Play Station 4 (Damaged Disc) Error

Aoa,
I have Play Station CUH-1206-A which i recently bought (used), and I also bought COD Black Ops 3 for it last night. It plays all other games smoothly, but when i start Black Ops, there are weird sounds from DVD ROM, as its struggling, and on the logo screen, it freezes and gives error "Cannot continue using the application, disc cannot be read, make sure its not damaged or dirty". When i press on "Close app and remove disc" it stops responding and screen blacks out and I have to unplug the console. Please help. I searched on the internet, and some articles suggest i might have to rebuild the database and this might fix the issue. Is this step worth taking? Also, the game was downloading an update of 15gb, could that be a reason? Moreover, i left the PS4 "On" all night so that downloading could resume, but when i woke up, PS was sleeping (with a yellow light), and when i checked download status it said failed to download. What could be the reason?

Do other discs work fine?

Remove all Black Ops 3 data. Rebuild the database.
Then let it download all the updates again and then try loading the game.

yes other discs work fine.I did everything you mentioned above,and I used a different black ops disc this time.now it lets me play zombie mode a bit,and throws that ugly error on myface after afew minutes.capmaign doesnt get highlighted,keeps on installing maybe.this is really driving me crazy now.sony made a piece of crap if it cant beprofile fixed

My cousin had the same issue on his 11xx series PS4, the one with the auto-ejecting issue lol, anyway, a new BO3 disc and fresh update fixed the issue for him. Strange how it didn't work for you.


Did you download the update all in one go, or stop in between and resume it later?

In Pk, you can never download a 15gb update in one go
No the download never completed, but it should play without it shouldnt it? It keeps installing and gets stuck when half of Multiplayer installation is done. and normally then the error comes. Anyways, any idea will I get the issue resolved if I make a digital purchase? I dont want to risk my money for a digital purchase, which i can't sell afterwards, for a game that is unwilling to play on my ps.

already did, looks like there is no proper way out. One should feel lucky if any of the youtube charms work. The only way i think out is a digital purchase.

or wait for black friday...maybe the game will go on sale and u can save a bit....

lol yes thats what im waiting for. Black friday gives some pretty cool deals at daraz. but im hoping its not a hardware fault.

Probably something got corrupted. Just rebuild and download the update. Updates fail all the time...for some reason PSN doesn't work well with PTCL at times.

The yellow light is just your PS4 going into rest mode - if you leave the console idle for a long time, it goes into sleep mode but downloads in the background.
