I'm trying to get one shipped directly from the US .. But I've heard that for a good 3D view, bigger screens are more recommended ..

Simulview is the biggest draw for me, considering how plenty of first-party titles are supporting it (KZ3, Motorstorm Apocalypse, UC3). Plus, since it's built specifically for gaming, I'm sure it won't have the same kind of input lag that all existing 3DTVs are plagued with.

Another reason why I'm opting for this instead of a larger screen is because hdmi 1.4 only supports 3D at 720p/60Hz for gaming (1280x1440, to be precise). There's no real advantage of having a larger-than-32-inch screen, because you simply won't be getting the same kind of detail that you would with a crisp 1920x1080 picture.

It would be best to get this now, and get a 3DTV later once hdmi 1.5 with Full HD 3D @ 60Hz is possible.

The screen looks really small, I mean seriously small. I doubt you'll have perfect view of your game when playing in SimulView, like if you move a millimeter to the left, you lose sight of your game

Movies, basically. You can still watch video content at 1080p/24Hz.

100% correct, and this is why I'm still pretty doubtful over my decision. Might just end up changing my mind and get a larger TV at the last minute

Based on all the previews I've seen, SimulView appears to be working rather well. Even when you move around, you never lose sight of your game because your 3D glasses remain synced to your (player 1's) 60 Hz output signal, whereas player 2 gets the remaining half of the total 120Hz refresh cycle. The picture you see is pretty blurry, though.

^^ good point ! im getting basically for 3d movies, for games wearing glasses on top of my glasses already and playing etc too much hassle ill surely try it out but wearing it all the time seems stupid while playing games haha plus the glasses also makes the picture go a bit dark...

anyways saw this newspaper ad on samsung 3dtvs... it said something about a 3d pdp samsung tv for 70k !

A think a few points need mentioning here:

1. Simulview supports specific games. At launch Sony has said MotorStorm Apocalypse, Gran Turismo 5, Killzone 3 and Super Strdust HD would be only supported. More games would be added afterwards to the Simulview support. So the question arises what about the numerous other PC / Xbox games?

2. Playstation 3D display only has two types of inputs [2 hdmi, 1 component]. So if you're planning to use the this as a single display for PS3/Xbox and PC [like I initially was], you should bear in mind that there are slim chances you would be able to use 3D for your PC games. HDMI 1.4 does not support 120Hz bandwith for 3D [it's reduced to 60Hz] and for that your better off with a dedicated 120Hz monitor. Here's a very good thread on this discussion over at EVGA forums:

So basically what Sony are giving here is a half baked 3D monitor, with a pudding called 'Simulview' which is only supposed to work for 4 PS3 games at launch. For me, 'PlayStation' or otherwise, this ain't just good enough.

Bought this amazing 3d display in Toronto on the boxing day and it died in 8 days. WTF!! the whole hardware is faulty and sony might recall it. Everyone who bought it is getting the same ring of death kind of red blinks. Going to return it tmrw!
