I want to build a gaming PC where I can play PC and Console games through an emulator like PS4 or PS3

Also, I'm a professional programmer so I also want to do official work with this system when I need it.

I have knowledge for normal PC, now I'm gonna build gaming PC first time in my life.

I'm an old PS gamer but this time I decided not to buy a console because some time games which I want to play they were not available in the console due to dependency but on the PC you can play any game which you want. That's why I'm thinking to build a PC.

I got a suggestion from my few friends to make PC with AMD Ryzen 5 2600 and Gigabyte GTX 1660 OC 6GB

Also, I'm interested to use 256GB SSD and 1TB HDD with 16GB ram and WiFi supported board for that PC.

but I don't have any idea which board and power supply will support these processors and card

I know intel processors but don't about AMD processor because AMD processor is cheaper than intel and good for gaming that's why I'm going for AMD

I'll appreciate it if anyone gives a better idea to build a PC with a processor and card also.

Also, one of my friends forces me not to build a custom Gaming PC.
He was forcing me to buy branded gaming PC because he thinks they are reliable and buying processors and cards from the local market is not good because local market new items build (in terms of performance and reliability) is not stronger than used branded PC which comes with DELL or HP gaming PCs. (is that true?)

@RulerCW

I would suggest that you wait since the new generation of Ryzen (4000 series) is coming soon as well the 30xx Series of Nvidia gpu's and the current market prices are very anti-consumer atm . But if you do require a PC right now this is what I'll suggest

Ryzen 5 3600
Msi B450 tomahawk
Adata XPG D60G 16gb 3000mhz
Adata SU630 ssd or Adata XPG gammix s5 nvme (either in 265gb)
Zotac GTX 1660 Super
Seagate barracuda 1TB
Thermaltake Litepower 650w

Don't worry building a custom PC has no drawbacks, no need to buy a branded pc just spec and build one that meets your requirement

are these specs accommodate in my price range?

@RulerCW Yes you should be able to get these in your given budget. I would suggest you confirm prices in you local market, get a quotation from multiple shops to get a solid idea of what you can afford and what you can compromise on to get the best bang in your budget

Greetings and Welcome

What resolution you intend to game on?

Are you looking for a new build or used parts don't bother you either?

Which programs you like to run on this build?

Branded PC's do last longer but that's only the PSU and Sturdy Case then there is that upgradability factor, and often most branded PC's use blower based reference style GPU's instead

also a new Branded PC will cost you more compared to a Unbranded one

Thanks,

I'm looking for the best within my budget.
recently I sale my new laptop just because of making a gaming PC so I also need to buy each accessories with PC like keyboard, mouse and also cooling fans. I already have a LED.

As a programmer, I used dev IDE like visual studio, android studio and moble emulators and some time used Adobe designer tools like photoshop, illustrator, etc

Hmm Sure, other than PC are you looking for gaming oriented peripherals or even basics ones will do, as they often do cost more too

Also Gaming Resolution is important factor since your Friend Suggested 1660 Super I am Assuming 1080 Ultra? Or maybe 1440p mid to high?

Wifi/Bt boards Highend often are expensive or often offered with Mini ITX ones

I love to see high graphics games, if my pocket allow me then I'll go for 4k but it's not possible that's why I'm ready to compromise but I want best in my price range.

I got it for Wifi builtin boards then tell me the WiFi USB stick will be ok or suggest else?

Okay so for starters lets get your build sorted out first

  • CPU you can either go for Ryzen 2600 or Intel 9400F(which I am using)
  • The chipset on Team Red aka Ryzen pretty straight forward you'll need a B450 motherboard
As for Team Blue aka Intel, you have several chipsets depending on your build ill say something like a B365 is good enough Z series are often expensive
  • RAM any 2666 DIMMS or higher will do
  • SSD Storage NVME storage is a go-to any 256 Gen 3 X4 will do (I am currently using one loving it)
  • as for PSU, Case, HDD & Peripherals throw in what you have left once you got these
don't go lower than 500W for PSU better rating recommended

Some honorable mentions

CM for PSU, TT as other member mentioned ain't bad
A4tech Bloody for Peripherals(Cheaper and durable)
FSP or Gigabyte for Case (both Cheap and Modern, FSP is with ARGB fans)
WD or Seagate for HDD

As for Wifi I am using USB tplink dongle myself works great, you can also opt for better PCI-E based solution with good wireless antenna, actually I prefer those with BT included

Did y'all see the new Assassin's Creed trailer? They finally made a AC set in Japan & then they put a negro as the male protagonist. Ubisoft is taking cues from Disney, and it isn't gonna end well for them, just like Disney. Go woke, go broke!
