Introduction
When it comes to Cooling solutions, Reeven have somehow proven as one of the most valuable cooling solution maker in the PC Cooling Market. Not only Effective performance and design but a very competitive price too. They are known for bold Design makers such as Aluminium heatsink with Yellow and black front look of their coolers whether is Dual tower Okeanos or Brontes, their design and color scheme portrays their efforts. Reeven is pacing up in the market rapidly. Covering Performance, Look and Price simultaneously. They have some impressive product lineup, offering exquisite detail for gaming rigs.
With CPU coolers, Reeven have gained a lot of attention of Enthusiasts and reviewers party. While I have witnessed their one of top tier performers “REEVEN Ouranos RC1401” CPU cooler and have no hiccups to comment, REEVEN is objective to performance, price and Look. With a Reasonably low price, they additionally offer more performance than any other in the market. Since they are specialized in cooling category, the competitive price makes the difference. Anyhow, without off-tracking, I will focus on my subjective product. We have Reeven low profile CPU Cooler, that courtesy of REEVEN.
Reeven said:
STEROPES is a low profile CPU cooler that only measures 60mm in height.
Its ultra-thin fan and compact size make it the best choice for SFF (Small Form Factor) systems.
The design also incorporates REEVEN’s proprietary mounting kit that makes installation more than easy.
Today I’ll be focusing on Reeven Steropes – A low profile CPU Cooler (RC-1206b). The cooler specifically build for Mini- ITX systems, providing maximum possible compatibility to HTPC users at all cost. Reeven Steropes – a low profile cooler measured 60mm height with the product dimension of W125 x H60 x D129mm making it perfectly suitable for SSF. While it’s a small form factor cooler with compact design, its weighing at 470g including Fan.
The Package
Cooler was shipped in an original box can be seen in above pictures. A small box with contents showing on top and around sides. The Top contains the Product name and Model details and some major features along with picture of Cooler.
Around the side, the content printed stating the Caution while installing the cooler.
Inside the box, I found Steropes Cooler and Accessories box tightly fixed longside heatsink.
I opened the accessory box, I found the installation kit as shown above. The bundle is quite standard so aside the Steropes low-profile CPU cooler you're also getting a small pouch with thermal conductive material, installation instructions, 8 screws, 4 rubber washers and several brackets
Closer Look
Reeven always have focused on look and design. This low profile cooler nicely themed on top with Black and Yellow display on top. The REEVEN Logo is engraved on front of heatsink. If you ask me, I love their designing.
Cooler contains 5 copper, nickel plated heat pipes of 6mm, which passing through the fin. While 3 heat pipes are bent.
Final Look
This is top View of which is visible while is isntalled and running in your PC. The front of Cooler contains Reeven Logo. I used this installation orientation just to show the RAM compatibility and of course heatsink's limit towards PCIe slot.
this is back side view of Cooler, you can see the heat pipes are passing through the fin. the heat pipes quite closer to motherboard's top heatsink, but not touching at all. Aside, the DiMMs, heatsink hardly coming parallel to DiMM slots. You can install the same cooler in any other orientation depending the requirement.
Testing Method
Overview of Testing method
- Temperature test run Prime95 and AIDA64 CPU stress Tests
- All the test run long for about 10 minutes
- Maximum and Minimum Temperature readings used in charts
- I always used Noctua NT-H1 Thermal Paste.
- Ambient Temperature is 21C
- There is a 1% error of margin in Ambient
- RealTemp – For Monitoring Temperatures
- HWiNFO32 – For Monitoring Temperatures and voltages
- AI Suite III – For Controlling and Monitoring Fan Speed
- Prime95 version 25.11 – For Max Load
- AIDA64 Extreme 4.7v – For Typical Load
Results
All the test was being done at 21C degrees Celcius. In This regard, most popular Prime95 and AiDA64 programs were used to torture the CPU thermal performance on Reeven steropes. After 10 minutes of stressing, the results are compiled into tables and then converted into graphs. Results are as under.
Start off with CPU idle Temperature. It has been seen that most coolers give a similar idling performance, REEVEN Steropes didn’t go anything odd. The CPU idling at 28c at idles. This stage is not that significant, but a formal way to start off the tests.
Now I’ve come over to Stress the CPU under stock clocks load. It has found that REEVEN steropes is not that bad for even tower PC. The Temperatures are within the acceptable parameters. However, if we do a comparison through this chart, it gives 58C Degrees while falling just behind to Enermax Liqmax II 120S AIO cooler.
On the other hand, I started stressing CPU under overclocked CPU. Since it is a Low profile cooler, I was expecting this cooler limits the temperature to some extent without falling too much on performance. The result shown some similar figures. It is almost touching the 75C degrees when stressed out through Prime 95. Meanwhile, at typical load it reaches to 61C under ambient 21C. Overclocking is definitely a Not an option under considering such thermal performance. Such performance, indicating Steropes' actual potential while at extreme load or say under overclock setting and is definitely not for an overclocked system.
Conclusion
Pros:
- Excellent Build Quality
- Compatible with Mini-ITX
- Adequate stock performance
- Competitive Price (Considering for Mini-ITX systems)
- Cooler can be install in any orientation
- Poor Overclocking performance
- Yellow not for all
- Availability is an issue - Especially in Pakistan (Asia Pacific)
