Port forwarding with Birt Lord on PTCL broadband ..

so i assume all the ptcl customers have the shiro box, has anyone else done this port fowrarding crap ? is it worth it ? does it make torrents go considerably faster ?

Port forwarding do increase the speed of torrents by allowing the incoming connections (uploading) as many private trackers only allow equal sharing i-e you need to upload the same amount on the tracker the amount you downloaded so everyone gets a good speed..

Anyway whole guide is available on portforward.com as well as here too..search for superlative guide in this section he has posted the screenshots about doing the portforwarding for utorrent client on shiro modem.

1. Torrents >> any file sharing crap
2. Port forwarding is not really needed, the speed improvements are negligible on PTCL
3. Utorrent is your friend.

i also recommend utorrent over bitlord
if you have the shiro dsl80se router go here for utorrent and here for bitlord

and http://www.utorrent.com/testport.php?port=00000 to test if port is open or not (change 00000 to your port #)

I've stopped using torrents since I got my RS Premium Account. There is only one website you need to go to which has EVERYTHING, stuff with even all the torrent sites combined, but not sure if we're allowed to post here etc. Torrents are really slow compared to RS, which gives full line speed. If you're a free user you're out of luck . RS has removed the waiting limit but the download speed for free users has dropped significantly.

Anyways, port forwarding does increase speed and stability of the connection so I'd recommend you do it.

I don't know how PTCL handles torrents and all, but the above statement was based on experience only.

well yes, you need to go to portforwading website and enter the port number.
