For example bf3 gives same fps if you couple gtx580 either with 2nd generation i3 or i7 I have tested it personally
You're kidding, right?
Because of all the games, BF3 is a game that actually benefits from the extra cores. Second generation i3 locally available, i3 2100, and same gen i7; i7 2600(K) will have a definite and visible difference in games that use the extra cores, and battlefield 3 does use the extra cores. This is not an opinion, but an established fact all over the internet.
If you don't have my word for it, ask Pleasant and hasanJ who have both shifted from Dual Cores to Quads.
Pardon me if this has already been addressed in this thread. Didn't have the time to go through all the replies.
EDIT: Or, perhaps you're basing your assertion on the Single Player Campaign of BF3. That's hardly graphic strenuous to actually test, thus not a good idea. The Multiplayer is what takes the juice out of the rigs.
And, very high end (and even high end) graphic cards will be bottlenecked when paired to a processor that cannot cope with it. At least a quad core/quad thread is suggested in todays time and space to make up with the graphics.
For starters, I believe HasanJs 560Ti DF was bottlenecked by 40% (i.e only 60% of the true potential was used) when he was on a Dual Core. I'm sure he can testify to it, and make corrections to the figures stated.

A z77 board with a 2500 makes no sense.
Get a simple H61 board with a 2500 and 4Gigs of Value RAM. Add whatever you save from the z77 and extra RAM to buy a decent gpu.
At the resolution you are, your processor matters relatively more than your GPU.

My bad. Missed your GPU in the first post as I was in a hurry.
The 5770 will handle most things at this resolution paired with a 2300/2400/2500/2500K adequately. You need not spend on a better GPU. The only upgrade you require at the present resolution is a processor (and naturally a new mobo and DDRIII RAMs to accommodate the processor)
