[h=1]Call of Duty’s Blackout experimented with more players at the end of the beta[/h]

[h=2]The battle royale mode worked well with 80, 88 and 100 players, but no one knows what the limit will be in the final game[/h]

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4’s new battle royale mode Blackout concluded its beta on Monday afternoon, but not before trying to squeeze a few more players into every game first, bringing each match’s total players up to 100.
During the beta’s initial release on PlayStation 4, the number of players that could be in any one Blackout match was capped at 80. After the first day, and happy with the game’s performance, the developers at Treyarch increased the limit to 88 players and stayed there when it was released on Xbox One and PC on Friday, Sept. 14. This max capacity held until the beta reached its official end point, 1 p.m. ET, on Monday.
However, Treyarch announced on Twitter that the company would be extending the beta two more hours and increasing the maximum players to 100 in each match.

Increasing the player count in battle royale games has long been a problem, as the more players in each match, the bigger strain there is on servers, degrading the experience of each players’ game. For instance, in professional matches of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, such as the at this year’s PUBG Invitational, there were only 80 competitors in each match to help provide the players with the smoothest possible experience.
It’s clear that Treyarch was happy with the performance of Blackout when it was sitting at just 80 players, and again when it was at 88, leading it to give us all a little bit of time with 100 person matches. While Treyarch didn’t allow players too much time to play with the 100 player options, from our time with the game — in lobbies that were usually around the mid 90s — performance still seemed impressively smooth and easy to play, something that already sets Blackout apart from its competition.
While things seemed to run pretty smoothly with Treyarch’s 100-player limit, it’s still unclear what the final player count for each match will be when Blackout launches with the rest ofCall of Duty: Black Ops 4 on Oct. 12.

[h=1]Call of Duty Blackout abandons battle royale’s roots as a survival game[/h]
[h=2]A completely different pace and a unique style of play[/h]

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 launched last night without a traditional single-player campaign. In its place there’s a new mode called Blackout, a battle royale-style game based loosely on hit titles such as PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds and Fortnite. Many expected the mode, a collaboration between Treyarch and Raven Software, to be a quick cut-and-paste job. After spending a few hours with the final product, it’s clear that’s not the case.
Not only is Blackout a rock-solid online experience, the game has its own unique style of play. It deviates from the traditional model of the battle royale genre, all but abandoning its roots as a survival game.
The first true battle royale games, H1Z1 and PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, were effectively designed by the same person: Brendan “PlayerUnknown” Greene. He’s explained many times, including in our interview from a few years back, that his designs were inspired in part by his love of DayZ, the groundbreaking multiplayer survival game.
PUBG and DayZ are completely different games, to be sure, but they share the same basic conceit by dropping a bucket full of players on to a map and encouraging them to shoot at each other. They also have completely different paces. You could spend hours inside the 225 square kilometers of DayZ’s Chernarus+ map and never even see another player. Meanwhile, in PUBG, engagements are much more frequent. Commonly, chicken dinner winners will get five or more kills on their way to victory.
In Black Ops’ Blackout, expect to do a hell of a lot more shooting. Unlike other battle royale games, players are pressed together almost immediately. I have no idea if the map is bigger or smaller than the ones in PUBG or Fortnite. The fact is that it doesn’t matter.
To start with, players drop into the map from a much lower altitude. They’re also incredibly maneuverable in the air with an elaborate wingsuit, which easily allows you to fly from one edge of the map to the other. This gives players a very small window of opportunity to spot the location of enemies as they fall to the ground.
Players are effectively freed from the hassle of oversized maps that can often feel more like walking simulators than multiplayer shooters. As a side effect, it feels like you’re always just a few short seconds away from finding another player.
The audio in the game enhances that effect. Once you come near another player, you begin to notice that footsteps are incredibly loud. Using a good pair of headphones, it’s pretty easy to locate enemies within 50 meters or so. Once someone opens up with an unsuppressed weapon they’re even easier to locate at range.
All of this has the effect of drawing players closer and closer together. But Blackout also spawns a ridiculous amount of loot. Grab something off the ground, turn your back for a moment, and there’s another item in its place. Once you cut away your parachute players are mere seconds from picking up a long gun, giving them lethality at range. Since helmets are exceptionally rare (they’re only available with tier-three armor sets) that makes everyone in the game a potential killing machine the moment that they hit the ground.
Essentially, Black Ops 4’s Blackout mode removes the notion of scavenging from the battle royale genre. The chance of being stuck with a short-range shotgun or a measly 9 mm pistol is exceedingly small. That, coupled with the excellent implementation of online play, means more matches in a shorter period of time.
Even when you’re losing, even when you’re getting no-scoped by some bunny-hopper who comes loping around the corner behind you, you’re learning. That makes it more fun by far than many other games in the battle royale genre. If past is any indication, that level of engagement is going to give Blackout an impressively long shelf life.

