Hey guys so im stuck in a situation where im looking at the newly released 7770 by amd (dont ask why i wanna buy it:p).....The new series although sounds all good n all...but upon looking at some performance comparisons i got a little confused for the following reasons.

First of all....7770 is slower in performance compared to 6850.
Secondly...7770 costs more than 6850 (not buying locally).

The only pro i can see of 7770 is being new series and that it consumes less power (so maybe lower temps).

What do you guys suggest what to get?

You're forgetting the fact that HD 6850 is a crazy GPU till today, it consumes very, I mean very, very low power, besides that it scales well in CrossfireX. Go for it. :D It's a good value!

Edit:
4770 >> 5770 >> 6770 >> 7770
4850 >> 5850 >> 6850 >> 7850

^ This is how AMD go about their GPUs. You can also see the example of 5770 vs. 6770, there is no difference at all in terms of performance, just some hardware tweaks and better DX11 utilization (new tech.).

If considering numbers + elimination of micro shuttering , then yes. If considering performance alone then a fair comparison can be made with 7850, not 7770. X7XX falls in a different league.

One should always purchase on the principal of price to performance ratio, unless to big difference in technology !
So according to this u should go for 6850
cheaper and better performance !

Bro you need to wake up i think.....7770 is slower than 6850.....and 7850 will be equivalent to 6950 maybe.

The price is the problem with 7770, AMD is trying to make a profit out of 7xxx series (and why shouldn't they). Hopefully Nvidia doesn't delay the kepler otherwise the prices will remain high.

On that BOMBSHELL buy the 6850 :p

If i am the customer i will not go for 6850 bcs its pci 2.0, everyone want new technology, Price factor is also important. I think you should go for new models but not to go for 7770 bcs nobody will buy AMD overpriced product.

PCI-E 2.0 Offers almost 2% Performance increase over PCI-E 1.1 in the Case of GTX570 and GTX480

Which simply means there is no performance difference between PCI-E 1.1 and PCI-E 2.0 for Cards like HD6850 so tell me again why PCI-E 3.0 should be a concern for customers?

PCI-e 3.0 is a marketing gimmick, they want everything to be tagged as generation. :p Next GEN GPUs, 2nd-GEN Intel CPUs, 3rd-GEN PCI-e SLOTS
Even if there's some tiny amount of difference then you should ignore it for cards like 7770 as hasanJ mentioned above. It should be vouched when buying a high-end performance card such as 7950 or 7970.

7750, 7770 = low-end consumer cards
7850, 7870 = mid-end gaming cards
7950, 7970 = high-end performance cards

Peace (sm1)

You reap what you sow. This is what happens when you take away choice from consumers. Even with 88% split going to developers, they can't recoup costs. Meanwhile, Helldivers 2 is a massive hit for Sony thanks in big part to Steam.
