dude i hav watched it n i think as long as i remember i watched it after 1 week when it waz finished n i watched all of the epz in 2 dayz..
a must watch anime..
in my opinion 9/10..

I am quite surprised at that statement! Everyone just seems to love this anime (Including me) because its just one of those animes which are great in plot and have a reasonable/great end!
No anime can really be compared to this one except Code geass! Which is the BEST anime I have EVER seen!

But I respect your opinion!

I will Give this anime 9/10 i hate the ending, but over all the DEATH NOTE rocks...

Let's compare it then with Code Geass (although I would consider these two anime to be on far ends)

1. Character Development - Code Geass had many characters, you just have to watch to know how many, each character was pursued and developed. Some were minor, others were detailed. Lelouch's character himself, a journey really, I shouldnt have to explain.

Death Note had some characters, all static throughout. No character was developed. Yeah sure Light was a normal student in the start, but after he got Death Note he changed, sure ! But that's about it, and this occurred in probably the second episode, rest of 35 episodes you see the same character.

2. Story - Death Note turned out to be pointless in the end. I like anything, Movie, Anime or Games to have the story drive it. The story should move, develop and then conclude. The story behind Death Note was how a student gets hold of a book that kills, and he decides to make the world a better place by using it. That's all ?

This story was left behind, and the viewer would even forget this while watching the anime because the whole series was then directed at KIRA vs. L and then in the end KIRA vs. Near and Melo.

While consider Code Geass, not only did this marvellous anime have a brilliant story about the whole Colonization, Brittania, Peace, War, Equality, Racism, Power, Rebellion etc. It also pursued a deep side plot which was Geass itself. Both these stories developed throughtout and derived the whole series and both concluded in the end. Better than Perfect !

So this is all really, I dont hate Death Note, but I feel its not 'great' or even close !

You are a bit wrong light yagami wanted to become god and rid the world of evil and that is what he did but the way he did it was unethical and was considered murder and it was 2 wrongs don't make a right so he was doing his thing when the police decided to stop the madness then L stepped in he became a threat to light's mission so light thought that he had to get rid of him and he did so for a few years he progressed with his mission undisturbed then near and mellow came so he again saw them as a threat and tried to get rid of them but failed the point is that it was light vs L but light's main goal was to rid the world of evil and become god so your point does'nt make sense.

OH and it coul've gone on a bit longer it was too short and that was the only problem.

Death is AWESOME..........it truly is Amazing.......Great Story, Detailed Characters and NO USELESS EPISODE.........i STRONGLY RECOMMEND this anime who likes INVESTIGATION,ACTION and CRIME!!!

i have a question that is anyone reading manga of Deathnote i have heard from somewhere that Misa commits suicide after 1 year of Lights death and read this that Misa falls into despair after learning of Light's death through Matsuda.An Interview With The Author Ohba Tsugumi he told that,Misa commits suicide one year later on February 14, 2011 And since it’s said that users of the Note end up miserable.Thats even more sad i thought she survived thats good but .....and this was cut in the Death Note episodes.

so i thought they would have cut Misas death too.
He really is crazy and evil bastard.

I rate Death Note highly. Very different to everything else plus I have respect for Ohba who stuck to his goals and didnt stretch the manga out (which he easily could of done). Only grip I have is the ending. Infact the all the volumes post 8 were tedious and forced. I didnt like the fact that Light lost due to something which wasnt his fault and something he couldnt help. Losing L notched the manga down in terms of excitement.
