I agree brother. Not fair at all as far as other areas of kpk are concerned. Even in hayatabad only one phase is fully on fiber. Rest of the phases are on partial fiber..

@vtec is the modem same or changed on VDSL? Also, the wire that comes to your house, is it still copper or now fiber??

Yes the router is different, DSL guy said for 20mbps the old router is fine (it has 2 antennas and lays horizontally flat on the table unlike the standing one shown in the picture)
When I told him I needed 50mbps he said u will need the new VDSL router which supports high download and upload speeds (with the old router u will get the same 1mbps upload speed even if u have 20mbps package)
This is the new router

Fiber optic is only till pole, from pole to my house is simple copper wire (the black one)

Wait what? This is in Peshawar? I applied for a VDSL upgrade and my exchange people said no such facility is available in whole of KP. I live in cantt area.

bro in which phase do u live? i live in phase 6 and i ordered a 50mb connection but my modem had serious sync issues even though my snr is around 31-35db on 20mb connection.. 20mb works perfectly but 50mb could not work so i had to downgrade to 20mb.

Here is the update to my plan

I got the 100mbps upgrade and it is amazing

SNR dropped to around 8db but its still stable, no disconnection issue

Right now I have applied for Smart TV since it is included in the whole package of 100mbps, the DSL guy of our exchange was nice enough to install and configure everything quickly but I think it is using the internet to stream Smart TV because whenever I start downloading something, Smart TV starts getting stuck. The higher download speed I get, the worse Smart TV gets, like if I start downloading at 10-11MB/sec Smart TV is barely watchable.
Its been 8 days and whenever I call the complaint/helpline they say "Sir aap ka to Smart TV active hi nahi hua jab tak active nahi ho ga tab tak aap ko issues atay rahein ge, mein idhar se complain forward kar raha hon 48 hours mein issue resolve ho jaye ga"

bro i have the same vdsl router as urs but dont know why 50mb wont work. the 'dsl' light just kept on blinking when i got the 50mb package.

Got my 20Mbit transformed up today; I wanted 100mbit right off the bat, but they said they'd start me off at 20mbit and upgrade me to 50 and 100 over a month each.

I must have explicitly asked at least 5 different people if this was going to be FTTH; everyone confirmed that I'd get fiber right inside my room. Sadly, I wasn't home when they installed the connection and it turns out this really isn't last mile fiber. Anyway, new line, new number, new everything so I guess I'll give it a go for a couple months before deciding to keep PTCL or Fiberlink.

No you won't get fiber to home. In fact, your entire wire, uptill the main box will be the same old copper wire. I have a 20 MBPS on tranformed. One thing I should tell you from experience is that make sure PTCL changes your DSL modem to VDSL modem (it is a newer D-Link modem). When my connection was upgraded, it was 20 MBPS on ADSL+. On ADSL there are 2 issues: unreliable connection, and slow upload speeds.. upload was less than 1 mb. I placed the order on phone to upgrade but they did not do it. I finally decided to go their office. They took the old modem and replaced it with new.. it didn't take half hour. Now the upload speed is 5 mb + and I feel like the connection is much more reliable overall.

Smart TV was not as affected on ADSL, but after I changed my modem to VDSL for 20 MBPS, I had the same issue as you're saying.

So apparently they are doing these transformed packages for Bahria Lahore exchange as well and my landline number falls in that category.I am currently using 12mbVDSL for which i am paying 5300(with tax).My original call to ptcl helpline was to downgrade to 8mb VDSL because 5300 is too much.But the operator asked me if i would like a 20mb TRANSFORMED package as my number apparently is in bahria exchange even though i am almost 3km away near EDEN villas.This package was 4030(incl. TAX) for 20mb. Ofcourse i said yes to the offer and as she was processing,there was an issue and i had to wait 48 hours to order again.Will update you guys tomorrow or the day after.Sounds too good to be true.

Guys, I called up PTCL and they said that currently both Gulshan e Iqbal and Gulistan e Johar exchanges have not currently been upgraded as of 20th October 2017.

Would be a good to check it again for upgrade status in a few weeks and months time.

They have reached Malir Cantt area, so the next natural big residential area is Gulshan and Gulistan e Johar Karachi.

Always a good idea to keep calling them at 1236 for upgrade status every two to four weeks.

People living in Bahria Town Lahore or surrounding areas DO NOT fall for this shit.After a 40min call with the Billing department,it turns out that the idiot operator was misinformed and there are no TRANSFORMED packages available for Bahria Lahore or relevant exchanges.I was UPGRADED to 20mb Regular VDSL and my bill for the next month was around 6000 without taxes.Idiot fucking operator misguided me and now i had to downgrade back to 12mb vdsl.Be warned if anyone if offering you a transformed package in Bahria,its bullshit.There is no feasibility there yet.

Go to exchange and confirm if you can. This is best way to confirm. Otherwise call help 2-3 times and inquire from different operators one by one. If all told same than it would be confirm. Or the safest way is to change your package to 10 Mbps transform package first, since 10 Mbps isn't available under conventional packages, it would be confirm if transform packages are available to your number or not. Than you can change either 20 or 50 mbps package.
