Crackdown may seem like a GTA clone at first but in truth it’s the furthest thing from it, it’s like a mix and match of the best parts of GTA, Hulk and Shooters, enough stalling … Justice will be served!
If you loved Assassins Creed, Crackdown is right up your alley. You’re a super agent. Jump higher than any man, scale sky scrapers, drive exclusive kick-ass vehicles and free-run like your life depended on it kinda guy.

Nothing sticks like a harpoon, buy one today!
Crackdown starts off as your average free-roaming game.. You’re in a huge city with gangs you need to deal with. You can jack cars etc and other the other shenanigans you’ve come to expect in similar games.
The superpowers really elevate the game to another level. It’s the perfect superhero game, over-the-top AND fun to play. Crackdown doesn’t play like a shooter, there’s very little aiming involved. The game has an interesting mechanic; you can target anyone by pulling the left trigger, after than you can use the right thumbstick to target head, torso or limbs. After that you need to wait for it to lock, you can lock-on to torso immediately, head shots take time depending on the distance and the firearm you’re using. It’s a match made in heaven really and lends to some really amazing gameplay moments. Perched on top of a building, bring out the RPG, target goons on the street, jump off the building and fire when in range. AWESOME.
Thank you MTV for pimping my ride!
Another great feature is the use of safehouses (called agency supply points) you can replenish your health and ammo at any supply point, sounds average? Here’s the kicker, there’s no load screen or any other interrupting bullshit, you stand on the supply point and press Y and done. You can also travel from one supply point to other in an instant, supply points are spread all over the city.
Cars feel a bit awkward at first, but that feeling goes away after a while. The system is a mix between pure arcade and sim. The stunts you can pull off later in the game will drop jaws.
Crackdown borrows Mercenaries’ Deck of cards system of bosses. Each boss has lieutenants that you can take out. You can go after the don without taking out the lieutenants but it’s nigh impossible. All of the bosses have great personalities and the fights take place in memorable environs.
The game uses a 3D cell shaded art style, the graphics look amazing. The draw distance is incredible plus a district here has more civilians than whole of Vice City. The smoke effects are incredible and the explosions kick all kinds of asses.
The less said about the story the better, there are no black gangs here if that’s what you’re worried about. The goons are really funny; they go around screaming in foreign tongues upon your sights, the bosses are mean too. What lets this all down is the fact that your character is pretty much dead. You don’t say a word in the whole game, no one except the agency boss even speaks to you; furthermore, you can change your agent before a save game load which kinda kills any attempt at story they made. I didn’t expect a story going into game but there must be something. Let’s hope that this is fixed in the sequel.
i believe i can flyy!
Ah, but I saved the best for last, what makes Crackdown really stand out amongst other run-of-the-mill gangsta crime games is the awesome ability to jump crazy heights and scale almost anything!. You can’t leap much in the start but you level up as you go on, you can improve your abilities by collecting agility orbs. These green pellets are spread all over the city! And they work like a charm. Orb hunting will eat hours of your time. You grab one and another is on the roof of the adjacent building and then the hunts starts. The rooftop races are a great way to acquire orbs.
This incredible ability to scale mountains and buildings also adds another twist to the game. Crackdown is most fun you’ll ever have doing nothing. Jumping from building to building, finding hidden entrances to boss locations or just taking out a boss from top of a hill without being detected, this is just a small list of things you can achieve. The feeling of being free, able to climb anything, go anywhere is something not many games can claim and Crackdown has that in bucket loads. The fun factor goes off the charts when the gang hit squads chase you, you thought the chases sequences in Assassins Creed were intense, just wait till you check this out!
If all this sounds too complex, all you need to do is try the game. If you even remotely liked Assassins Creed, you will LOVE this, trust me. Everything just comes together the way it should, all will be revealed after an hour of play, it’s really hard to describe the feeling of being a lone wolf causing chaos while in mid-air. Crackdown is made of fun fun fun. It’s an interesting twist on an existing formula that works really well. If you’re sick and tired of average GTA games & Spidermans, you need to give Crackdown a shot. It’s everything you wanted from an action game and more.

this better be you flying off to get a copy!

Our Rating for Crack....down Review!

9.0 Value/Worth

A huge city with 4 distinctly different districts to explore! let's forget the co-op and the lengthy single player missions. 8.0 Graphics
The cell shaded look works like a charm, the draw distance in unreal and the framerate never skips a beat.

8.0 Sound

The title theme is a memorable one, the inhabitants of the districts have decidedly hilarious voices.

8.0 Gameplay

You just never get tired of! multiple ways to achieve objects, great skills progressions system, awesome platforming and a very unique shooting system.

7.0 Multiplayer

Co-op works great, things become crazy as hell with 2 superagents loose in a city!

8 Overall

Something out of left field, and something very statisfying. a must-have!

LOL i wouldnt call it a child's game with all the violence going on, crackdown is canvas for you to paint. i took down all the boses without messing with the lackeys.

i would just climb and poke around till i found the boss's location and then go straight in! lets not forget the game has the most powerful kick in any game ever! football with cars! totally awesome.

About the Microsoft (and Sony) debate, I feel both have become too greedy and losing their minds over corporate greed. Personally, I will never buy any console next gen and switch to PC gaming where democracy reins.

did you try setting up Google Payments? For UBL you may have to get it enabled for internet transactions, Naya should work without it!

  • Aciel Aciel:
I tried both NayaPay, and UBL, but I keep getting "correct country selected..." error. I already have PK set there 🤦‍♂️

Did y'all see the new Assassin's Creed trailer? They finally made a AC set in Japan & then they put a negro as the male protagonist. Ubisoft is taking cues from Disney, and it isn't gonna end well for them, just like Disney. Go woke, go broke!
