Just got a 10mb connection installed within 3 days of ordering in DHA, Karachi. Speed is consistent with amazing ping response time.

Installation and monthly rate?

Sent from my Moto X Pure
5K installation and 2,450 per month (including taxes) = 7,450 at time of installation for internet only package.

They were offering one month free with some bundle packages.

I have opted for 16MB Bundle Offer which includes Digital TV + Telephone and it costs around 3200 inclusive taxes per month. Installation charges were 4k + 3200 monthly total Rs. 7200 but this bundle is on promotion i.e. if u pay them 5k it includes installation charges and one month payment of the bundle, so it saved me a good Rs.2200. The best thing is that the guy has assured me it will be installed by tomorrow, lets hope it does.

Optix/Multinet only provide connections over Fiber.

Wherever Fiber is readily available, it can be pulled into the house with the drop cable, then spliced there and then and hooked up to either an ONT or Fiber-ethernet converter.

Aside from PTCL taking 2 and a half months to lay Fiber in my area, once it was available in a handhole outside my gate, the tech team brought it inside, had it hidden in ducts and whatnot, since apparently PTCL has quality standards when it comes to Fiber, so they brought it inside the house and spliced it, hooking it up to their ONT and this too was all done in one day. The connection was hooked up, and energized, just took them a while to get me my login credentials, which I then received at 11 PM from the exchange manager who got my connection active the same day.

You're reading the FL/SF stories, those are when people place orders in areas where Fiber is not yet available, coming soon, or the company itself is short on staff/equipment.

Optix isn't as well known as FL, hence they had the installation done quicker due to less work load on them.

At the time of order the Optix guy after knowing my address assured me that it will not take them long as all the requisite lines are already laid in vicinity of my residence, I am no techy, but perhaps this was the reason it did not take long. Besides murtaza12 has explained it in technical terms.

Got the 15mbps one installed. And damn. Got rid of ptcl. The guy was really nice as well. Gave them 3k advance, and still have to give 2k. But the connection was installed in a day. Quite impressed.

murtaza12 so u have PTCL's Gpon connection, which badwidth?
Well you are rightabout FL, i applied two weeks back, their fiber is going thru backside road, merely less than 150ft away from my house, but they are so busy to install prevous orders, they have still asked me to wait a full month to 40 days. They are lacking staff, one of his sales exec (who booked my connection) was saying they need few more "Line Men"

How much did they charge you for installation?

Sent from my Moto G4 Plus using tapatalk
PTCL doesn't charge installation fees for GPON, it used to be 30k installation fees a few years back, but it's been waived off.

I only paid 3k for new connection charges which I deposited directly in the PCPM machine in the exchange.

Next day installation team came and laid cables, spliced, dropped off ONT and left.

murtaza12 i wish PTCl could offer cheap highspeed bandwidth as compared to other Private companies. I've been using ptcl's Dsl since 2003, there are hardly any disconnecting problems, using 4mb for now. But since FL is available here, i can get 15mb in same billing. Hope FL doesnt disappoint me.

They certainly have the ability to provide it, as much as we all hate PTCL and badmouth them for poor service, they have an impressive network backhaul.

I wish they'd discontinue the 1, 2 and 4 Mbps packages, and keep it at 10 Mbps minimum.

Should be 10, 20, 50, 75 and 100 Mbps, possibly introduce higher packages as well, but that would take time.

I just hope in the future after AAE-1 is complete and active, that we see a price reduction from PTCL, paying 9k/month for triple play 30 Mbps is the biggest rip-off ever.
