PTCL - 8MB to 10MB or 20MB?

Hey Guys,

I need help, I am using PTCL 8MB vDSL connection paying around 4300 PKR per month bill, Today I visited PTCL website and saw there is no 8MB package anymore and packages are now replaced with 10MB 2500 PKR and 20MB 3000 PKR?

But why my connection is still 8MB and I am paying 3000 for Package and 1300 PKR taxes total 4300. Should I call them and ask them to update my speed? or its just for new connetions?

Anyone can get these packages. I upgraded mine a month ago from 8 to 10mb. I upgraded via online chat and it got upgraded instantly during the conversation.

Follow PTCL mega thread here on pg for more info. These packages are available for couple of months, there is even a 50mb package.

Yes, call them. You can change your package over the call. 20 MBPS will cost you around 3500 including the taxes.

I just contacted them via chat they saying it will cost me 3300 PKR for 10mb and will take around 48 hours to upgeade.

Maybe yes. It will cost me around 2900 in my Rawalpindi. Tax rates are different area wise.

i was being charged 4300 for an 8mb connection, i was fedup with the slow speeds and high payments. so i called them to cancel then the operator told me i can have the same features and with 10mb and bill would be total 2800ish something. then i moved to this package
but still mostly the speed i feel is like 1 to 2mb. very poor speeds by PTCL. not even youtube videos play fluently.

I am using 20Mbps VDSL connection and I pay 4030/- PKR including tax. I am using it since Feb 2018 Speeds are good and I am a streamer too so it works pretty good for me

Which area? Maybe it's the line issue. I'm having 10mbps on ADSL. The speedtest shows around 10mbps while the real download speed goes upto 1mbps. The main speed difference is felt on video steaming. I can watch HD movies on Netflix without pausing for a single second. You must have issues with your line.

Yes! I was paying 2300 for a 4mbps package. They were old packages. These are the new packages:

PTCL Unlimited Internet

You can upgrade to 10mbps. You won't be charged any line rent. You can use smart tv for free. You get 150 minutes to ptcl and 50 minutes to other networks under these packages. YES, 2500 for 10mbps internet+smart tv+150minutes to ufone and ptcl+50 other network minutes+ no 200 charges of line rent.

So now I confirmed from them and my cousin. My package cost will be 2500. Taxes will be around 300.

I am in Federal B Area, Block 11. Dont know the issue, the speeds i get are usually very poor. However, in off peak hours (morning, late nights) the speeds are a bit acceptable

You need to switch to VDSL.

do you know your line stats ?
i recently upgraded from 8mb to 20mb
my snr before was 23-24db downstream with 9215 downstream kbps

now i am on 22500 kbps and my downstream snr has dropped to 7-8db

my line is still stable,no disconnections etc.but my download speed tests dont go above 9-11mbps most of the times.

attached speed test done right now.

i am on adsl2+

can vdsl2 give me better snr?
