It's only because there's currently no way to output at 120Hz at a system level on PS5 (it's possible on the Series X). If there had been, 60fps @ 120Hz output would've offered the ideal balance between performance and IQ for single-player / PVE games. Heck, I'll take 40fps @ 120Hz too
