A bit LTTP. Just got my hands on this today. Completed the first few chapters of NERO and boy what a fantastic game this is. My only gripe with this game currently is that it takes the control away from the player far too much with those mini cut scenes. Very annoying design choice.

Kylo ren ultimately made me pull the plug on this game. Boy is he tedious to play as. Elder Greyon boss fight is such a joke. Stay back and let the summons do shit while you occasionally dodge. This is drab af. There is no real incentive to do anything but mindlessly mash the buttons. Game doesn't punish you for it and progress isn't halted either.

Same old small arena after arena filled with brain dead punching bags. Gets cheap and monotonous. It may have been cool back in the PS2 era but is poor game design now.

Its a shame this franchise refuses to evolve. Except in the visuals department. The character models in cut scenes look incredible. I just can't play through the game to view all of them.

Finished this a couple of days ago and really enjoyed it. The game looks and plays fantastic. The neons reminded me somewhat of Infamous SS and both these games are a delight to look at visually. Even if people dont enjoy these kinds of games, the game is an absolute beauty to look at. My favorite character to play with was hands down NERO. I found both Dante and V do be less interesting when it came to the actual gameplay. V's fighting is mindless button mashing and Dante's Sword and melee combos were a real letdown. All in all, I really enjoyed the game.

I agree with you in principle but somehow the game kept me hooked on to itself. Maybe it was the story or Nero's fighting that I wanted to get back to but it kept me interested nonetheless. Also, i think the game length here played a very important role. If the game had been lengthy this might have turned into a drag. But the tightly controlled story and shorter game length is what made the experience very enjoyable, while it lasted.

Yes but it gets so repetitive. Esp due to this:

This is what makes even the current length feel dragged out. Variation for the sake of it. The story is hardly interesting enough to carry the game on its own.

Dante arsenal includes 4 different fight styles and several weapons to switch between on-the-fly. He's the character with the most comprehensive moveset and combo potential in the game. It's just that doing basic combos/juggles with Nero is simpler.

Dante is way too complex for me. 4 melee weapons, then those four difference styles then than freakin hat. I usually stick to one style i like the most and then go with it. I guess thats why i like playing with Nero. It's just a personal preference. I am also more of a sword guy so playing with those nunchucks and punches didnt appeal that much. The one thing that I absolutely loved doing was starting a combo with the sword and then immediately switching to that bike special ability. That was the highlight for me with Dante.

Sword Play, I only enjoyed with Nero. Variety of moves and combos, got the reb orbs in bulk so it saves time and let me enjoyed the battles already from the beginning. On the other hand, Dante's offering has more diversions, but the combination of his Sword, punches and Bike blades during fights plays extremely fun; totally epic especially when you're surrounded with big demons. Subsequently, high probability of ending up with SS rank.

Holy wow!!!! He's constantly hitting Goliath with maxt-act while never touching the ground and taking no damage on DMD difficulty, where bosses have 800% health and also enter devil trigger state after losing 2/3rd health :eek:

Now this is what I call pure skill! *salutes*

how is chaining lengthy combos any good when all you're going up against is dumb AI trapped inside a small corridor?....I'm sorry to say, but this kind of gameplay is ends up becoming cheap and monotonous.

whenever you're stuck fighting a bunch of enemies, the doors/paths leading to the entrance and exit of areas are blocked by this weird red colored ooze....now, you have to admit, this is old-gen stuff....why restrict the gameplay and make it feel like small arena fights, one after the other?....it makes everything so terribly monotonous, not to mention dumb.

I'm not going to take a DMC game seriously until they entirely revamp the engine and fix the fundamentally flawed nature of the existing games.

wth man has the game gone hard or what... i used to play this on the ps2 and such devil hunter mode was not that hard but here in some instances and boss fights i gotta use the gold orb which sucks :mad:

Damn, this looks like an upgrade above and beyond what Capcom did for DMC4 SE for the PS4/XBO.

Being unshackled from the shitty Jaguar CPUs probably allows developers a lot more leeway to add more enemies, AI routines etc. Always nice to see.
