Recommend Compression Tool for ultra-compressing Game Setups for Back-up !

As the quite lengthy title states itself, I want to back-up the 5 or 9 GB game setups on my hard drive but want to ultra compress them... To may be half sizes or even less.....

I have UHARC compressions to be quite nasty... But dont know much about it...

So kindly recommend me the software which I should use to compress these ...

7zip compresses really good, but its extremely slow if you go for the highest comparison ratio.

agree with chandoo here 7z is best i think , never got any backup corrupted , never had any special issues with its , i use bzip2 compression algorithm

7zip all the way the best compression and will agree with chandoo that its damn slow when it comes to high compression But its worth it.

PS: Some1 here was developing a Extra/Super high Compression Software which can make the file shrink around some MBs so what happnd to it ?

there is one extra high compression tool named.
KGB compression.
it compresses in kgb format but it requires min 1 gb ram and is extremely slow.
in other words. with so much load shedding in pak. u wont ever be able to compress anything.

if i were u i'd just use it rather that trying to save some mb's i'd rather get a new external HD

Loadshedding is messy, but still I was able to complete one compression I did with 7z. Took about an hour and compressed the Crysis Warhead ISO from about 7.2GB to 5.7GB, that was like 1.5GB compression. Pretty good but now what I was looking for.

Although strangely enough I tried another compression of a PS2 Burnout ISO with same settings, and did from 4 to 1GB in about 30 minutes..... This was a better result, but I dont know why the result with Crysis wasnt similar.....

I used the normal LZMA algorithm, will also try bzip2 as na33m mentioned and see the results

just to let you know there is no such stable proper version of KGB archiver out there.

The bzip2 algorithm didnt produce better results, it was slower and the compression ratio was a little worse. Made the Burnout ISO to about 1.25GB......

Although I was thinking, may be the Crysis Warhead ISO is already compressed, also I should see what I can get about KGB.

Will check these things later after I return to Karachi....

First of all I say again "do not compress your important data with KGB when you will delete your original data, because there is 50% chance that your compressed data with KGB will get corrupt"

Secondly go for 7zip with highest compression setting, I'd say that it is best for high compressing of any data.