[h=1]Black Ops 4’s Black Market is now available on PS4, PC and Xbox One to follow next week[/h]

[h=2]New cosmetic items are waiting to be unlocked[/h]

The Black Market, the cosmetic marketplace for Call of Duty, is now live in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 on PlayStation 4 and will be live on PC and Xbox One on Oct. 26, developerTreyarch announced on Friday morning.
At launch, the only Black Market feature that is turned on is the Contraband stream, a progression system that allows players to unlock new cosmetic content — such as new Blackout characters, weapon skins, specialist outfits, tags and gestures — simply by playing the game. Much like Fortnite’s Battle Pass, the Contraband stream will award players loot for earning in-game experience. Each new set of unlocks will be called an Operation and will rotate on a seasonal basis, with new rewards every few months.
The Black Market will also feature special events that only stick around for a short time. The first of these events will begin Oct. 20 for PS4 players — with other platforms following a week later — and will feature special Halloween-themed unlocks. These will only be available for a short time, but there will be more events in the future, according to Treyarch.
The final addition to the game’s Black Market is Blackjack’s Shop. Here, players will be able to purchase specific cosmetic pieces that will only be available for a week at a time. Blackjack’s Shop will go live in Black Ops 4 sometime in November.

how are pings... does it connect to European servers or middle east?
Its a hit or miss sometimes. When it places me on EU Servers i get 130ms and when at ME servers i get like 60-65ms. Either ways the game is pretty good. I am already very close to Prestige 1 (PC).

The game has a few balance issues, but beyond that its a good game !

[h=1]5 things to know about Black Ops 4’s Oct. 30 multiplayer patch[/h]

[h=2]There’s finally a fix for the spawning issues[/h]

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4has been out for a few weeks now, and Treyarch has just released the game’s biggest patch yet.
While the company has been consistently updating the game and fixing minor issues, this patch, out today, Oct. 30, aims to fix some of the larger balancing issues in the game, such as weapons that are too strong or operators that are getting played a little too often. Most importantly, this patch looks to fix some of the spawn issues that players have been running into since the game’s launch.
This patch also addresses the game’s Blackout and Zombies modes, but the main focus of the changes is on the multiplayer-side of things. It’s also worth noting that this patch only applies to the console versions of the game for now. A specific PC patch will be released shortly after with specific changes for that platform.
For a full look at all the changes coming to Black Ops 4, you can check out Treyarch’s official patch notes.

Gun Game announcement Treyarch[h=3]GUN GAME HAS ARRIVED[/h]One of the most popular modes in the Black Ops series — and online shooters in general — Gun Game has made it’s way to Black Ops 4. The mode gives every player a specific set of weapons, and every time you get a kill, your weapon changes. In most modes, the player to work through all the weapons first wins. But in the upcoming Chaos Domination version of the mode, players will still be tasked with earning 150 points by capturing zones, all while their weapons swap. This should make for not only an unpredictable mode, but also a great addition to Black Ops 4’s set of multiplayer modes, at least until it goes away on Nov. 6.
[h=3]SPAWNS SHOULD BE IMPROVING[/h]One of the most frequent complaints about Black Ops 4’s multiplayer online is about the spawn system. Players are tired of situations where they spawn in directly in front of enemies, or even occasionally in the same spot as an enemy. Thankfully, Treyarch has heard fans’ frustrations and is working on a solution. With this patch, the developers are taking a look at spawns across all maps and specifically changes the way players spawn on Slums, Summit, Firing Range, Frequency, Arsenal and Icebreaker — some of the biggest offenders. While this should help things out, Treyarch is careful to mention that this is an ongoing solution and that this isn’t the only fix we’ll see in the near future.
[h=3]WEAPON BALANCE IS GETTING A LOT OF CHANGES[/h]Just about every gun in every category is getting a change or two in this patch, but let’s try to sum things up.
Assault Rifles, overall, are getting a little less powerful when used for running and gunning, a role that Treyarch wants SMGs to be the clear favorite for. Speaking of which, SMGs are getting some tweaks to make sure that no one gun in the category presents itself as the obvious favorite over the others. Sniper Rifles got some damage buffs to help them better compete with the Paladin, the weapon class’ best gun. Tactical Rifles got buffs to help make them usable, while LMGs got a couple of nerfs because they were a little too usable. Finally, Shotguns were changed the least, but you should get one-shot killed by the MOG 12 slightly less often, as it had its range shortened.

