10 years compressor warranty is very good and since he is giving you the option for replacing it, then i don't see any problem in buying PEL, because its a good & established local brand. Plus i think it'll be cheaper than Gree.
so i researched more and found one shop who actually knows my uncle so he recommended me gree 1.5ton and in 2nd no he recommend gree lomo series which he says comes to 4 amps, than he said get pel 1.5ton with 10 year compresser warranty, its amps goes down to like 3amp and even more if we use it contineously. so i m thinking of going for pel, as he is a reliable guy and said if cooling performance are not good of pel he will replace it. he also placed kenwood and haier as a 5th and 6th option

Portable AC

Salaam all
I wanted to ask if anybody has any experience with a portable AC and how are the different technically and efficiency wise from Split ACs?
Suggestions of good brands and from where they can be bought will be appreciated.

On a little different topic, I have seen a few "Chargeable Air Coolers" on Daraz.com ranging from 10-15k. Does anybody know if they can be of any good use in June-July summer?

Regards,
Dr. Najeeb.

I don't know much about Portable Air conditioners, but do not go for those air coolers. Although they do spew slightly colder air than your ceiling fan, but since they use water to do that they make you and the entire room very humid and sticky. And refilling them with water becomes a chore after a little while.

Guys, this is just to point out we shifted to a new office and we bought kenwood esense 1.5 ton variants, several of them. Even in a area well sealed away from sunlight and small enough for a 1 ton ac, these kenwood's are miserable. I thought the haiers we own were bad but these take the cake. Two of these combine don't work as well as even my 2 ton general bought in 1996 at home which only has the original compressor and all other parts changed many times, that cools even a larger space than these much efficiently. Please stay away from these.

Assalamoalykum!
Respected All!
I'm planning to buy a split ac soon, so doing research nowadays. Let me share what I've learnt.
Acson: For those among you who've been inquiring about it, we've been using it for almost 10-years and it is indeed a high quality split ac, but obviously with very high price. 1.5 ton nowadays is around Rs. 1 lac.
Mitsubishi: I've not used it but based on all reviews that I've read it seems to be the finest brand in Pakistan, with energy saving, low noise, super cooling. Again the only drawback is high price. One query though, some people on olx claims to be wholesaler and is selling Mitsubishi 1.5 ton inverter for mere 65k. I wonder if it is original. It would be great if any expert could verify it. Mitsubishi 1.5 ton split ac - Lahore - Electronics & Home Appliances
Gree: From all of the reviews and experiences I've heard this seems to be the best quality brand at affordable price as 1.5 ton inverter 18C1TH-11B (B for Black) is for Rs.75k approx. I visited a few retailers on College Road and they were giving some discount, one of them for 69k. So, most likely I'll be buying it. Any suggestions are welcomed :)

High end brands have impressive control in energy saving due to this, my advice is that everyone should go for inverter of top brands only as it saves on electricity in long run, much like installation of solar; high initial cost but pays off.
One very important tip for all (owner or potential owner's of split ac), Try to keep the temperature on 26 or even 27 degree Centigrade as it'll save the environment with lesser electricity wastage and also you a lot of money. 'Green thinking is emphasized a lot in Islam too' :)

Best 1.5 ton split AC under 50k?

Hello folks!

My current budget is around 45k. I'm looking into getting a 1.5 ton non-inverter AC. So far, I've shortlisted PEL, Gree, Haier and Kenwood after a little market research.

Which one would you recommend and why?

Thanks a plenty!

I am using PEL since 2 years and it is working fine MashaAllah. Looks wise is also very decent other than that you can also try Gree but not Haier or Kenwood for sure as experienced both brands as well and are not good in long run.....

from your list I have used PEL, Haier, Kenwood, PEL is a no go. Kenwood is ok, currently i have 2 in my home, 1 installed last year and the other 2 years ago, there is a problem with older one, its inner flap malfunctioned just after the warranty. as for Haier its been 4 years and last week its outer condenser leaked so had to get it fixed for 5k.

though my LG 11years old is still rock solid..

have heard good things about Gree. that is the next one i am going to try if i have to purchase a new one.

Could you be specific so as to what issues you experienced with your PEL split AC? Is it a relatively old model?

i dont have one now but yes its been 6 - 7 years ago bought 5 of them and in 2 units blower malfunctioned within a month and it took ages for their customer reps to visit and fix it. so after that i have erased PEL from my list all together.

I'm assuming we're talking about the respective ACs' life in Karachi weather?

Perhaps their customer service has improved now, who knows. I've heard good things about PEL's cooling potential. I'm also eyeing Kenwood very closely but for some reason want to avoid Haier and Gree altogether.
