Need Help Regading GPU temperature

So recently my graphics card EVGA 9600 GT 512MB Low Power Edition has been giving me some troubles. When I start a game, within a minute or two the game gets all distorted, random visual glitches and the subtitles or main menu becomes blocks. It then hangs and I have to crash it to desktop through the taskbar manager. For a week I thought my GPU was dying


But the thing that was bugging me was that the card works fine whenever I'm not playing a game. I had my 8600GT die on me too but when it went kaput I wasn't even able to run my PC with it plugged. I wondered if something else was wrong. I installed a new driver, took it out cleaned out the dust from the card. Played a game and it was working. Was so happy but after 30 mins it happened again, color distortion and hanging. But now everytime I start my PC, the game will run for 20-30 mins before the problem strikes

So then I realized maybe the card is getting too hot cuz my room is usually quite warm especially in this summer. I checked GPU temperature and it's idling at 60-65C with the fan working at 40-45%. I just wanted to ask whether high temperature can be the reason my card is not working properly or is it just dying? If it's the temperature then what to do??

PS: My PSU is 430 watts and is quite old. GPU is 2 year old. My 8600GT also died on me after 2 years and I'm seeing a pattern here

I don't have money to buy a new graphics card. Spent all I had saved on Red Dead Redemption and InFamous 2. So regretting it right now

what are your complete pc spcs ?
please check the back of your psu and note +12v rating from its back and report here
also upload a screenshot of hardware monitor here
and last your posted in wrong section it should be in hardware section

@Adnan: The picture you posted, was the GPU on load, or on idle condition?

If its on load, then there is no problem with temperature, i.e., the trouble lies somewhere else, probably in Power Supply.
However if it is on idle condition, then you should clean up your GPU's heatsink. That'll solve the problem for some time.

@OP:

Clean up your whole system. Clean every heatsink, every fan slot, every fan fins, etc. Don't let a grain of dust settle in your system. It'll work fine then.

Fan speeds are too low for this temp. Force them to 60-65% at idle. I have a feeling your fan is dying. And make sure you hold the fan while cleaning the heatsink (if using a blower). I once screwed up a fan when doing that :p

guys mein kuch bi nae kara lakin aj mera pc bht acha chal raha i guess heat up hota ha uski waja sa prob karta tha graphic mein aj weather thanda tu pc is workin like a charm.....

always check your pc temps with hardware monitor or some other software and clean your pc after 2-3 months on regular basis. and for this purpose get a china blower in about 500

GPU tha 4650 and i didnt hold the fan. Used the blower and forced dust out of the heatsink not realizing i'll screw up the fan. Then i sent it to ATI to have the fan changed in warranty xD

    Started Dead Island 2, and i find it pretty lame. The story is shit. The characters are either cringe or bland (all 6 of them), The gameplay isn't fun. Even the goddamn zombies don't behave like proper zombies. They're all fast & intelligent unlike how zombies are supposed to be like. Any fan of "zombie" genre cannot possibly like this shitfest of a game. Dying Light 2 was million times better than this shit.

    tbh gaming industry as a whole is failing much like tech industry. They have buckled down too much to Corporate suites then relying on passionate and innovative people. A corporate only believes in financial growth and shareholders.
