Whats most impressive to me in God of War is how deep the RPG elements are especially given the fact that it has primarily been a hack-n-slash action game. You have weapon and armor crafting, Runes, talismans loads of stuff that you can mix and match. Then there are builds with Strength, Defense, Rune, Luck etc. I am emphasizing more on strength build ignoring my Defense stats at the moment. This is on top of the fact that there are multiple upgrades for your AXE, shield and Artreus himself. Highly impressive work here by Santa Monica.

Yes, but... They only seem impressive right now because of the hype you had for this game.

Ummmmmm there might be some truth in there. I am not saying that this is anything revolutionary or that its not done before. I knew the combat and lore was a lot different to the previous games but what surprised me was the emphasis on these RPG elements. It is somewhat a core mechanic if you want to progress effectively especially on the higher difficulties. This is not what God of War has been known for and that is what is impressive for me. Also the mechanics do not feel as if they are they are there for namesake only, they fit mighty well and there is this temptation to keep on upgrading your character stats - something that i didnt think could ever be in a God of War game. This is why i think its impressive.

I just lost my tour guide lol...At one moment Kratos is teling Atreus why she can’t be trusted, the next moment he trusts her himself to drive the events forward..

I have to agree with GloriousChicken here. Nearly everything the game does, its a first for this franchise (ita a reboot so that makes sense). Everything is standard fare in the genre.

Lol my fingers kept going towards Square and Triangle for attacking. Went to the settings and pleasantly surprised that there's an option to change the combat buttons. Good shit. Loving this game so far.