Ajax and operator from Black Ops 4. Treyarch/Activision[h=3]OPERATORS ARE GETTING SOME BALANCE CHANGES[/h]There are a lot of changes here, in fact, with seven operators in total getting tweaked. Ultimately, these are almost all nerfs. Rather than trying to buff every operator to help out some of the least-played characters, Treyarch has opted to simply nerf the top performers. That means things like Recon getting a Sensor Dart that doesn’t last as long and 10 percent less damage for Nomad’s dog.
[h=3]STIM SHOT IS SLOWING DOWN A LITTLE[/h]In a change that’s likely to affect almost everyone, Stim shot, the piece of gear that allows you to shoot from the hip while healing yourself, is going to take a little longer to actually do the healing. This will make players a little more exposed and help some of the other gear options become a little more viable.

[h=1]Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Oct. 30 Blackout change list[/h]

[h=2]Armor is gonna be a little less powerful after this patch[/h]

The latest patch for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4’s Blackout mode is here, and there isn’t anything too groundbreaking about it. But the mode is getting a few important bug fixes and quality-of-life updates.
Perhaps the biggest change is coming to the mode’s armor, which is going to let a little bit more damage pass through now. While complaints about the mode have been limited, players with armor that’s a little bit too strong has come up a few times from the community.
The way Blackout’s audio works will also be changed. The system has been reworked to give players a better idea of which direction the footsteps they’re hearing are coming from, something that’s critical to staying alive in any battle royale game.
This patch was all part of Treyarch’s Oct. 30 update to Black Ops 4, which included a ton of other — non-Blackout — changes to the game. These changes are only for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One at the moment, with a PC-specific patch on the way in the near future.

[h=1]Black Ops 4’s in-game currency, COD Points, are now live on PS4[/h]

[h=2]Unlocking items in the Black Market just got a lot easier[/h]

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 has been out for a few weeks now, and Treyarch is continuing to roll out the game’s cosmetic options.
Two weeks ago, that meant the addition of the Black Market, and this week it’s COD Points, the series’ microtransaction currency. These points will allow players to simply buy tiers of the Black Market if they would like, since grinding through all 200 tiers of cosmetic rewards is going to take a lot of playtime. The currency will also allow players to buy extra Nebulium Plasma in the game’s Zombies mode, which unlocks specific perks that are usable only there.
COD Points will also allow players to unlock something called Special Orders, which are an entirely new set of cosmetic rewards for Black Ops 4. These rewards are tied to the Black Market and will place extra rewards at certain tiers. So, if you make it to a certain tier level in the Black Market, you’ll unlock the Black Market reward, as well as whatever Special Order reward was tied to that tier. It would appear that these Special Orders will only be tied to a few tiers at once and will rotate through the store frequently, but once you’ve bought one you’ll keep it forever.
Just like the Black Market earlier in the month, COD Points are only available on PlayStation 4 for now but will go live on Windows PC and Xbox One next week.

[h=1]It's Happened: Black Ops 4 Now Has Controversial Microtransactions[/h]

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 microtransactions are here, and they are not being received particularly well by the community despite having been warned about their eventual implementation by developer Treyarch. The microtransactions were introduced earlier today on PS4 in the form of currency called COD Points.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is no stranger to controversy, as the game endured a storm of it prior to its release when Treyarch revealed it was doing away with the single player campaign entirely to focus more on multiplayer modes. While that change was initially received poorly by fans, the game's launch saw many converted to Treyarch's way of thinking regarding solo content after the multiplayer experience was considered some of the best the series has offered in recent years.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 microtransactions might not have the same luxury of being eventually embraced by the game's community, however, according to a report from
Eurogamer. COD Points are used to buy Nebulium Plasma in zombies, access new Special Orders in the Black Market, and to progress through the game's cosmetic tiers that are also tied to the Black Market. The latter is one of the bigger sticking points for those who are upset by the microtransaction system within the game, as the grind to progress through tiers has been described as brutally slow, well behind the pacing of other similar systems within the same genre of games.

