PCs are no longer the powerful ones in the hardware battle with consoles.
I personally am an avid PCgamer mostly because i dont own any consoles but one main reason is the freedom you get on PC ... Emulation ... Game Modding thats not possible on consoles easily (from GTA (model replacements) to memory-code variations) and stuff
but Consoles have finally won the battle, a 1200 US$ custom Gaming Rig cant compete with a a 600 US$ PS3 ... the differences are very large and in the end the consoles finally win...its sad but then again ... its easier to manager a console and have less issues rather then get a gaming system that needs to be upgraded every 6 months to be able to play all the latest games. I am gonna get a PS3 when i can afford one. Linux is calling for me and i would love to learn with this OS on the PS3
Once the PS3 dev community get their hands a lil dirty, its gonna be fun. PCs are good but when i get my PS3 .... or whatever NG console i can afford in a year or so i'll be using my PC for surfing and coding only.

i hope X360/PS3/Wii have atleast 5 years of lifespan so that ppl like me who get their consoles when the console is in the final years of its life get to enjoy alot of stuff off it.

Well the PC is always a different platform then consoles, and if you have the money upgrading never disappoints as the PC experince is very different from consoles. In particular PC is the place to be for fans of RTS, Turn Based Strategy, MMORPGs, CRPGs and Indie games.
And kudos to MS for the 360 its a combination of the best of the PC world as well as consoles. Its a cheap solution for PC gamers like me.

In my opinion PC gaming beats console for the most part.HArdcore gamers gmae on consoles and consoles because consoles have veryt fun and challegning games o nthe m but pc gaming is also challenging and fun because of the graphics and speed pf the game. The pcs are expensive and have needs while a 360 is half the price of a nice pc and has simmilar performance!

Thats why i chose consoles as the new 'kings' now ... you dont have to upgrade ur console every year ..and you are worryless of issues like this game needs 1.5 Gig ram and i have got 1.25 .... and stuff..... I would've got rid of this beloved pc of mine now but the only reason i have to keep it is surfing and my Coding needs .. which cant be done on a PS3 efficiently .unless the ps3dev scene gets mature enough to fullfill all my computer needs via linux ..FW hacks on the PS3 ...

things are getting along well .. the community is working on how to control this beast anyway

Well actually the PC upgrading every year is a myth, i have freinds running oblivion on PCs they got in 2001/2002, the only reason to upgrade in about every 1.5 year is if you want to play games at max settings otherthan a upgrade easily plays games for the next 4/5 years.

You'll be bashing ur head against ur keyboard like me ... i actually SOLD my PS2 to get this 3 GHz HT processor back when it was a 'very speedy' processor ..now its just making me think i shud've kept my PS2 instead.

PCs are never stable... consoles ... you dont need to upgrade anything other than the firmwares (in PS3/X360/Wii case now )

Nope, i myself downloaded, installed the patch on his PC ( FX5200 ) which allows it to run on older cards. Ofcourse you have to disable some features such as shadows, Lower view distance, Turn off shaders and tada the game runs very smoothly.

Gamespot, get the latest offcial patch

To really improve performance you might wanna do some .ini file editing
