple factors, including the GPU. The GPU has to be able to render higher detail at a greater distance. There has to be enough available memory (which I'm sure there is, so it's mainly a GPU limitation).

I wouldn't expect the PS5 to offer improvments wrt LOD. Pop-in is still going to be abundant in current-gen games.

I'm busy with Metro and by the time I'm done Mass Effect LE would've been released. Can't be playing Village over those games personally.

Game is stutter/frame drop gallore on PS5. Probably why CerebralTiger has been so quiet about it
