Except that we've already established that contrast isn't game changing. Impactful HDR is, which is lost on an OLED TV 🤣
It's not at all inadequate. As long as there are a decent number of dimming zones, FALD produces great results. First-gen Mini LED backlighting in Samsung QLED TVs is producing near OLED black uniformity already, and the eventual transition to Micro LED will take things one step further.
Dem LED contrast levels....

Wow, wasn't expecting Necrokiller to be so up-to-date on the progress of VRR on Sony TVs 🤣

I've always had FALD disabled with games because it adds to the input latency. Even without local dimming, the TV's contrast and black levels are pretty solid. In fact, local dimming on this TV has the drawback of crushing some of the finer detail in dark scenes 🤷‍♂️

Don't prefer to have it on in movies/TV shows either, as it's pretty jarring to see certain zones of the screen have their backlight disabled while others have it enabled during dark scenes, particularly if a bright object is moving within dark scenery 🤷‍♂️

There's a reason why the Netflix calibrated mode on this TV seemingly disables local dimming 🤷‍♂️

Such is the level of excitement over an 8 years old feature from PC gaming that CerebralTiger has immediately started to point out the flaws of HDR on LED TVs 🤷‍♂️ :ROFLMAO:

Oh I know about the 4k120Hz blurring issue as well :ROFLMAO:

Mediocre TV stays mediocre 🤷‍♂️

Ek to LED ki contrast ratio pehle hi can't match OLEDs, and the only technology that was intended to improve it, gets disabled in VRR mode. 🤦‍♂️

Hopefully, anyone reading this thread will stay away from X900H for their "impactful" HDR gaming needs. 🙏

Also, HDR peak brightness has improved with this new update, further improving the impact of HDR. Ek to OLED fans ko yeh nahi samajh aata that a bright screen that preserves highlights is what truly makes HDR shine.

Hopefully, anyone reading this thread will stay away from X900H for their "impactful" HDR gaming needs. 🙏
Hopefully they'll also stay away from LG OLED TVs, and instead opt for an LCD with high real world peak brightness, such as Samsung's QN90A. That, or they can wait for Samsung's QD-OLED TVs, or better yet, wait for their microLED TVs. 🙏

I mean, its the top recommended TV for HDR gaming from experts like Vincent, DF and Rtings. Yes, the same Rtings that you're using at your own convenience 🤷‍♂️ :ROFLMAO:

X900H can't catch a break. Yikes!

Vincent also noted the overbright dynamic tone mapping in HDR and screen uniformity "lottery" on the QN90A, while using Rift Apart ofcourse. Yikes :ROFLMAO:

Only thing burning right now are the wallets of X900H owners.

Dynamic tonemapping with HGIG enabled should be fixable via a software update. HGIG isn't supposed to have dynamic tone mapping anyway 🤷‍♂️ - a satisfied X900H owner 😄

Kinda like how X900 owners were waiting for software updates to introduce an 8 years old PC technology on their TV, but ended up with an update that broke other features :ROFLMAO:

Started Dead Island 2, and i find it pretty lame. The story is shit. The characters are either cringe or bland (all 6 of them), The gameplay isn't fun. Even the goddamn zombies don't behave like proper zombies. They're all fast & intelligent unlike how zombies are supposed to be like. Any fan of "zombie" genre cannot possibly like this shitfest of a game. Dying Light 2 was million times better than this shit.

tbh gaming industry as a whole is failing much like tech industry. They have buckled down too much to Corporate suites then relying on passionate and innovative people. A corporate only believes in financial growth and shareholders.