Now, we might have an answer for why that progression is so lethargic. Players can now use COD Points to skip the grind - the problem being that to do so would likely cost players somewhere in the range of $175 USD, give or take depending on where they already are in the tier progression.

That's not all, of course. Paying for Special Orders is also new, and will work as described by Treyarch:
"With Special Orders, players can stack each tier with multiple items to unlock at once, allowing everyone to maximise item unlocks with two items per tier at all times and up to three items per tier when Special Events are live...though Special Orders will rotate on a regular basis, they will stay in your inventory once acquired until they're completed, and you can switch between active Special Orders at any time."

Unfortunately for Treyarch, fans are also exceedingly upset by the implementation of these Special Orders. People are unhappy at the notion of completing paid-for challenges to unlock cosmetic items that have been historically free in other Call of Duty series entries. On top of this, there are additional plans for Black Ops 4microtransactions in the form of Blackjack's Shop later this November, a place where players can directly buy cosmetic gear that's stocked in limited supply.
While Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 hasn't gone the dreaded pay-to-win route with its microtransaction model, players are still concerned over the precedent that's being set with COD Points currently. People have been drawing direct comparisons to Fortnite's similar model of microtransactions, with a key difference being that Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is a game that costs the typical full price of other AAA releases, while Fortnite is a free-to-play game that uses its in-game currencies as its primary means of profit.
That distinction is important, and it's likely the biggest reason Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 has incited its community into a full-blown uproar over what they perceive to be an exploitative practice on the part of Treyarch. That, and they've already had to deal with some suspicious practices in the form of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4's season pass system as well, another model that appears explicitly designed to simply grab as much money from the community as possible without giving them much choice.

[h=1]Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Blackout Nov. 6 change list[/h]

[h=2]No more 9-Bang grenades, at least for now[/h]

The newest patch for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4’s battle royale mode, Blackout, has arrived and the game has quite a few balance changes to show for it.
The primary goal of this patch, it would appear, is to adjust the weapons in Blackout to make sure that they all at least have the chance to be competitive. That means weapons, like light machine guns, that were being passed up by players entirely and not even picked up off the ground are getting some sweeping changes to try to make them appealing. On the other side of the balance spectrum, 9-Bangs have been taken out of the game entirely to give Treyarch a chance to re-evaluate their place in Blackout.
The other major change coming with this most recent patch is the addition of something called “Blightfather” to the game mode. If that name makes you think he’s zombie related, you’re right! Blightfather is a giant zombie boss that spawns just south of Asylum. He can take tons of damage and is extremely scary if you get close to him, but if you manage to take him down he’ll give you (and your squad) some pretty great loot. The Blightfather is only in the game as a limited-time event and will be gone on Nov. 13.
These changes are live now on all platforms. For a closer look at everything this patch changed in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 you can check out Treyarch’s official patch notes.

[h=3]WEAPONS (BLACKOUT ONLY)[/h]Submachine Guns
Increased muzzle velocity on all SMGs. This should provide more consistent gunfights when in SMG range, along with ensuring that SMGs perform as expected in their intended power band when compared to Assault Rifles in Blackout.
Spitfire
Reduced recoil.

 • Assault Rifles

Reduced ADS sway.
Reduced recoil.

 • Tactical Rifles
Auger DMR
Increased re-center speed. We slowed down the re-center due to high performance in our Blackout beta, but have seen the AUGER slightly underperform since release.
Slightly increased muzzle velocity. This should make for more predictable shots when firing at a moving target within the Auger’s intended ranges.
Swordfish
Tightened the spread pattern. This should allow more shots to land on target at range.
Light Machine Guns
While some players have found success with the LMGs in Blackout, they’re still being passed over by the large majority of players. These changes should help make LMGs more manageable when providing cover fire or engaging targets at range.
Titan
Increased re-center speed.
Reduced re-center pattern offsets for more predictable recoil.
VKM 750
Increased re-center speed.
Reduced re-center pattern offsets.
