I am not much into high end gaming....just some casual games for which both phones will suffice....but s3 beats one x in many other aspects

Personal i am using both mobiles by the grace of Allah.
In my opinion you should go for HTC ONE X.
i really love it its way better then S3.

well places like homeshopping won't charge huge amounts... anyways... it is better to wait for the qualcomm quadcore s4 chipset which is on 28nm as that will rule the market in the last quarter of the year... oh well... you can always change the phone later...

Lol have you checked out the price of Nexus 7 on Homeshopping, it is a total rip-off 32K for 8GB!! and their only excuse is the shipping and custom duties, lol.

I am looking for one that performs all round well which includes a faster cpu and gpu as well so that the phone does not become outdated in at least 2 years

Another huge point in favor of the S3 is ergonomics. The unlock button is placed on the top of one X and given the size of the phone trust me it's a HUGE problem. Whereas on the S3 it's always accessible to the hand due to it being on the side.

You ever used Volume button Awake Mod? You can use volume buttons to Awake screen and then unlock it... so that is a very lame reason .... ^_^

I would advise you to buy One X or S3 only if you want to game and want a good camera. There is no such app right now which uses the quad-core processing capabilities.
Get a Galaxy Nexus. Awesome screen, "munasib camera", the best software support and amazing looks. The the big plus is the price tag.
But if you just want a latest phone for show off (wink), Samsung S3 is the way to go.

P.S. Place GNexus with JB in one hand and S3 in the other, perform some basic functions which you'll be doing so often.. The result will be you will not be able to justify the over spent money on S3.

S3 has better battery life, better camera and better audio quality apart from the chipset advantage. But I totally agree I would myself go for a galaxy nexus right now as it's just awesome value for money and it looks absolutely sick.

Ah so whenever I wanna lock I must first go to the home screen if I am not there? There are just too many problems with this method you may as well save the trouble and get a phone with a comfortably placed button thats the point. I want a consistent lock/unlock method not having separate methods depending on situation because you are never gonna get used to one method that way.

I was comparing apples to apples not apples to oranges. you can compare 4.0.4 ONE X with S3 in Quadrant, Antutu, CF-Bench, u name it, it leads the S3. I was just saying that, if u want a phone to show how fast it is (benches can tell u that), then HOX is the one to get! And set aside benchmarks, just compare the Tegra 3 optimized games, you'll surely see the difference!

too bad you didn't understood my point.Benchmarks don't exactly tell how fast a phone is, they might tell you the raw performance but never the real life performance, plus they can easily be manipulated.

If I consider your point of benchmarks determining which is the better phone then surely the One S kicks One X's ass.Now as far as Tegra 3 is concerned, its a fail chipset, highly inefficient although Tegra 3 games are better than the ones supported by the S3.

that falls in the category of mods, we're comparing stock phones here.

I'll also agree here with the others on getting the Galaxy Nexus instead, you aren't into high end gaming so the GPU on the Nexus will suffice.The only downside will be a not so good camera but stock Jelly Bean and best software support makes up for it.

Android tablets are a failure (like you always stated) except for the Nexus 7 for which the price tag justifies the failure Although I wouldn't comment against the GPU since its pretty good.

They're not failures because of the hardware. I know Tegra 3 is underwhelming but if apps/games are written for it then it's a pretty decent SoC. If Tegra 3 was from someone like Qualcomm then it would be a failure. But nVidia has the power to push developers to make games for their platform only, which they already do on desktops.

Bro, those benches were performed at ONE X with 4.0.3 and Galaxy S3 with 4.0.4, do some research! I know you will now cry about the browser mark but the thing is Htc implemented TEXT REFLOW that makes the browser bench suffer!
On antutu ONE X now scores twice that of ONE S
On Quadrant ONE X with 4.0.4 scores 6000+ on STOCK
